What shadow gens was able to achieve is crazy. I was expecting 7s or. 8s from critics but 8s and 9s, 10/10 on steam and sales are crazy for an add on game etc. Remember this ain’t even a full game but a fun little bonus to og gens. This game genuinely broke the cycle. So they need to maintain this momentum. Pls Kishimoto cook on frontiers 2🙏
how the hell is Shadow Generations not a full game when it's longer than Sonic Generations? my playthrough of the Sonic Generations remaster was around 3 hours, where Shadow Generations took me 3 hours and 20 minutes, it's literally longer, I wasn't even rushing through Sonic Generations, hell I even took a break while leaving the game running for like 20 minutes so it didn't even take THAT long, so yeah, I'd say Shadow Generations deserves to be called a full game, seperate from Sonic Generations except for having connected stories

They made Shadow a far superior character to Sonic with Shadow generations. His story was a masterpiece. And a total redemption from shadow the edgey hedgey.

My only complaint about this game is them using the Forces/Frontiers Modern Sonic model in Shadow Gens. Literally makes zero sense because when you flip back to base game, he has his older model with the longer quills. Why are they so hell bent on using the Forces model?
They've been using that model for a long time now, so it's probably easier for them to just reuse that. For better or for worse, Sega reuses what feels like 80% of assets in a new game. Way more than I've seen any other company do.
The fact that we now have come full circle back to his original arch from Adventure 2, of why he fights and what he fights for now was so paramount. This was a fantastic campaign and edition and hope we have more of Shadow. I am for the first time. A Solid Shadow fan after Shadow Gens.
I actually made a 4kids voice pack for OG Generations back in 2021, not sure if it will work for the remaster but hopefully that can help for the time being, it's on Gamebanana if you're curious (YT doesn't allow links for some reason) As for Shadow Generations, I've been working on it, just haven't had time to finish it but expect the double Jason meal soon!

I’m so glad they give you all the statues in the statue room automatically because before you literally had to Google a list of all the codes to input and then you have to input them all one at a time for like 80 statues it was like so time consuming!

The gameplay in Shadow's campaign needs to be the new standard going forward! The level design, the graphics, and the controls, omg the controls! Frontiers would've been so much better if both the cyber space levels, and the controls, were more like this! Also, I now this is a reach, but I'm really hoping that this is just one giant tease for Sonic Adventure 3 haha.
I hope with all this positive Acclaim that they allow for more DLC levels for shadows campaign besides the one that were already getting for the movie in December I would just like to see a new version of White jungle since all the other SA2 two levels got to make an appearance

i once said that shadow animation is better than unleased intro and got made fun of "there will never be something better than unleashed" so yeah from my experience sonic fans really do seem to not be used do with new stuff being better than anything before and getting compliments. i just hope they can keep making better games and push sonic to new peaks making new best game

I thought Kingdom Valley was probably the weakest stage in Shadow. I thought the Ark was probably the best with full rooms you could choose different paths where Kingdom Valley had the issue of many modern games of just being a couple platforms over a pit of despair. I mean at least with the Ark there's an excuse for that but the stage really felt the most fleshed out. Sunset Heights was probably the second with all the added gimmicks. Downside to that stage to me is the lack of exploration and options. Really don't think any stage came close to matching the Ark on that one thing.
Not for overall GOTY, but in that subcategory they use for family games / platformers, especially since Mario hasn't dropped this year, but Sonic will lose to Astro Bot

I would've bought this game but I spent $300 on my halloween costume because me and my best friend are going to a party. I bought a real official deadmau5 head and a red suit and tie, it was expensive 💀 I'll wait for the game to go on sale
To be honest you said 2020 (COVID year) is the worst year for Sonic well not exactly the game I enjoyed myself playing but it was for a short period of time that was "Sonic Smackdown" it was fanmade, not by SEGA.
That doesn't count since it's fan made though. Prem meant the official Sonic games, not the fan made ones. Sonic Smackdown is still a good game though.
Kingdom Valley is probably the best level they’ve designed since Heroes. We don’t need the boost. I so wish they would ditch it. Shadow floating forward looks so goofy and I want more time in the levels. The open zone is okay. Still feels like a bunch of objects placed with no rhyme nor reason but at least there’s better rewards for exploring. Music is awful but at least you can replace it with actual music. Forced 2-D garbage is still garbage. Radical Highway sucked. Overall I’d give it a 6 out of 10. I don’t have any recency bias. It’s decent for what it is but it’s still not what I want to see from Sonic. I didn’t like it enough to bother doing all S ranks, all challenges and 100%, which says enough.

