In this Hearthstone Mercenaries Heroic bounty guide, I take a look at Kresh, Lord of Turtling in Sunken City. You need to complete the Kresh bounty with Brann and Baine in your party to unlock their equipment, and I have a comp that can carry them both through this at the same time!

Im so confused. I just played this bounty and starting on turn 1, the only move Kresh did was "Do 30 damage to each character. Repeat for each one of his allies." So on turn 1, he destroyed cariel, varian, and anduin and both of his allies. So my next three mercs came on. I was doing the normal bounty, not heroic, so I brought Tirion and Xyrella since they both deal holy damage as well. So now I am down to these final 3. And every turn going forward, Kresh did the same thing every turn - "Do 30 damage to each character. Repeat for each one of his allies." But since he killed them both himself on turn 1, He only did 30 damage each turn. Thankfully I gave Velen the ability to heal all my characters back to full health, which allowed me to beat him with just those 3. I am wondering why that was his only move from turn 1 when in your video above, he has a host of different moves.
Ironically the budget comp seemed to do much better and faster.
After struggling with this one, I went with the nature comp, including the new Nemsy: easy win at first try.
Agreed. After struggling with the Holy comp I easily 1 shot it with Nature.
Feels like one where it's pretty important to do general "how to win heroic" strats - like, actually grabbing fights along the way to get buffs and not just taking the fast path. Because like, I would have gotten 3-wiped turn 1 by trample if I hadn't gotten that +10/+20 heroic equip on the way. Although, it seems like even if you get triple wiped Velen should still be able to solo assuming you can finish off the greens.
Ran into a lot of blue mercs on the way up, they were tearing me apart. I managed to finish, but it was really nail bitting. At the end it was ez pz, but the climb without a green merc is super heavy.
Well, one could add a green human or Xyrella to this mix by removing one of the loot-takers and doing two rounds instead of one.
Got this done even with Varian dead before the boss, Brann not at max level and the boss doing turn 1 deal repeatable 30 dmg obliterating my first three (Brann, Cariel and Anduin). I had a treasure for Velen that allowed me to ress Cariel at 35hp and did everything I could to keep the remaining mercs alive and dishing out damage consistently. I finished the match with 40 health on Baine and 50 on Velen. Really tough one and I don't think what I did was easily repeatable considering the rng, but still have to thank you for this guide!
Did it with Rag+Geddon+Balinda with Cookie, Baine, Bran on bench. I think it would've been way easier if I got the treasure with auto fireball cast on fire ability, but after Kresh does his insane board wipe you should have one of the adds down or close to it, and it's not TOO bad then. If my Baine wasn't already nearly maxed, I probably wouldn't have passed it. Cookie's ability to summon healing is a huge help too.
Thx! I have a Sidenote: seen that i dont have Varyan yet, the Arkane combo fixed this! Just finished a run for baine equipment, took out the greens by oneshotting them with medivh blinkfox and khadgar enjoy!
Hello Old Guardian, you could make a series of videos about the best compositions to quickly farm bounties in normal. At least from the new Darkshore and Sunken City contracts. I would be very grateful if you did.
For example, for Kresh I feel that Holy+Varian is too slow, but at the same time it is a difficult bounty to overcome depending on which comps.
I did this with fire comp on my first try. I think I even had the cursed loot for that run that made certain abilities hurt me. Could be another where I did well because I had good treasures but not sure and would need to experiment more
Just used sneed instead of Anduin and starting with activate saw active + retaliation does a great job of quickly killing the adds.
I tried twice with your comp and died both times. Then tried Nature (with Vanndar Stormpike (taunt equipment), Malf, Bru'kan for final fight) and it was a very easy one-shot). Still big thanks for all the videos! :)

i'm up to garrosh so far with the fire comp cruising thru all of them. i take cookie antonidas and a passenger for equipment
On my first try i had severe problems with the trash, trying to dodge all greens on my route to completely avoid doppelgangsters lead me to too many blue elites and i lost varian and cariel on my way.
on my second try i was more lucky, and with the help of the cleaving scythe varian annihilated anything in no time :D
Seriously the number of times I've wiped on those Dopplegangsters is ridiculous. There is no reason the trash should be harder than some bosses.
A significantly frustrating bounty that relies almost entirely on luck of treasures and which abilities the boss minions use each turn.
Had Kresh trampling, then was down to bran and baine - was slowly chipping him down. The only thing that saved me was that I had upgraded baine a little

Hey Old Guardian! Thanks for all your mercenaries content. Have you seen the “secret” cow Bounty added to the barrens? You get tyriel portrait for completing it on HC. Quite Easy With holy comp - Anduin, cornelius and velen. Hope you post a video of it so others get the free portrait as well :)
Dude love your videos and guides, but the easiest way to beat this bounty is with fire comp, Chi-Ji/Geddon/Rag. The entire run only took me 11 turns. Your fight on just the boss took around that many turns.

