    Hi Raj, I'd like to add a tip for the benefit of the viewers.
    Honda has mentioned the ideal slackness of the chain on the swingarm - 30mm.
    However, most people, including the service technicians at Bigwing measured it incorrectly thus resulting in reduced slack and robbing the bike of its USP - smoothness.
    The right way to measure it is by lifting the chain upwards from the bottom, at the centre between the two sprockets, only up to the point where the upper part of the chain (under the protector) stays relaxed. 30 ± 5mm slack this way retains the smooth operation of the drivetrain, provided that other components are in order. I was quite surprised at how loose it has to be to work well. The adjustment will have to be repeated 3-4 times as adjustment in the swing arm scale to balance the wheel affects the tension in the chain. The axle nut is tightened only after the wheel is balanced from both sides and the tension is correct as per the given method.
    Also, service technicians at Bigwing did not balance the wheel using the scale provided on both sides of the swingarm after adjustment. On the right the swingarm was positioned on the second mark, and on the left it was at the third mark, making the bike look asymmetrical from the rear. It would also slightly affect the balance of gyroscopic forces and wear out the tyre and the brake pads unevenly. I can't explain how mental such imprecision drives me.

    Gear oil is best, I am using in dominar 400 from last 4 years and didn't face any issues, when my bike was new i also tried chain sprays and kerosene to clean but in Indian dusty road condition spray didn't last even 50 km, and E90 oil does everything that a chain needs, cleaning, lubricating the chain and chain slider.

    Hi from down south to Malhar! Another insightful video,
    1. Kerosene + 2T oil is good suggestion. I'm yet to try it. But guys who're new to motorcycling will feel it's overwhelming to keep the chains clean with kerosene + scrubbing. It's takes some getting used to get proficient with it😀
    2. I've used Gear oil as chain lube and could say it does a decent job and last not long even in summers. Also they attract dust
    3. I too felt same about Honda Lube. Main headache they cause is make the chain most sticky possible which is pathetic for Indian dusty roads
    4. Finally, I'm now using Non Sticky new offering from Pidilite, Motomax Chain Lube, which is not foamy in nature. Has got decent lubing and anti dust attraction properties. Also doesn't easily wear in rain rides as gear oils. Definitely found them VFM
    5. Shiny and Sleek chain link denotes Riders link with Bike😀 Happy Riding🤍🙌

    First service of my highness has been done day before yesterday and I'm experiencing slight vibration in the foot pegs and also told the same to the mechanic guy but he told like it's normal and it'll be soon okay , before giving the bike for servicing it had no vibration at all but after the service I'm feeling Slight vibrations

      This is mainly due to chain tightening (improper tightening) done during the service. Also the Honda chain lube used is not a good product for chain. This vibrations will ease of after riding few hundred KMS (depending on how tight the chain is) but do apply some good chain lube like Motul C2 to get rid of the vibration to a certain extent.

      Front sprocket can easily last 25k kms and above. Rear can go upto around 18-20k. But it's advisable to replace the entire set for a successful relationship of the three 😁

    Hey Raj. This was very informative. I have a problem that alot of other CB350 riders have.
    In 3,4&5th gear , when the bike is slowing down specifically between 60 to 40 speed. There is a vibration in the left foot pegs and handle..
    Also while in this 60 to 40 slow down if the clutch is pressed and depressed there is a very strong vibration felt before the clutch is completely engaged. There also seems to be a whistling noise after the first service only when the bike is in gear.
    Hope you can help with this.

      There are 2 reasons, one the drive chain could be tight as mentioned in video.. especially during servicing this thing happens as the chain free play is adjusted (read over tightened). Second, this bike has a slipper and assist clutch mechanism. So every time you down shift especially you will get this small hum/whistling feel on the handle and footpeg. This happens due to the slipper mechanism creates a temporary locking metal to metal friction inside the clutch system.

      But my worry was why it's only happening between 60 and 40 speed. If the bike is even at 65 or 35 speed .. this same grinding and vibration is not there at all and the bike is super smooth.