Man, look, it's the honeymoon phase. People are gonna give it high reviews just so it can be sold to a wider audience. Shadow generations is ok at most. Doom powers really don't make sense. Biolizard should have some of those features 🤷🏿♂️. Ummmm, not to mention that the Biolizard fight isn't as hard, and the tone of it isn't as dark. You fight these bosses for shadow to do some weird animation for 4 to 5 seconds when i would rather the one hit that we usually get with the camera shaking, etc. When you look into shadow generations, the enemies are boring/braindead. The enemies that you use to aim and teleport should put up some type of fight instead of standing there waiting to be used, lol. Man, you boost past everything/ you rail grind for most of the stages. The best boss fight is meph. Find tools for a rocket that leads to nowhere is some type of weird filler to extend game play is so trash 😂.white space reminds me of Kronos. There is no legit reason for shadow to be on Chaos Island. If you're gonna have him there, let shadow fight a titan 🤌🏿🫴🏿🔥. We got the music and the stage why not add the boss. Especially when the assets are being used again. That's why it's not hard to mod 1-2 in sxsg. Why Shadow has frontiers titan music is a very confusing thing. Oh, why is nobody not talking about the sonics portion? Drop dash doesn't make sense. Maybe for classic sonic, but modern sonic feels weird to have it. It's not a true remaster tbh. We should've had more features for Sonic, but hey, i don't care anymore cause it was my last purchase from sega. They could've done so much more with this game, but i was expecting too much. I was hoping we get more stages for Sonic, like hill top zone, labyrinth zone, or flying battery. I feel like they could've pulled it off, especially after seeing what the modding community did. Day 1.
The only way to play boost Sonic for me is boost on square and the homing attack on X. I hated boost being on R2 in Frontiers, no way was I using it here

I think Mania was overwhelmingly positive when it first came out. That value will likely drop with time.

To be honest you said 2020 (COVID year) is the worst year for Sonic well not exactly the game I enjoyed myself playing but it was for a short period of time that was "Sonic Smackdown" it was fanmade, not by SEGA.
That doesn't count since it's fan made though. Prem meant the official Sonic games, not the fan made ones. Sonic Smackdown is still a good game though.
Kingdom Valley is probably the best level they’ve designed since Heroes.
We don’t need the boost. I so wish they would ditch it. Shadow floating forward looks so goofy and I want more time in the levels.
The open zone is okay. Still feels like a bunch of objects placed with no rhyme nor reason but at least there’s better rewards for exploring.
Music is awful but at least you can replace it with actual music.
Forced 2-D garbage is still garbage.

Overall I’d give it a 6 out of 10. I don’t have any recency bias. It’s decent for what it is but it’s still not what I want to see from Sonic. I didn’t like it enough to bother doing all S ranks, all challenges and 100%, which says enough.

Man, look, it's the honeymoon phase. People are gonna give it high reviews just so it can be sold to a wider audience. Shadow generations is ok at most. Doom powers really don't make sense. Biolizard should have some of those features 🤷🏿♂️. Ummmm, not to mention that the Biolizard fight isn't as hard, and the tone of it isn't as dark. You fight these bosses for shadow to do some weird animation for 4 to 5 seconds when i would rather the one hit that we usually get with the camera shaking, etc. When you look into shadow generations, the enemies are boring/braindead. The enemies that you use to aim and teleport should put up some type of fight instead of standing there waiting to be used, lol. Man, you boost past everything/ you rail grind for most of the stages. The best boss fight is meph. Find tools for a rocket that leads to nowhere is some type of weird filler to extend game play is so trash 😂.white space reminds me of Kronos. There is no legit reason for shadow to be on Chaos Island. If you're gonna have him there, let shadow fight a titan 🤌🏿🫴🏿🔥. We got the music and the stage why not add the boss. Especially when the assets are being used again. That's why it's not hard to mod 1-2 in sxsg. Why Shadow has frontiers titan music is a very confusing thing. Oh, why is nobody not talking about the sonics portion? Drop dash doesn't make sense. Maybe for classic sonic, but modern sonic feels weird to have it. It's not a true remaster tbh. We should've had more features for Sonic, but hey, i don't care anymore cause it was my last purchase from sega. They could've done so much more with this game, but i was expecting too much. I was hoping we get more stages for Sonic, like hill top zone, labyrinth zone, or flying battery. I feel like they could've pulled it off, especially after seeing what the modding community did. Day 1.
