    Total consumption with the 4S Diesel: between 6 and 7 litres / 100 km, quite reasonable. However, compare the Hybrid episodes to that!

    • @Luniii737
      @Luniii737 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good figure for 4L V8 diesel. But I bet it's one of the dirtiest diesel engines. I'm actually shocked that companies still build such big diesel engines in 2017...

    • @bcepni00
      @bcepni00 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously? Is it that low?

    • @Luniii737
      @Luniii737 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @GarugaHunter
      For 4L V8? Yes, sure. Ofc many modern 4 cylinder 2L diesel engines do 4-5 litres, but that's also half the displacement and half the cylinders... And I bet this car weighs quite a lot too. For what it is, it's definitely impressive.
      Now when you'd check out the last Kia Sorento review with 9 litres of consumption (4 cylinder 2.2L), that is very bad. I mean sure this car weighs even more, but the competitors do much better than that. It's horrible, there is no excuse for that.

      Hi, thomas I want to give a suggestion, please in the end of your reviews, give the cars a final score based on Design, quality, Sustainability, safty and fuel economy.

    • @CinemaUnited
      @CinemaUnited 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Roth Big diesel engines could be cleaner than big petrol engines. All car companies just wanted to make a bigger profit margin by cheating the tests. The new E-class 4 banger diesel is the cleanest fossil fuel car on the market. A diesel plugin hybrid with a new V6 diesel could be a dream drivetrain. Electric in the city and diesel on the highways. (Not the Q7 e-tron because that diesel also cheated the tests)

      Keksi the Labrador perfect if you need a lot of cargo space with 4/5 people on board. The boot space is on low side for such a big car. Still, if I could afford the 4S diesel I'd buy one in a heartbeat. It's beautiful and a perfect long distance cruiser.

    The more I look at the estate the more I like it, which is a good sign. Usually I'm a fan of Thomas-blue, but on this particular model I would pick mine in Irish/British racing green (+dark brown interior) which is for me the perfect colour for any Porsche if you want to keep it more conservative and classy.

    Fantastic Review! My opinion: I agree with Thomas, the fastback style suits the Panamera. Vancouver Island! Rear seats seem low, with knees uncomfortably raised. No stowage for trunk cover? Fantastic driving part with excellent windscreen video view. I like the big 'side assist' lights on the mirrors. These complicated dashboard displays are distracting! Many thanks Thomas!

    Between this and the Cayenne, it would be a tough choice. The Cayenne interior has reached the expiration date. The Panamera interior is spectacular. You have to see it in person. It feels perfect. Ultimately, because I drive on terrible roads and need towing ability, I must wait for the Cayenne to be brought up to date. Thanks for the excellent review, Thomas!

    I own a black 2018 Porsche Panamera S Sport Turismo.. The only thing I have a complaint about is that my $126k car doesn't have wireless charging. I know it's a small thing, but it really is convenient and would be a small cost for them. There is a clip in the center console to hold your phone and my S9 just doesn't fit well while having to plug it in. It actually bent my plug putting it in there. If it had wireless charging it would be a perfect car. Love the features in my car and the center screen is outstanding, the stereo is outstanding.

    Brilliant review... No gimmicky presenting and driving the car as meant to be driven. Some really insightful bits too. Could see the steering difference, and get what you mean about 50% max to front wheels, so even if everything onto one front wheel you don't get 100% of the car's power there.

    Great review, Thomas: thanks a lot. If I were able to afford to buy any car, then it would probably be this Porsche. My only criticism of Porsche is the fact that there is no head up display option on their cars. It seems most other manufacturer's offer HUD now and I think Porsche are lagging behind. I have been using HUD for seven years and love it. It must be a bit of a bugger trying to slot this Porsche into a car park space in the UK due to the length.

    Thomas in Canada!! Welcome Thomas!!!
    No Canadian license plates? (maybe you were driving a car not being offered in Canada? I think diesels have been deleted from the Porsche Canada lineup.) Too bad you were so far away from Toronto! Let me know if you are coming here!! Vancouver island is gorgeous though.
    I love the design of this vehicle, but the base prices in Porsches are amusingly deceiving. Everybody knows they are versions that nobody will ever order. 110k CAD to start and add a couple options the car is easily 125-140k CAD. (options that come standard on a Kia. And no remote releases for the back seats???)
    Hoped you enjoyed visiting Canada Thomas and crew!

