I am a assistant coach for skaters that are just starting to skate. One of the older students felt very discouraged and un-motivated, I showed her a few of your videos and explained that you spread positivity and light through the entire skating community. I told her that your videos show that you can start skating at any age. She was very inspired and watches your videos every day! ❤

this is so fascinating to me as a casual rollerskater. i skate in lace-up quads (and the best pair of skates i own (they were about $300) are less padded in the ankles & tongue, but more cushioned in the sole. they allow much more freedom for movement and are great for shuffle skating/dancing! seeing that professional ice-skates are not only more padded, but also much stiffer explains why i struggling with ice skating much more than i anticipated. 😅 i'm adjusted to inline skating as well, i'm simply not used to my ankles being stiff as a board when i'm trying to do a spin 💀💀🤍

that’s very true!! as a figure skater i am definitely say that a beginner jackson boot compared to edeas chores boots are an completely differently designed boot. Jackson’s are more of a really solid good beginner boot with a basic blade. it has a pretty stiffer boot compared to edeas. now Edeas are what you see all of the olympians wear. ( just to clarify that edeas do have lots of beginner boots, but jackson’s are the most recommended for just starting skating.) and edeas have a way much more comfort than a jackson boot. because they were designed to be tied loosely and be breathable and bendable. jackson boots are less comfortable but have more support on the soul of the boot for beginners up to advanced.
    hope this helps!!!❤❤❤

You need to take in account: your technical level, your goals, height weight, Wideness of your foot and etc. Getting the wrong skates not meant for your body is horrible. When I first started figure skating, I was really close to my coach so she let me borrow her shoes since we were the same size but 10-12 years apart. I was a beginner in professional shoes and I kept telling myself that the shoes did not hurt. I lied XD. The shoes DID in fact have SOO much more support than the rentals I was using. I also didn't have to use as much effort in speed when using the dull blade of the rental. My turns were easier, but also made it easier to fall. Still, obviously the more advanced skates would hurt more, but work better on ice.

The levels of stiffness that exist for ice skaters is insane. I see a lot of rollerskaters use the equivalent of an ice skating boot (similar to the Riedell 2010) for moves that do not require a brick for a boot.
Having just started ice skating, in a very soft boot (Riedell 220) I'm growing to see the need for the crazy stiffness tiers, I can spin with such ease, and holding edges is significantly harder. I'm excited to ice skate, and improve my skills, it's a different beast to rollerskating!

I can't ice skate that well if I don't have ankle support, which is why I prefer roller blading.

I feel like beginners need more support and the beginner skates should be stiffer since they need more support

Well it depends on the blade, my Chorus boots were $320 (same shown on the video) and my blades were way less expensive, can’t remember the Ultima model I have so for those wanting advanced boots, you can spend lees than this.

guys so my parents have a skate shop in italy and they sell the "advanced" boot for 256€ and you can find the blade for about 220€ online, now I don't know where she bought it,but girl that's a lot for that skate😰

I went for a fitting yesterday because I could not nail my size so nothing fit properly. The technician recommended a pair that were $350. I was going to go for something under 200 but he pointed out the cheaper ones were for very recreational use which I would outgrow since I will be doing the learn to skate program next year. Am not looking forward to shelling out all that money on boots but I hope I advance enough to get there.

Also, the cost of paying for separate blades. That will turn the cost of the skates to above $1,000.

Idk I prefer a thin boot. I tried a thicker Jackson boot but I didn’t like it. It’s the quality of the blade that matters to me. The blade I have now isn’t as good of a quality, but I love the boot (even though most would say it’s a cheap beginners boot). I wanna see if I can get my old blade put on the new boot, but I think the old blade might be a half size too small. I’d still skate with my old skates but they’re falling apart (literally) despite the blades being in really good condition!!!

150 USD for begginer skates!! The shop at my nearest rink sells them for 300 USD!
The only thing at great price is the rental, $5 usd per hour. 👍

I remeber come in elementary school we went to this sports complex as a field trip and got to go ice skating. I had to use hockey skates because my ankles couldn’t support themselves like that as I’ve never skated in my life. Long as I had heavy duty support, I was pretty ok. Didn’t fall. 👌
