Ubisoft had this set in motion. But due to time being limited of when it was due, they had to scrap what they were already working on, and create the mini game theme instead. They had a whole big plot if you actually looked into it. The Rabbids were to be considered the most innocent and friendly creatures in the Glade of Dreams. However, they were bullied, so they went to live underground for a couple of years. Eventually pushing breaking points and snapping, they returned with machines and weapons to get revenge. However, as said before, time was scrapped and we were given this. Me personally, I still appreciate it; everyone has different opinions, but still. It would be nice to see them in this way.
Man...when I saw this as a kid I had never played a Rayman game...but I NEEDED this. It got me so insanely hyped for the Wii and then...Ubisoft pulled the rug out from under us and gave us a mini game collection. That was the first time I got Nuts and Boltsed.

FunkyFreak well actually they have made good games you know, their Rayman games (not including the Rabbid ones) were pretty alright, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was fine (due to the music being composed by the Legendary Grant Kirkhope and one of the bosses has a song that reminds us of Conker) so that caused the Rabbids hate bandwagon to decrease a little, and finally the two South Park games Ubisoft made (which were “The Stick of Truth” and “The Fractured But Whole”) which were two of Ubisoft’s best creations (with the help of Trey Parker and Matt Stone) so not all of Ubisoft’s games are what you expect or think
In my personal opinion even if this game turned out to be WAY different than it was first intented, it still managed to be one of my all time favorites to play with friends on the wii over how competitive it can get

Couldn't apparently work correctly if almost every Rabbid looked different, so they had to choose one of the designs, And probably taking inspiration of the first original sketches and concepts, the definitive Rabbid design was born.
This had to do with the time they were given. They had this in development, but Ubisoft told the creators their due date in which they had little time. They were scrapped and forced to give a different product, which is what we've gotten in the end.

I saw this trailer on the internet when I got the first game (I played the 2nd one first since I saw that initially at a store). I thought if I beat the game, all this cool stuff in the trailer would happen...I was wrong.