    In my point of view the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the most beautiful and sporty estate you can purchase on the market!! The inside-concept seems to be very versatile for such a sports car! Why not ? The silhouette looks so elegant and sharp 😘 In my opinion the Sport Turismo GTS is the best version of the Panamera when the car is available 😍

    Hi, what's the major differences between Panamera ST vs Macan GTS apart from the price tag? Is it just the difference in height and some engine spec thats all?? How do they drive differently? Which one is more agile and "fun" less boring like Sedan or regular SUVs?

    I think that Porsche did an industry first butt-lift. Not the usual facelift, as so any were unhappy about the rear end and not the front end of the Panamera :)

    I just noticed a very compromised design on the Panamera Sport Turismo that is kinda bugging me. The rear passenger windows are three pieces (two on door/ one before C-pillar) and this design compromise kinda takes away from the beautiful silhouette of the Sport Turismo.

    This car is like a nice tot for who can afford it. However I'm thinking that parking this in Europe may be tricky. Driving on empty streets in the Canadian woods is probably ok. Also it's puzzling that it's so crammed in the back especially being so long. Family sports car lol! I don't get it. It also seems to scream for attention with colour, noise, shape etc.
    The review is nice however just I do not see myself ever wanting it. Tnx, Thomas! Used your reviews to buy my latest car!

    Thomas I like panameras. I used to hate them but now they are kinda growing on me. They are doing everything right but I got a point something. That fake key/knob/wtv you wanna call it it is one of the most hideous thing I have seen on a car! That is just awful! Or you do a start/stop push button or you keep the classic style, you don't do that on a car like this or any car for that matters. I drive a panamera 4s and believe me, one of the things I love is to insert that key fob and turn it to ear the engine come alive! Always respected that on Porsche but that one detail pisses me off! Keep up the good work!

    Has Porsche changed the backlight in the center console (temp-knobs and capacitive buttons)? In the Autogefühl non-Sport Turismo E-Hybrid review the backlight flickers, but in this review it is still. Or have you changed your camera setup/settings? As always a nice comprehensive german review. No fuss, just indepth facs! :-)

    Why Porsches doesn't have good backseats or knee room even with such long wheel base ? A skoda Octavia would have more knee room.

    • @Bleakend
      @Bleakend 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've sat in the new regular Panamera; I'm 185cm tall and I have loads of headroom and legroom. The seats are very comfy too, definitely more comfortable than an Octavia's seats.

    • @stubones
      @stubones 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nakul singh agreed. For such a big car the interior space is rather small. The boot space isn't good either for such a long car. It may have a lot to do with the long bonnet and engine bay which means the passenger space starts quite far back.

    • @Bleakend
      @Bleakend 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm guessing the headroom would be slightly better if they didn't get the pano roof, and if Thomas wasn't this tall :)

    • @stubones
      @stubones 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wess Lee it costs several times more than the Octavia so it's bound to be more comfortable but there is no doubt the skoda has far more room inside with a much bigger cargo area. Perfect as a taxi :)

      Thanks pal !
      We have researched this issue for many years now so please take your time to go through our extensive resources stated below as they answer every single question we have yet received concerning this matter.
      At Autogefühl, we have already received several thousands (!) comments, messages and mails that more and more people want to combine enjoying their car with reducing the environmental impact at the same time. We believe that sustainable luxury is possible or at least we should do everything to support that. Those many thousand people confirming this trend, motivate us to give you the most authentic information and background on the product parts. It is not about what you bought in the past, and it is not about blaming anyone, it is about what you decide in the future and what you can decide and influence as a customer. So we want you to have all information that you need for a decision you later enjoy and like best yourself.
      Check out our special video addressing car CEOs as a first summary and also see conditions of animal skin production:
      th-cam.com/video/LNSUzZXzpdc/w-d-xo.html
      List of practical reasons against animal skin seats:

