    0:26 Showing the Rabbi Ovadia Yoseph as Sephardic, when he was Iraqi, highlights the problem with defining the terms Sephardic and Mizrahi under only an ethnic definition. He was the chief Sephardic rabbi, because that is the religious tradition, but he was not a descendent of Spanish Jews.

    • @alizahalon
      @alizahalon ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't define him as Sephardic so much because of ethnicity as much as because of which Halachic codifiers he follows. There are two basic lines of codifiers. Sephardic and Ashkenazi. Then you have various Rabbinic authorities for subgroups, depending on what region they are from.

    I'm an Indian from Cochin, where there had been a fairly large Jewish community until recently. It is sad seeing that most have now gone to Israel. It means the end of such a fascinating part of my country's history. I love learning more about Judaism and I hope that future generations - especially the descendants of those who went to Israel from Cochin - will remember that such a community lived here and that they were a much valued part of our city's history. Its fascinating to learn more about Judaism.

      The Mizrahi Iranic component is a proxy for what's really Mesopotamian DNA.
      That's because Iraqi and Iranian Jews are Mesopotamian CONVERTS and not actual Israelites.
      Ashkenazi Jews are a mix of Israelite, Anatolian and European.
      This can lead to many Middle Easterners scoring "Ashkenazi Jew" in shitty admixture tests that use Jewish groups as reference populations.

    • @flwrangler
      @flwrangler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Estelle there's a spiritual element far greater that jealousy. Satan wants to eliminate all Jews, reasoning no Jews, God's prophecies can't take place, his end won't come as written. If you study the scriptures you'll find this
      " war" began long ago, with focus on tribe of Judah because that's where Messiah would come from. If he could kill all jews in WW2, Israel would not have become a nation after more than 2000 years, marking the beginning of the end.
      Hatred against Jews is global because of this. The ungodly pass the hatred on to their children, and most Christian, gentile churches do not teach much on old testament, selective of new testament commandments.

    The Torah has five African nations in it nevertheless, I was surprised to see that this video actually mentioned actually ethnically African Jewish people! Generally, many assume that Mizrachi and Sephardim actually originated in Africa, however, the video was accurate concerning Sephardi roots being European. Please remember too that the "Hamitic Hypothesis" may have actually caused more confusion than anything else in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries concerning African peoples which was formulated by C.G. Seligman.
    Also, "Semitic" is a linguistic term and was never meant to denote ethnicity or "race" in any way. Moreover, the Torah is not an historical document but rather a book of faith and should be appreciated ONLY in that way what's more, Judaism is a religion and not an ethnicity! Be informed too, that the term "Middle East" is a geopolitical term that reflects modern-day populations and NOT the "ancient" anthropological populations irrespective of religion.

    Interesting how there is no mention of the Hebrews who were transported all throughout the Caribean and Americas yet mention American Jews as majority White. The whitewashing of history is always easily explained; you however only reference Ethiopia and Uganda as having the only historical ties to Jews, which is also false because many tribes in West Africa still hold Hebrew traditions that go back to King David. The Children of Isreal were scattered into lands and taken into iron shackles in ships to foreign lands and forced to worship false Gods. This is not hard to trace back to America's and the Caribbean.

    People forget that it’s not about genetics when it comes to who’s Jewish. In Judaism, you’re Jewish if your mother is Jewish. Mizrahi May be the original Hebrews but in Judaism, a true convert is considered 100% Jewish. So if you’re completely foreign yet you have a true conversion (what makes it true isn’t germain to this point) and then bear children, your children are Jewish. It explains why there are many different kinds of Jews. As long as they are observant then they are spiritually Jewish. Genetics are one thing but observant Jews don’t care about genetics. At least the faithful ones. Every group in the world has a minority representing extreme fundamentalist. People tend to forget that.