      Oh..that's a granular observation you have.. 😅
      Maybe it's something to do with the relative speeds to generate the resonanting vibrations in the clutch mechanism is produced only between the 2 speeds you mentioned..

      I have also faced the same problem. But in my only 2000kms of riding experience, I overcome the clutch grinding problem using rev matching while downshifting.
      P.S: I am a newbie as this is my first bike. May be Raj knows the best.😁

    Hello Raj sir good morning I just saw ur video it's very informative but I would like to clear one thing .. while setting chain i feel to take off from centre stand and ask some one to sit on it and set the chain slack so the chain will be set including bike weight Nd rider weight.. ( it's my personal experience) just shared with you let me know if am wrong..

      Regarding your method of chain tightening, this is usually applicable to long travel suspensions like in a dirt bike where the chain free play reduces or can vary from On stand to Off stand and when there is load on the suspension. The variations in suspension arc is very limited for a regular bike like the CB which has a limited suspension travel and the freeplay recommend by the manufacturer is taking these variations into consideration after the bike is taken off the main stand and rider load. But as long as this method is resulting in appropriate freeplay for you, there is no harm in continuing with it. Results matter 😅.

    @raj sir ,
    What is the expected life of the chain if it is kept well lubed and driving style is not aggressive? Top speed of 100-110 , engine braking mostly.
    2 years completed , 19K odd. Chain or sprocket does not show uneven wear or damage as such.

      Hey Ashok, average life for big capacity bikes is around 15-17k and depending on the usage and road conditions can go upto 22-23k.
      However there is cases of chain sprocket wear out in 11-12k kms aswell inspite of good maintenance. But only a few cases.

    My friend kerosene is the biggest enemy of chain. Petrol also is not viable option as both virtually dries the chain and becomes like sandpaper. Diesel is the best as it does have some lubrication properties and in field conditions it is easy to get. While cleaning just spray diesel on chain and simultaneously clean it with chain cleaning brush and wipe off with cloth immediately and use chain lube or oil lightly. Been doing it for 37yrs now across all terrains and climatic conditions accross sub continent. Chain only creates problems under rapid acceleration , overloading and not being properly adjusted as and when required.

      With all due respect, have you tried Kerosene ever and Diesel bloats the O rings if not wiped off almost immediately. If i manage to source Kerosene which like i mentioned in my video is very hard to procure would have done a comparison by practical analysis of affect of petrol vs Kerosene vs diesel in front of camera especially for you. Unfortunately when kerosene was available easily these comparo things have been done and dusted as that they way i have worked in my life but sadly video cameras were not trend of the past.
      And JFYI Motul C1's main ingredient is N Paraffin which means base kerosene 😅.
      Watch this space though.. u never know I might come up with a video on this topic.

    Bro my highness is about 2000km. There is a knocking sound from engine.
    Is it any issue or is normal.
    Note: i havent ride it beyond 75 km/hr. And also havnt reved to higher rpm

      No..it only happens when the chain slack is inappropriate.
      It generally doesn't get that feeling.

    Hello Raj, thank you so much for a very informative and to-the-point video on this topic. I tried my hands for the first time lubing the chain of my recently acquired Honda Hness and hit a weird issue. Until this point, the motorcycle was running as expected with no undesired lights on the console. However, after lubing the chain, the check-engine-light is staying on. There are no perceivable differences in the way the motorcycle rides (when tried for 5-6km). Have you ever faced such issue? Can you think of any pointers I can look for before I take the motorcycle to authorised service center? Thanks

    What to do if few o rings gets damaged or cut in a new chain due to some reasons ? Does the whole chain needs to be changed ? Just a curiosity because recently i changed the changed sprocket to rolon brass set.

      Yes buddy, if there are too many O ring damaged or missing it can be risky as the links may snap and break the chain. These O rings also prevents side movements within the links under load.

      Yes buddy. Its absolutely good for chain cleaning and lube. I use the C2 lube especially. For Cleaning i use and experiment with other local products like last time I used Nikavi chain cleaner which cost me 230 for 400Ml can.