      1. animal skin seats are often sold as an expensive option, by going for base trim level seats you can save a lot of money and get a better price-performance-deal (often the manufacturers claim that animal leather is top of luxury because they can earn the best money with it)
      2. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat, probably you need seat cooling
      3. they get very cold in winter and you need seat heating
      4. on cloth or microfibre surfaces, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling
      5. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like an old sofa
      6. if you want leather look or need seats that can be wiped clean easier, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review th-cam.com/video/y2wNGFKa4M0/w-d-xo.html) So Tesla shows a good example for that
      7. More manufacturer names for their good alternatives: Mercedes MBTex/Artico for leatherette, Dinamica for microfibre. BMW Sensatec, Toyota Sof-Tex, Lexus Nu-Luxe (all faux leather)

      To the environmental reasons:

      1. The way the cows and other intelligent and social animals are raised and held are not according to the basic values that we all share (also see videos below)
      2. The factory farming industry can be accounted for at least 40 % of climate emissions and thus is (according to numerous sources you can look up) the number one reason for climate change and environmental destruction. It is the number one reason for deforestation, two thirds of all agricultural land on earth is used for growing animal food crops. If you would feed humans directly by using the agricultural land, you could produce much more food for everyone. See this interesting essay for more on climate emissions background: www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livestock%20and%20Climate%20Change.pdf
      3. It is not only cows who are suffering, but also the environment and to a big part also humans. Think of slavery-like working conditions in slaughterhouses (there are plenty of documentaries about this) or think of chemically altered drinking water in animal skin production villages as also seen in the video footage.
      4. The discussion, for which body part the cow is killed first, is very patronizing. But if you really think it would be important why someone gets killed in first place: There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even while still being (part-)alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body.
      5. So even if a cow gets theoretically killed for meat first, in every case you give additional money to an industry that relies on killing, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". A the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover up that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy.
      6. To the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/

      To “But leatherette is not sustainable due to petrochemical production”
      1. Indeed some fabrics and micro fibres are oil based, however most oil is spent on energy production, heating and fuel. The share of oil used for artificial cloth etc. is very very small.
      2. If you look at the whole production process, the leatherette is way more sustainable than the leather produce.
      3. The best to-come solution are indeed plant-based materials like Pinatex (based on pineapple leaves) or new materials based on mycelia (roots of mushrooms) or other innovative natural products. That’s the future.

      More special video episodes:

      1. A initial special video from Autogefühl considering the use of leather can be found here: th-cam.com/video/8f91KgbVbJQ/w-d-xo.html
      2. And another one right here: th-cam.com/video/tMNgcLE0LDU/w-d-xo.html
      3. Furthermore, you’ll find the footage of leather production also here, where people are walking in chemicals etc. and animals have to watch their friends being slaughtered in front of their eyes: th-cam.com/video/JipYvuDsI6s/w-d-xo.html
      timecode starting 27:46
      4. This is another video which very well summarizes the torture of leather production, shots taken at big farms which directly produce for the automotive industry: th-cam.com/video/OgHs239bAnE/w-d-xo.html
      5. Please note that those videos are made by well-known journalists and cameramen who were not influenced by any animal welfare organisation, they supply their footage to the animal rights groups of course. I partly know the creators of the video footage personally and they are all authentic. You don’t have to search long to find cruel production environments anyway.

      Manufacturers reactions:
      We started the very first inquiry years ago, with the result that car manufacturers do not reveal their sources of animal skin AT ALL. If it all would be clean and happening without harm, why don’t they show it to us whereas they are showing us every other detail of their products? They have good reason not to, because there is no such thing as a clean animal skin production without harming cows, humans and the environment. The only thing a manufacturer can do is increase their effort for a better future, and we are helping with in-depth talks and interviews by presenting the increasing customer demand for sustainable luxury.
      So meanwhile, we more often also get feedback that a lot of manufacturers are working on leather-free interiors and are aware of the situation. E.g. Bentley, Mini and Kia have started vegan car interior programmes. Tesla and Mercedes are already showing major choices for sustainable interiors, you always have to pay attention to the details when ordering, of course - and we are happy to give advice. However, much has to be done still and the Autogefuehl community is massively helping in boosting the positive change!

      Help to raise awareness on this subject. Thanks!
