  • My definition of "quick" might not fall in line with others. But I've got you know, things to say. I call these a "quickview" because it covers unboxing and initial testing. It does not speak to durability, longevity, etc.
    Further illumination:
    I watched the RCReview episode after making mine. The "current" units do not ship with an alternate wheel. There's nothing in the box other than the Tx, the Rx, and a battery voltage sensor lead.
    I'm still waiting with bated breath for RCReview to say something negative about ANYTHING in a "review."

    I bought the G7P from banggood when it was announced hoping it would work well for my 4WS build. I got used to the menus and don't really need to go back to them now that the rig is pretty well set up. I agree they weren't intuitive. The little thumb VR knob is awfully small to run rear steer but I'm getting the hang of it. I also use the channel status screen to know when my rear steering is centered (ie - I don't rely on the detent that would arguably hinder its use for steering). What's also cool is when I was trying different buttons for the steering, I didn't need to reset end points. I've always read we should reverse motor rotation for a brushless motor instead of reversing it on the remote. Have you ever tried reversing the motor rotation with your Hobbywing programming card instead of reversing the transmitter?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      In all of the Hobbywing manuals I've seen, it calls for the throttle channel to be reversed (for whatever reason.). I know that you can't even get a 1080 to calibrate unless the transmitter is set to CH2 reverse.🤷‍♂️
      I haven't found a better option for 4WS than the RC4GS, using the VR knob for rear steer. It's nearly perfect, if only Radiolink could see into our minds and put a bigger pot on the board. The one that's in there is pretty small, and I'm afraid of pulling it off the board one day. Then we'll REALLY find out if I can fix what I done broke.

      It's functionally fine. I still do not regard it as an upgrade from the GT5.

      The Kimbrough 134 is one of my favorite R/C things, and I need like 7 more of 'em-- but even Kimbrough themselves have been out-of-stock for 3 or 4 months now.

    the Gt5 is still one of my favorites.
    the G7p is likely to get replaced but I don't know by what yet. I like the added control but the ergonomics kinda suck. The trigger having less throw isn't great.

    What budget radio do you recommend for a twin MOA RC4WD Bully. Needs to do channel mixing and a good ergonomic way of selecting both front and rear dig.

    Unless I'm wrong, the newest version of the Radiolink has a removable battery tray to install the bigger lipos, has all useful features of the new Flysky, AND can control multiple rigs without having to power the rig off when switching. I think it puts the receiver to sleep when you switch to another model. So, unless I'm wrong, you could get away with 1 or 2 RC6 Radiolinks and be good. I have 2 GT5s (control multiple but I'm starting to dislike not being able to drive multiple at once) that I really like, but I think I'm going to switch over to Radiolink for more features. I do have rigs with multiple light options, so I actually could use the 7th channel, but it's not worth the torture of the new Flysky.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, The battery tray just pops out. I have LiPos in all of my Airtronics, and half of the Radiolinks. The FlySkys all used to be on those Urgenex 1000mah LiPos until I had one of them blow up on the charger, so I retired all of 'em. I have some Hobby People 2S packs in my MX3X still going strong, and all over 10 years old. I'm gradually working toward getting them all on LiPos, as I'm going through AAs at an unsustainable rate.
      I'm not a "multiple rigs on one radio guy." Never have been. I have two radios with two rigs bound to 'em, but they're the types that would never be driven together-- like an Arrma Limitless and an Associated SC8.2e. No crawler radio sharin' 'round here.

  • @PeterCPRail8748

    Thanks for your honesty. The other major crawler channels raved about this. The programability of this radio is God awful. I was looking at this radio, a Radiolink GR6 on Amazon, and a Turbo racing A82 7 channel from my local hobby store that has them on a killer deal right now. I think I will be going with the Turbo Racing as the value and ease of programability is there. As here in Canada, both the radiolink and flysky go for 110 to 120 and the Turbo Racing at my hobby shop is 79 bucks.
    Plus it looks a lot better. I was considering it as Vanguishs new rtr has the Turbo racing 4 channel, and it's a great performer. Thus, the 7 channel must be the same quality, if not better.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had never even heard of the Turbo Racing A82, it has essentially zero representation here in the US. So weird what makes it and what doesn't. Sadly, the only way I could test one is to wait 3-4 weeks for one from AliExpress. But if I could replace this G7P, it would be worth it.

