They lifted millions out of poverty because China reformed their economy to allow private property ownership and privately owned businesses. When China abandoned it's centrally planned economy, that's when it became rich. What Julius Malema said about Western imperialism is absolutely correct. But I believe his vision for the South African economy would be a total disaster. Centrally planned economies do not work. And they especially do not work in countries like South Africa where political corruption is rife. They are executing violent gangsters and drug dealers. They have used the military to go after the gangs, and the result has been a 58% reduction in crime. South Africa needs to do the same. The second thing they need to do is to clean up their political corruption. The reason unemployment in South Africa is so high is that nobody wants to invest there due to the insane amount of political corruption. Except China didn't lift millions out of poverty because of socialism. They lifted millions out of poverty because China reformed their economy to allow private property ownership and privately owned businesses. When China abandoned it's centrally planned economy, that's when it became rich. What Julius Malema said about Western imperialism is absolutely correct. But I believe his vision for the South African economy would be a total disaster. Centrally planned economies do not work. And they especially do not work in countries like South Africa where political corruption is rife. What South Africa needs to do in order to prosper is to firstly tackle it's crime problem in a serious way. They need to do something similar to what El Salvador is doing right now. They are executing violent gangsters and drug dealers. They have used the military to go after the gangs, and the result has been a 58% reduction in crime. South Africa needs to do the same. The second thing they need to do is to clean up their political corruption. The reason unemployment in South Africa is so high is that nobody wants to invest there due to the insane amount of political corruption. Companies that have wanted to invest have been asked by political officials to give bribes in order to be allowed to conduct business in the country. This is obviously going to cause put off any investors from wanting to do any kind of business in South Africa and create jobs there. The crime issue is also another reason nobody will invest there.
