Bright spot! You persevered and made a really cute Stitch! Your face when you were reading through the instructions was priceless! Thanks for enter me as I plod along on sleeve island. 😊
I made the stitch from this kit last year, got it from Five Below. I didn't even bother making Scrump. Relieved to see that the ears issue wasn't just me! I ended up grabbing an ear pattern from a different pattern. I talked 3 non-hookers in my life not to start with it and offered to teach them to crochet from that different pattern instead.
Wow, that looked like a total mind be derived of a pattern. I say pattern in the looset sense of the word! Well done for problem solving and not throwing it across the room. 😁👍
I got my kit from the goodwill too ! I’m new to crochet and this looked real intimidating I searched it up and I found a black girl I was toooo happy 😭🫶🏽🫶🏽
I just bought this kit in September 2024. It seems like they’ve tried to fix some of the errors. Every yarn color was labeled and also indicated whether it was for stitch or scrump. I also haven’t seen the dee on the instructions, so maybe they went and corrected that typo. So far, I am only about halfway through the head. I am new to crocheting. I’ve done a woobles kit and a red heart amigurumi kit. So far so good but I’m a little nervous about getting to the ears because from the videos I’ve seen from a year ago, that part really had people stumped.
Yeah... it was very frustrating to work up, and I def wouldn't recommend it if someone asked me about it, lol. It is manageable once you are aware of the typos. The instructions for the 2nd ear are totally garbage, but if you're a confident crocheter, you can just make the 1st ear twice and fold one in the opposite direction. Although, if you do that, you will def run out of yarn.
Loved your video. Question though... how did you make his nails? I knew from another reviewer that the pattern was going to be terrible, so I started by making notes all over the pattern, and when I got to the nails, I just got so confused. Any help there would be appreciated. Oh, and I seem to have a "revised" version of the pattern because mine does not have the "DEE" instead of "DEC" error that others have noted with their patterns. So my copy isn't AS terrible as the earlier version.
@@QuirkyMonday I actually now found my answer. I found another video which gave the pattern, and noted the corrections needed. I was still a LITTLE confused as the pattern never says that you are putting the nails directly on the feet. I thought because it says "make two" that I was making a piece that I would later sew on. Once I figured out that I needed to work the stitches directly on the feet it became more clear. But the written instructions that I have say to stitch two together when it should read to make a double crochet. HUGE difference, right? Once I had all that information I was able to make his nails come out nice, and his feet look cute. I'm now almost done my Stitch. Only one ear left, then to sew him all together.
*dee* is a typo. "dee (sc 5, dec) x3" means work one decrease, then work the parenthesis instruction (5 single crochets followed by a decrease) 3 times. Hope that helps.
The rest of the kit wasnt too bad. Tons of typos and i had to fill in alot by assuming stuff. But these dang ears im so confused! But im too far along, i cant stop now. Lol. Please help?!
I modified the first ear to be wirked flat and followed the first ear instructions. Then I folded it and single crochet along the open edge. I made the second ear exactly the same as the first but folded it the opposite direction so they mirrored each other. (Ignore the instructions written for the second ear - they're hot garbage lol) good luck!
@@QuirkyMondaya massive part of me wishes you could share how you modified the ears. My right ear is all kinds of twisted and the left isn't happening. Like, I got to round 12, then realized I only had 20 stitches, I should have had 24. But round 9 told me to decrease. So I ripped it back to round 7 and I'm lost.

He turned out absolutely spot on! Good work!

Great video! I recently crocheted a Scrump for my niece. It was fairly easy but…Stitch looked 10X more difficult!!💜🧶
Thank you for your video!! I currently have an earless stitch from this kit and ready to give up 😢

Good luck! I think I noted the errors in the pattern at some point in the video lol. You got this!
Great job. He looks adorable!
THANK YOU MAN, My aunt got me this kit and I was struggling with it

@arekaydub4277 I'm glad they fixed a lot of the errors! Hopefully all goes well for you with the ears :)
Bright spot! My sock mojo will be expanding to a sweater soon! Baby steps!
I’m so impressed that you didn’t put stitch in time out.
My bf just got me the chrochet set of stitch Idn we’re to start lol I’m new to this
Good luck! I've heard that they've fixed a lot of the errors 🤞🏽🤞🏽
What size is the hook they provide ?
I don't remember, but I think I used a 3.5mm
I have this same kit and it makes no sense what so ever ☹️

Tbh I don't remember about the nails - I'll edit this comment when I check

i’m so glad you found an answer because i just pulled out the pattern and was confused all over again 😂
Hi love your video had a question though do you know what it means when it says in rnd 15 change to blue berry blue, dee (sc 5, dec ) x3
*dee* is a typo.
"dee (sc 5, dec) x3" means work one decrease, then work the parenthesis instruction (5 single crochets followed by a decrease) 3 times.

@@QuirkyMonday thank you so much was stuck there lol ..
Cual es el precio del kit??
$6.99 at Hobby Lobby.
How much yarn did you have left
none. i ran out of the body yarn and had to fill in with "close enough" colored yarn from stash.
The rest of the kit wasnt too bad. Tons of typos and i had to fill in alot by assuming stuff. But these dang ears im so confused! But im too far along, i cant stop now. Lol.

Thank you, you rock! So then just use two crochet hooks for either side? And then connect them?? I have every other part done. Im so close!
Im making it for my daughter, i cant quit now. What example would that set? 😅😂

Wish you had actually done it step by step so we could too. I bought it and wanted a tutorial
I didn't post this to be a tutorial. It's just a crochet with me type vlog :)
:3
Two words about the pattern just by watching you power thru...HOT MESS!