    • @PeterCPRail8748
      @PeterCPRail8748 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Crawler Canyon yeah it seems to be popular in Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand from the vids on TH-cam. Only one US vid I can find. It also goes by TB S2

    I read that the G7P had 2 wheels on the box, the plastic one and one with foam. So probably there are 2 bundles, what you got and another with 2 wheels included.

    After replacing the NB4 handwheel the control feel will be much better.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up modifying an old Sanwa wheel (I think a replacement wheel for an M8) to fit, and that is indeed much better.
      Sadly, every time I use the radio, I like it a little less. The Radiolink RC6GS is now 7-channel (the V3 model,) costs the same, and feels a lot nicer (IMO.)
      There won't be more than the one FS-G7P in my fleet. In Flysky, I genuinely prefer the GT-5. The RC4GS is my hands-down favorite economy radio.

      It's a Kimbrough Scalloped Wheel Grip #134. They do appear to be out of stock pretty much everywhere (and have been for almost a year,) which is why I have like eight radios without them.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is be no means a terrible radio. What I find unfortunate about it is that honestly, it is a small step up from a GT5, and it has enough annoyances built into it that I will never own more than one. I actually like the GT5 more.
      I hope you get the whole thing-- a LOT of sellers are listing the RX as if it's the whole thing, and the item numbers are almost identical. But if you get the TX+RX for 17 bucks, you'll be over the moon at the performance for the price.

    I really wanted to like this radio, but after getting it and having a play I found the menu annoying. My radio also started to have the glitchy steering, any small tap to the radio would cause the wheels on the truck to shimmy and when I tried to do a firmware update the program glitched and now the radio is dead.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I must say that's not entirely promising. I'm trying to push through the terrible menu system, so fingers crossed that mine "stays healthy."
      Mush like my experience with the ISDT ESC70, most videos are singing praise on it (ever since upload, my feed keeps suggesting a G7P video with a thumbnail exclaiming "Best radio under $100!!!" It's not even the most decent radio under a hundred bucks. I don't hate it, but man did I want more.

    • @Steve_J81
      @Steve_J81 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrawlerCanyon I made the mistake of ordering extra receivers so a $70 radio turned into $150 (I wont be doing that again lol) I've come to the decision that I will stick to my GT5 for my bashers and my NB4 for my crawlers. I jumped on the NB4 when it first came out and only paid $150 with 2 receivers and its been amazing. Speaking of the ISDT ESC70 I was about to pull the trigger on one based off the glowing reviews of other, but then your debacle happened and I said nope I don't want that $25 headache.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ISDT ESC70 sits (currently) uncontested atop my pyramid of "R/C things I most regret buying." It's inexcusably bad. And I bought a Redcat Wendigo.

    I hot glue my radiolink battery cover every time because it bows enough to have the middle batteries come out enough to shut it off,but other than that it’s a pretty great radio for the price👍🏻like my gt5’s as well but this fly sky your showing seem a lil too much 😬

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      After this review especially, I maintain that the Radiolink RC4 is the sweet-spot in bang-for-your-buck.
      You can get a nice 2800mah 2S LiPo for the RC4 that lasts FOREVER for about $20. I'm "upgrading" my Radiolinks one at a time. All of my (now ancient) Airtronics radios are on 2S, and need to be charged about once every 3-4 months.

  • @Fantaman900

    You can complain the NB-4 is expensive but all 17 models fit, you can also have all 17 rigs on and it will only control the 1 selected model. So you only need 1 and with my math that is cheaper than a bunch of cheap radio's. But do whatever you prefer man. I'm really happy going from GT3 and RTR radio's to NB life. uh my tank 300 also came with noble lite, so I have 2 now.

    • @Fantaman900

      BTW sens is for telemetry sensors, like a external voltage sensor I plug into balance port of my lipo so I can see cell voltage.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't do multiple rigs on one radio*. Every rig has to have it's own radio and at least one battery-- so for 17 rigs, I have 17 LiPos. The multiple receiver thing is absolutely not my bag.
      *I do have a speed run car (Arrma Limitless) and a 4WD truck (Associated SC8.2e) sharing a radio, but I would never be driving those together. A series like The Invitational would be nearly impossible with "radio sharing." Beyond that, The savings is marginal-- at about $35 each for receivers and $240 for the initial radio, the savings wouldn't outweigh the inconvenience. (there's actually 26 vehicles here total.)

    • @FaithSaraG
