I absolutely adore seeing artists who take inspiration from vintage animation. Modern character designs can be amazing, but they simply don’t have the same magic as traditionally 2d animated characters. Your skill is out of this world! 💕

Hiya, what a great video! Love the way you would show the sketched version prior to filling in. How long did it take you to finally start clicking to drawing this art style or even any art style? I got an iPad recently and im a complete beginner but I feel like I’m struggling with angles and proportion badly haha.

I wanted to draw in the Anime style (Ben 10, DBZ, Pokémon, Naruto and such) but found it pretty detailed which made my mind spin... especially for someone who prefer writing as an Art.
Yet, when I started looking for inspiration I thought about the Kingdom Hearts series, Not a fan of the games (yet) but I absolutely LOVE its art style
Those shoes of Sora was such weird yet unique that I wanted to rip it off to my style... such a good combination between Rubber Hose and Anime styles
for eyes I was interested in (DBZ) style and (Street football), Street Football was such a great cartoon that unfortunatelly I don't have as strong motivation to rewatch it as Ben 10 but I appreciate its Art, the way they draw light reflection on eyes was Simple yet fascinating... which (Again) is similar to Rubber Hose style
Yes... For someone who still aren't experienced with the Kingdom Hearts world, I think I already look at it for inspiration more than any other franchise aside from Ben 10 or DBZ, which is Cool IMO

Hey this is amazing! I am planning to start learning how to draw cartoons, I am aiming to this particular style but I haven't found much content online, any suggestions to start training your hand to draw and sketch and design in this style?
Thank you! I apologize for taking 2 weeks to see this, I hope I can still help :) I think my biggest suggestion would be to find as many references as you can from cartoons of the time period. Sometimes tracing can help you get used to how it feels to draw in that style, so maybe you want to print some out and practice like that.
Then it's a matter of training not only your hand, but your eye as well, to be able to recognize certain elements from your references and see what makes a rubber hose cartoon a rubber hose cartoon.
I don't want to bog you down with too many details in a comment but these are the most important things I think! My 'rubber hose shenanigans' playlist has 2 videos where I do some character design. The first one is a bit long but those might help!

I don't know if anyone made an official series, but I have a playlist of all the rubber hose drawing tutorials I've made so far on my channel :) I think you can also find drawing books online that are specifically about rubber hose style too!