      We come from 12 different tribes that where different between them; each tribe had it's own customs. For example, Zevulun was one of the commercial tribes, Ephraim were mostly schollars, Levis where priests in the temple, etc. Also, for us, in the begining of Creation, God made Adam (which we concider the first man) with all the genetic data that there is in the world today. From him comes Noach with the ark who had three sons: Shem, Jam and Iafet from which derives different groups of people (Jam is mostly African people, Iafet is Europe and Nordic people and from Shem come the people from the Middle East and some other places). Thats why there are so many different bloodlines. From a scientific stand-a-point, genetics adapt to the place of where you are; it is possible that with the pass of generations some genetic traits evolved in order to survive the different climates they had to go to. An other factor that has to. be taken into consideration are the existance of conversion and mixed marriages. Hope this helps! Have a good week :)

    Sephardic and Ashkenazi are first a form of religious practice and religious interpretations. Sephardic Jews did originated from Spain (hence "Sephardic") but settled all the middle east and north Africa (not the Yemenite Jews, though) . "Mizrahi" is a general name for all Jewish Immigrants who came from Muslim countries and all of them are Sephardic. Nowadays "Mizrahi" is a cultural and sociological group and even and most importantly, a political group. Ashkenazi Jews in Israel are basically been through the same sociological and cultural process. Mizrahi as a political group created, and unique, to Israel, and reflect Israel's political history and ideological choices.

      I can simply answer it. I have a few reasons why.
      A. It's true, Spain and Portugal are in Europe. But back then it was occupied by Muslims. And in 1,400 King of Spain exiled the Jews. And they spread to North Africa and the Middle East.
      B. Before the exile, the Eastern Jews looked at religious leaders as their leaders.
      Meaning even a Jews never went to Spain or Portugal called a Sephardic Jews. (It been mostly in customs i.e)
      Now. Even some of the Jews born in Israel called Sephardics because they follow the customs of what customs in Spain by the Jews over there

    Maybe Jew-ish people are different ethnic groups because they are all converts to the religion of Judaism but the Real Jews who are the physical descendence of Judah, are Black. Ethiopians are Hamites(cannot be a bloodline Jew because Israelites are from the line of Shem), Ashkenazi (cannot be a bloodline Jew because Ashkenaz was the grandson of Japheth(Genesis 10:3). Those who say they are Jews are NOT but are the Synogogue of Satan(rev 2:9, 3:9).

      E-M215 also known as E1b1b and formerly E3b, is a major human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup. It is a division of the macro-haplogroup E-M96, which is defined by the single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) mutation M215.[4][5][6] In other words, it is one of the major patrilineages of humanity, linking from father-to-son back to a common male-line ancestor ("Y-chromosomal Adam"). It is a subject of discussion and study in genetics as well as genetic genealogy, archaeology, and historical linguistics.

    It is a pity that the great diversity of Jewish cultures and languages is disappearing so fast, partly as a consequence of the strong assimilationist pressures in modern nation states, including Israel, whose society is dominated by Ashkenazi culture and the neo-Hebrew language that was invented in Germany in the 19th century. The Judeo-Greek of the Romaniotes, the Judeo-Persian of Ispahan, Judeo-Kurdish, the Judeo-Arameic of Kerend, the Iranian languages Bukhara and of the Tats in the Caucasus, the Judeo-Tatar of Crimean Jews and Karaites, the Judeo-Chinese of the Kaifeng, the Kayla and Qwara of the Beta Israel, Judeo-Arabic, Judeo-Maranathi, Judeo-Malayalam, Ladino, Yiddish, and so many more Jewish languages, would it not be a great loss for humanity if all of this would disappear?

      it is only because there are much more "mizrahi" than "sepharadi".
      you have a common prayer, but there are so many differences.
      the sepharadi were part of "the old settlement". living here in the 19th century and earlier, in jerusalem, hebron, safed, tiberias, owning property, seeing themselves as intellectuals.
      yehoram gaon for example. also all those with spanish family names such as toledo, toledano, sevillia, pinto, franco, guetta, saporta, and many more who come from spanish language.
      they mostly have no claims against the way they were treated by the ashkenazi zionists.
      many of the french jews are spanish -sepharadi - and italian jews.
      whereas mizrahi jews are so different, most of them immigrated in the 1950's and later, into great poverty and disadvantages, felt great frustration, not knowing who to blame, eventually feeling discriminated against. they "bear-hugged" the sepharadi so they could present a larger group but they are trapped in a big inferiority complex. still not wanting to let go of their non-intellectual heritage.

