Same. I went to my local shelter to look for a cat. They guidelines set by my parents were “short haired female, over 3 years old.” I noticed while I was looking at other cats, this black and white tuxedo patterned cat had been following me around. So I decided to take a break from looking for cats to adopt, and give him some attention. Long story short, I ended up with a long haired, male, barely 2 years old, cat. He is my best friend, and I couldn’t imagine life without him.
The only thing better than having a Cat, is having two, Cats are exponential.

I love Tuxedo cats I found a 2 week old Tuxedo kitten in my back yard about 16 years ago I had to bottle feed her for a couple of weeks I had her a little over 14 years and she got real sick I had to put her down. I really loved that cat she was special.

When I see Kitty IN THE BACKGROUND, she looks confused, and a little sad. You have two hands - pet them BOTH!!!
She introduced kitten too fast to Kitty which does not help matters.
Plus she is constantly holding and cuddling Gigi right in front of Kitty.
I can see Kitty getting jealous and angry from this scenario.
Plus she comes back from vacation with new kitten in arms while Kitty is meowing waiting for her return.
That had to shock poor Kitty.
I am glad Gigi has a new home and she is precious, but I also worry about Kitty, like yourself.

The kitten is dehydrated. That’s what kitten’s do when they need more fluids. If you buy some kitten milk replacer, like KMR, and add more water to it than is called for (so if it calls for 1 scoop of powder to 1 scoop of water, add 2 scoops of water. KMR also comes already mixed, but once you open the can, I think it has to be used fairly soon.) and add it to her wet food, mixing it into the wet food really well, your kitten will just love it. You may see a reduction in the suckling, or she may stop suckling altogether.
