Just ordered one so looking for reviews. I've just discovered Vostok and am fascinated by their heritage and history.
I think this watch is a lovely design and had to have one. Quite expensive by Vostok standards but what a looker.

    Hey Peter!
It's been great to see a few Russian pieces on the channel mate!
As you know I'm a ᴍᴀssɪᴠᴇ fan of Soviet era watches. They're miles away from the new Vostok pieces - especially size wise - but you can definitely see the DNA in the styling.
I don't have any modern Vostok but I think that might be changing soon! All my vintage Soviet pieces - Vostok, Raketa, Poljot, Strela etc. - and I've got about 15 or so of them - are tough as nails too! They're soft as on the vintage market and more than a few have real horological history behind them - like the Strela Chronograph that was worn by the Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov during man's 1st ever space-walk and the regular military issue Sturmanskie pilot / field watch that was worn by Yuri Gagarin in the 1st ever manned space flight. I've got examples of both these pieces, they aren't difficult to find and they are pretty reasonable - and tough as nails then as they are today.
Great vid again mate and these might just be the perfect summer knock-about watch!

Well, that didn't take long! I love that you have discovered these Vostoks!
Let me suggest that you next acquire an Amphibia, of the type spelled with a "ph"... I suggest one in the 710 case. These are the original design Amphibia that dates back to 1967 or earlier. The Amfibia (with an "f") you have here is one of the series with modern designs, cases and materials that are quite nice but very much distinct from the traditional Vostok.

I have own an older model of this watch, the dial I have is matt white instead of silverish sun burst dial (so keep in mind if you want to purchase one). One important thing to notice is that the strap bars are NOT A SCREW STYLE BARS, the screwed are only there for decoration and the watch has spring bars for strap. With that said don't try to unscrew them or you are likely to cause some damage.
Other then that the watch friggin lovely, I prefer it over a much more expensive one that I owned, for some reason.

G'day Pete! I noticed that the side profile of the watch pretty much resembles the Oris Aquis....It is really a nice watch, I am impressed. Seeing this review video I smelled sunscreen, I don't know why 😄 I own a watch with a similar case shape and 42 mm diameter. I feel this one with 44 mm might be a little too big (also have a 7" wrist). Cheers mate!

Hello Peter. I enjoyed your review of this watch. I own this exact watch, plus the Amfibia reef i really like both of the watches, but as we are now in the year 2023, the movements should hack. It's a let down for 2 great looking watches.

Hi Peter, just received two watches that I had ordered months ago and one of them is this Vostok Amfibia Red Sea. First I wanted to mention that from the video I actually thought the dial was white (and in fairness the pictures on the Meranom website also make the dial appear white) but for viewers out there to know it's actually a very light silver pearl sunburst dial. I would have preferred a white dial (because I was trying to add my first white dial watch to my collection, oops!) but this watch is so gorgeous that its not even close to being a deal breaker for me. Second I actually don't think the bracelet is that bad. Yes it has a press clasp and it is a finger print magnet but it is surprisingly comfortable, solidly built and I like it's heft. I think it is worth mentioning that the screws on the outside of the lugs are decorative only and the solid end links have curved spring bars on them. It's a good thing I figured that out before I scratched the screws all to hell trying to get them loose! Once I figured that out it was a question of using a very small width springbar tool and a 10x loupe to get the bracelet off.

Nice shot, Peter, of the Omega on the tan strap. Getting back to Russia, I visited a Cold War era Russian Submarine, docked next to the Queen Mary in Long Beach Cal. It was on display as a tourist attraction and I heard that it was now in Australia. The conning tower was massive and there was cheap formica in the Officer's Quarters. Soviet era design, even household appliances were bulky and not that well liked by the collective. They preferred East German household stuff and of course a Swiss Watch was logically a prize possession. I had one Vostok and donated it to TGV (No BS). Enjoyed this vid. Cheers, JP

Yes the factory is still active, in Chistopol, Tatarstan and the Amphibia watches are made with the original tooling. In terms of horology, the original series watches are truly in-house: movements, cases, crystals, dials, hands all made on site.

I love this watch but worried about the custom duty that will be imposed on it while importing it to India !
    Custom duty too high !
But seriously an VFM product ( all amphibian series )

You should check our Raketa, the "Rolex" of Russian watches. Much more expensive but far better finishing.

The ten years service period is a rotting, filthy lie.
You coukd actually double that and the watch would be fine.

This watch looks a lot like the Panerai Luminor submersible without the crown guard. Fantastic.

These higher end vostoks just lack the vostok soul. Why doesn't it have the clever caseback design? That is genius.
    y no domed acrylic crystal?
    y no wobbly crown?
    y no free moving bezel?

I think they're designed to appeal to the export market so are a bit higher quality. I believe that's why the dial is all in English as well.

You found the distinction between amPHibia, which is the old watch and amFibia, which are the new cases, crystals, and designs.
