This is one of my favorite things she's ever sang with or without anyone else. She very rarely sings in this breathy style but it sounds so good when she does.

This song clearly doesn’t match her voice but I love to see Céline singing these traditional songs of Québec 🥰😍

She can sing anything and adapt her voice to any situation. It was Fred's moment and she was harmonizing. It wasn't time to upstage him and belt it out (although the key was not that high for her at all), but it was a moment of tenderness. She's just great.

Ça lui va mieux cette balade de Willie Lamothe avec sa belle liberté! Céline non, toute pognée comme toujours... Faut dire que je n'aime pas trop non plus son genre sans enlever son potentiel de voix.

I don't know who Fred Pellerin is. But what the heck instrument is he playing?
I first heard this charming song, by Isabelle Boulay (and very much prefer that version).
However, I am pleased to have the words printed out in this recording by Celine D and Fred P.
They seem like a very neat piece of poetry from M. Joly.
    EXCEPT:
"Tu ne peux pas savoir comme je peux t'aimer" feels so awfully clumsy.
Two words break the rythm of the song. And this is, after all, the song's punch line.
    1) "ne". OK. We can hide this one.
    2) The second "peux".
It is horrible to use the same word TWICE in the same sentence. And it feels as if we have bitten off more than we can reasonably chew in the space created for us by the delightful melody.
We could throw out this additional mouth stuffing word, if we could alter the meaning of the phrase to:
"Tu (ne) peux pas savoir comme je t'aimais".
    I think this works.
Without this strange awkwardness, I would be prepared to award the song the greatest possible accolade.
Namely, that it should be sung by the greatest female pop singer of our age - Helene Fischer.

Ah Ah! :) This is so funny how you "analyse" and "correct" French Canadian lyrics of a song that has been anchored in our minds for decades (and lyrics that work very well - may I correct you - no matter the so called repeated word "peux"!) . It's not an awkwardness at all. Because, first, your version : "comme je t'aimais" wouldn't have the same meaning (it's past tense, and it's not the case, he's telling her: "you can't know how much I can love you"). And second, this is how we speak. And if we were to correct all the lyrics in American Country songs from the South, with all the twang and the local expressions, we wouldn't be finished... So, a lot of poetic licence. But in this case, "Mille après mille" is perfect. :) P.S. Fred Pellerin is a "conteur"., like in the old days. "Conteurs" are artists who tell stories orally without any support other than their knowledge, their imagination and their talents for improvisation. Fred tells amazing stories in his shows and introduces songs along. And he plays the YUKULELE.

I found the following TH-cam notification in my email inbox.

But when I came to look at the original TH-cam comment - it had been deleted.
Now Carole, this is ALMOST the most intelligent reply I have EVER received ON ANY SUBJECT AT ALL. So please do not be ashamed of it.
I don't agree with it. But I REALLY appreciate it.
So please do not hide away in the shadows. Step forward.
I shall let you into a secret.
My ONLY qualification to speak French is a Brtitish "O-level" GCE examination which I passed in 1965. And only with a "grade three".
So Prennez votre courage, my dear lady. You will not offend me.

      Moreover.
Thanks to my indefatigable researches, I found ONE (and only one) recording which did not suffer from the "double peux" problem.
The recording is by Gerald Joly himself, recorded shortly after he had written his wonderful song. Here it is:
      th-cam.com/video/Pz9n5Cy9GyM/w-d-xo.html
Listen attentively to the punch line in M Joly's own version. He sings:
J'ai tellement besoin de toi, cherie.
Is there a higher authority to which I could possibly appeal?
And please note that, unlike the inferior versions, it RHYMES.
So, I have one piece of advice to Canadian singers of the French persuasion.
It is: "Get your acts together!".
And don't even get me started on "Barbara".