    • @job5831
      @job5831 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TheJenniferKK In order to be from Abraham’s seed as the Ashkenazi Jews claim in present day Israel, you would have to be from the lineage of the brother Shem, Noah’s Son. Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

      It is a biblical fact that the Israelites come from the brother Shem and ONLY from this brother, we can see this at 1 Chronicles 1:24-27, 34, where it lists the names of this lineage (the important names are capitalized):

      24 SHEM, Arpachshad, Shelah, 25 Eber, Peleg, Reu, 26 Serug, Nahor, Terah, 27 Abram, that is, ABRAHAM 34 Abraham became father to Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and ISRAEL.

      So we see from here, in order to be a Semite or claim to be the descendants of Abraham, your lineage would have to come through the brother Shem, not Ham nor Japheth.

      Let’s see where the Ashkenazi Jews descend from, shall we. We can see this lineage also in 1 Chronicles or in Genesis 10 (the important names are capitalized) :

      Genesis 10:1 This is the history of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the Flood. 2 The sons of JAPHETH were GOMER, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 The sons of GOMER were ASHKENAZ...

      So from here we see that the Ashkenazi Jews, who call themselves just that and who put all faith in the Torah, or the first five books of the Bible, are NOT the descendants of Shem whose line produced the first Hebrew Abraham (Luke 3:34-36) but are descendants of his brother Japheth through his son Gomer. So they cannot claim to be Abraham’s seed neither can they claim to be the Jews of the Bible nor label ANYTHING as “anti-Semitic”.

      And thus, the apostle John spoke about this group in the book of Revelation.

      Revelation 3:9 Look! I will make those from the synagogue of Satan who say they are Jews yet are not, but are lying-look! I will make them come and bow before your feet and make them know that I have loved you. (Revelation 2:9 as well.)

      Why does the apostle John make such a bold statement? Because they are not the biblical Israelites of the Bible. Not only that, they claim to be Jews because of their conversion to Judaism. Let’s see what the apostle Paul said about this.

      Galatians 1:13 Of course, you heard about my conduct formerly in Judaism, that I kept intensely persecuting the congregation of God and devastating it.

      Judaism is in opposition to the congregation of God.

      It is not my aim to argue with you but to impart knowledge. You have two options, disregard this biblical truth and continue being led off into destruction, or take this biblical knowledge and apply it and pray on it.

      1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test ALL things; hold onto what is good.

      God Bless

Moreover, genetic markers cannot determine religion, and in the same way that the Jews of Uganda share genetic makeup as their neighbors do this is also so for Europeans Jews too. Genetic maker J1 and J2 originated in Western Asia and is found in Ashkenazim and Sephardim however, it is a common marker in Europeans regardless of religion there.

    The problem I have with this is that the 12 Tribes of Israel were originally all brothers and sons of Jacob/Israel, so can they now be from all these different races, countries, and languages? Where is this coming from? How is it being determined? Because if they are using the current DNA of the people who live in those areas now, some may be Hebrews, but that doesn't make them of the 12 Tribes! So, how is it being determined that certain people are supposed to be Israelites? Because there is a new type of DNA called Ancient DNA that takes the DNA of people who lived in that Land in the time of The 12 Tribes. Well, after they matched it with the Ashkenazi, it did not show them coming from Israel but up in Central and Eastern Europe!!! The DNA at Biblical times shows them having the same DNA of many Black Jewish enslaved people sent here by Queen Isabella of Spain when we expelled them from Spain. This is why Spain and Portugal started the enslaved person Trade.
    So, my point is that many people from the Old World, such as Africa and Asia, probably have "Hebrew" in them (The Hebrews are Abraham Seed)! And remember, his seed would be found all over the earth! But, The 12 Tribes of Israel are a particular family-the 12 Sons of Israel and their descendants.
    But a part of the problem is that accurate information is not being given.
    The whole story of Jacob/Israel is significant to our world today! But most religions stay away from explaining the relationship between The Bible and the people of today. Many believe they were not a part of the Bible. That's because they have changed our original tribal names! The Romans did this, along with destroying the original Torah. Churches seem to overlook a particular group of people that the Romans got close to and allowed them to rule over the Israelites because that's causing all the confusion now! Along with who those people are today and why it matters!