    Today i have done my 2nd service at 5600 km, i suggested them to open front sproket and clean them, after all done a extra noise is coming from front sprocket which is really annoying, i have never faced such annoying sound, how to solve this?

    Thanks a lot Raj Sir👍. I am using diesel for cleaning & Motul C2 for lubing since the beginning at every 500-700kms. Recently at around 12000 kms, I had to change the entire chain- sprocket set up because chain had a jerky & noisy operation although the indicator was still in green zone. Is it because of diesel used for cleaning ? What's your opinion ?
    I also belive honda OEM chain cleaner/lube is good for cleaning purpose only.

      Diesel is not so bad..just that while cleaning at times if we don't wipe off the diesel immediately, it can bloat the O ring and make them cut and resulting in such jerky vibrations.. so it's advisable not to use Diesel for cleaning.. BTW.. 12k kms is not a bad thing..chain replacement will also depend on what environment you ride most often..if you are riding on dusty city roads it will reduce the chain life..

    Hi Raj. There is rusting on my chain. My CB350 was parked in open for a couple of weeks during these rains. The bike was covered with a good quality cover all the time. The bike was serviced a month back and hardly driven after. Can you please advice if I should use WD40 on the chain to remove rust? I am a first time bike owner. Today I cleaned the chain with Motul C1 and later C2 to lube. There is still considerable amount of rust and C1 hardly seemed to remove any of it.

      I use kerosene to clean and gear oil for lube .... Not faced any issue

      Yes, you can use WD40 to remove the rust..spray it an leave for some time and later scrub with a chain cleaner brush. Repeat the process as required. C1 is only good on sludge and grit.

    Is it ok to remove one link from the chain and reattach it if the sprocket condition is good? Honda SC tells me to replace the entire chain sprocket unit as well.

      You can surely do that Buddy, but i assume the H'ness comes with fix riveted joints and you will not find a matching lock link for the same.

      Also, one more thing to remember, at time it has happened that after removing a link the chain may start jumping. I used to do that with RX 100 and used to work all right most times.. but sometimes this jumping problem used to come.

      Use diesel but make sure to wipe it off immediately as it can bulge the O rings. While doing all this, please observe good care and safety working with the chain and sprocket gears.

    Chain cleaners are not that efficient for used chains . Best is to use petrol /kerosene (if you can get it) tooth brush an hour of your patience and fun to make your hands dirty. 100 -200 ml of petrol is enough to clean chain from inside out , watch how much glunt and dust is there in link rollers . Spending 25 rs petrol of kersone or even diesel is worthy , you can clean entire chain both sprockets and near by areas in this amount of fuel . Plus these cleaning lasts very long computer to spray cleaners . Use Good quality spray lubes after complete evaporation of either fuels petrol is best which evaporates completely within hour or 2 . Chain spray won't be effective if little bit fuel mixes with it . All petroleum fuels are negetive lubricants . Just take extra precaution from flames and heat while dealing with open fuel . Purchase small plastic oil dispenser from hardware store /sewing machine shops costing 20 -30 rs to supply petrol kerosene on chains keeping tooth brush below. Do not worry about Orings or xrings etc they are tuff to get damaged by even dangerous solvents, iam doing this for years with my bikes and my chains last very very long .

    Hi Raj, I purchased CB 350 H'ness a month ago, and your channel has positively influenced my purchase decision. I like the bike so far, but one issue I am facing is the upshift from 1st to second (usually I do this at 22 KMPH) and 2nd to 3rd (around 40 KMPH) is noisy. I mean, I can clearly hear the noise during upshift. Not sure what is the reason for the same. But the down shift are really smooth with out much noise (I usually blip the throttle during down shift). Due to the tall gearing, I had to frequently shift between 2nd and 3rd in city traffic, which is fine for me, but the noise during the upshifting is really annoying. Completed the fist service, but did not notice much improvement after that too. So far the bike has done about 600 Kilometers

      Hey Sreejith, first of all, congratulations on your ownership.
      Regarding the hard shifting, as the engine will churn more kms this will automatically get better. Let the parts bead-in with each other as they work.

      2T oil bhai..jo 2 stroke engine mein use hota hai..
