After three years of active mycological research, I finally have an Enigma tub in the works :) Didnt buy it, maintained the whole... "it will be gifted to me one day".. and low and behold, as I grew in experience and started sharing research materials with fellow mycopals, I did eventually get a gifted isolate from a valuable mycomentor of mine (at beginning of this year). I have a lot of experience with many different mushrooms over the past 25 years, but I’m going to be having my first enigma experience hopefully tonight or tomorrow. I will check back in and edit this post accordingly. Very excited to say the least
Just saw my comment below from 3 months ago. I've now got a grow-bag full of fruiting bodies. It's a bit messy and chaotic in there to be honest. I've got at least 3 different body forms. Most anxiety inducing is a whole load of stringy growth with little leaves of enigma growing off it. This stuff is making its way up the inside of the grow-bag. I also have little clumps of spiky stuff which are getting bigger, but very very slowly. Finally, I have a few areas where I'm getting that classic cauliflower form. I reckon I'll be lucky to get a yield of 10 grams dry from this first flush, but I wasn't expecting to get anything at all from the grow-bag. I'd love to do shoe-boxes or mono-tubs, but the wife's tolerance for this sort of thing is very low. I'm lucky she lets me have a grow-bag :D Basically, any harvest at all counts as a success for me. I've done 4 grows total now and my success rate is 50%.

coconut coir is a great structural fiber for all mushroom substrates! 👍 like... mostly coconut coir, with some grass seed, and corn kernels (yes, the popping-corn type sold in stores) makes a pretty-awesome fruiting substrate. There was also talk around using DMT-containing plant materials in the substrates, and that apparently the psilocybian mycelium could use that as a precursor in generating higher levels of psilocybin. Your room and whole aesthetic vibe reminds me of Portland 🥰 went to school there many years ago, where I first encountered Psilocybes also.
Good morning everyone, I would like to report that my fiancé and I have successfully grown Enigma, whose genetic lineage originated from Tidal Wave and B+. That being said, one thing we learned is this baby likes to be Choked. (Not sexually, but I don’t condemn) In other words, something to keep in mind during cultivation, is not only humidity and temperature as mentioned in Shelby’s video, but free air exchange must be present but kept a very low rate. We use micropore tape for all our tubs, however with Emigma specifically, we used 3 layers of micropore tape on each air hole and only fanned it once a week. Potency is living up to its reputation. We each ate a single gram, and it was very very similar to DMT both in open and closed eyed visuals. It’s more playful than DMT, and much less serious. Hope all of you who are interested have good luck in cultivating this mind bending creature. (Our normal dose of APE or other similarly potent strains is 3.5g, 1g of enigma was enough)
I just set up my enigma grow. I'm a rookie, so I'm using an inject and forget grow bag for the colonisation phase. However, once I have a fully colonised cake (fingers crossed), I'm going to transfer it to a tub. I'll place it on a rack above a layer of saturated vermiculite and do the whole mistingband fanning thing. That worked well for my Cambodians, bit I'm under no illusions about how tricky these guys are to rear. I'm prepared for failure. Wish me luck! Thanks for the content. Love your channel.
This is my first time growing enigma so I'm no expert, though I know you've got to grow them on a block so they can be cut off of the substrate. I 3d printed a "form" / colonizing box with a lid and hole to put micropore tape over. Mixed some spawn with some coir about 1pt/2pt and put it in the box. Once colonized I dropped the solid block in a monotub, in another big tub. ( It's dry in CO) so far so good, brains growing all over my block. They're a pretty slow growing strain.
For educational purposes only (I’ve done X, Molly, sassafras, salvia, cocaine, acid, microdots, candy flipped, a multiple types of mushes) September 1 I took under a eighth of enigma in the woods. No trip setter, did have my uncle with me but he passed out from drinking I don’t drink, some other campers on the road but not too close to us, I had by far the greatest ego death life changing experience of my life. At one point I cried a said laughing a laugh I can only describe as not my own I can’t be this high this isn’t real all while dancing on the road listening to music watching stars. I watched the stars a seen things that looked like ufo , even after rubbing my eyes a changing position looking away multiple times which usually change my perception of what I see. Also side note the day before this I tried about 1 gram to test them. An still had that experience. If you find true enigma which I believe I did. You’ll never forget it…

Enigma is a mid or can be a high-level dosing. I have been doing some experiments on myself with cubes for a while. Recently been noticing taking it at a higher dosage can help with chronic pain. I've even compared it to alcohol and pain medications. I'm honestly amazed and humbled at the same time. That's what got me into mushrooms and plant medicine.
What do you think about the Choco Krinkle Brain? Do you have or know where to get testing info. about it? My experience & 5 other people trying them separately all think it is the most visual & Strongest, that we have ever tried by a good amount & we all tried over 25 different kinds! Can’t help but feel sad it doesn’t spore or reproduce normally, and that it’s like GMO monsanto commercial cropping. Of course this would happen with my current favorite strain.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 8.4 mg of psyilocibin/tryptamines per gram of mushrooms less than 1% alkaloid content? Which would make them about average in alkaloid content? I say average because there are numerous records of samples being 2% or more, and there is alot of data suggesting 10mg per gram is roughly average
Yes, the key word being "roughly" 10mg/gm. I think most cultivars are between 5 and 10mg/gm. But I'm no expert, but you're right, 8mg/gm isn't really impressive. Surprising maybe.
Enigma is a cubensis strain that was developed by Dave Wombat from Wombat Labs and Dave deserves the recognition for this creation. He then crossed Enigma with El Choco and thus came up with Chocolate Crinkle Brain. These varieties are really strong and they remain two of my favorites.
I was mostly commenting on palatability vs potency, but macro vs micro depends on the goal. Frequent microdoses are great for pleasureable feelings and maintaining established mental wellbeing, but profound mental growth happens in the macro region. It's important to identify ahead of time what you are trying to achieve, understanding that you may or may not achieve it. With macrodoses, the willingness to express and take on your latent knowledge, however wonderful or terrifying it may be, is the only way to progress; to acknowledge all that you may have intentionally or unintentionally ignored or instinctually repressed. I'm still working on incorporating elements from some wild rides, particularly 12g APE (not in a hurry to do that again), but I do believe this is part of a balanced diet. Lol.

Enigma has good potency, but is the worst tasting variety I've had, by far. To me, Melmac tastes better than most cubes and is very potent.
