Funny thing you should mention dead faiths: Unlike Feudal and Clan, there is no penalty to being in an administrative realm and converting to a non-organised faith. I've been able to educate my first player heir into Slavic Paganism, and then as that heir live long enough to get the 7-10k piety needed to revive Hellenism~! (The only downside of this run rather than some other dead faith is that you have no way of taking over the realm of Administrative Counts except becoming Emperor/Empress. (All the schemes to take a county off neighbouring fellow vassals and such only works on the governors of other Themes, and the Emperor AI almost never creates new ones, instead just assigning counts like they're a feudal ruler.))