The climb (for me) has been a serious grind. I haven't had a may yet (on my 4th attempt) that hasn't gone through at least 3 heroic nodes.
Do you re-roll your bounties??
I'm not sure what you have to do to make this work, but Kresh just did "turtle trample" 2 times in 2nd round and then a steward attacked anduin and wiped my whole team..
Also, your varian had 27hp after first round, mine had 2hp.
Not sure if it's gonna even be possible to complete.

Edit: ok, i might have written this a bit prematurely.
I brought Valen out, he had "heal 4 hp end of round" and he literally solo'd Kresh and steward.
Have u beaten both Stewards before Kresh?

Yes, one died fast because of Varian. But then Cariel and Varian died and Valen was left alone against a steward and Kresh.
Is Bain heal bugged at LV 5 it stopped working 😭Lol good luck getting to him with this I'm on 5th try... Gona try the nature suggestions here
Your stuards attack at 1st turn, but mine keep healing the others, so Varian can't attack them, and then the whole team dies getting 90 damage from Kresh. I don't know what is wrong with them. Gonna try nature...
Despite this nice explanation I couldn't pass because of too many casters. Adding Tirion helped me. Many thanks.
I can't even do the climb with this comp on normal with fully maxed mercs...
Took me four tries. First three lost too much from Dopplegangsters, or Arcane (Long'xin + Millhouse). Fourth try I lost Cariel and Velen early, but had two rez nodes later on my path, and managed to reach the boss with a full team. Dopplegangsters are impossible with this team. Divert through any node to avoid them, if you can (or just pick a path that avoids green, before starting the climb).
@@billwade4079 Not true. I used this exact team that Old Guardian had us use with Cariel, Anduin, and Velen and hit a dopplegangster fight and beat them easily.
Did this with fire and it was a lot saner though having really good treasures helped. The RNG to win this thing is *insane* .
I almost gave up the fight after he 1-shot my team. I was able to beat with Brann, Velen, and Baine but it took forever. I did have caster 0 cooldown so that helped Velen boost holy damage while Baine kept everyone alive.
Varian didn't work for me, as the Stewards never attacked and just kept casting mend on Kresh the whole time (increasing his health) whilst he cast Taunt & Trample. Switched to fire and completed.
I could not even get past Naga Puppeteer in the very first fight, as this comp offers has no green cards at all. Any hints how to beat the Puppeteer with this combo would be much appreciated.
...Being able to do the AoE turn 1 is BS - Are there ANY comps that can take 90 turn 1?
Yeah, they can't be frozen... but it doesn't say anything about being rooted and having their attack set to zero = Khadgar, Aranna, and Malfurion FTW.
When Kresh tries to damage everyone, return Aranna to the bench, then bring Baine for the heals if needed.
I managed to do it with the comp in this video, but only just. Same as others reported, if you can‘t kill one of the green adds before the boss’s trample comes at the end of turn 2, you‘re basically done for. And you can‘t kill one of the green adds with this comp if they don‘t attack, or if the boss soaks up their damage... In the end the boss trampled its adds, and at the very end itself, to death, with my Baine hanging on for dear life with only 12 health remaining. Although I won it felt like pure RNG…
Nature seems to handle this better, the new team with nemsy
I just tried and 3/4 turns he used turtle trample, beating down everything for 90 damage every fucking time.
Is this boss bugged out? On the first turn he started "Turtle Trampling" and destroyed all my minions because I couldn't do anything to take out one of the green minions. So frustrating, even though I somehow managed to win with just Brann and Velen.
Tough climb and tough boss battle. Took me several tries and only won because I managed to avoid getting trampled. I recommend praying to RNGesus before fighting the boss.
took about 5 attempts in total for this bounty, first time getting to the boss it. just nuked my team

You can beat Kresh like that but it is not the easiest way to do it. I used a nature comb after this comb died like trash 3 times. Malfurion Vanndar (with taunt) and Baine for killing and surviving the greens. You heal better and you can root the enemy. Buffed Guff for final strike. Cookie for more health and fishs. If Kresh do his aoe, the fishs die and heal+buff you.
Is Baine heal bugged I got it to 5 now it heals 0 :(
My Baine can heal, but there are many bugs…
@@TheGodssake He heals great until you get his healing to lvl 5 then all you get is some animations and zero HP.
Green Dopplegansters in the climb - how to get past them?
You avoid them. This comp gets wrecked by it.
@@jefferybowling5245 I beat the Dopplegangsters easily my first try with the team that Old Guardian had us use. No problem.
This bounty just sucks. 1st try the green adds wasn't attacking only giving buff in round 1, next round 90 damage from Kresh to all my mercs. 2nd try first round 90 damage from Kresh to all my mercs. I even didn't got the chance to do something wrong because the mercs was just instantly killed -.-
Sooo how come for me he started off by dealing 90 damage to each party member?
Yeaaah, had my guys dead before I could take down an add on first time too, but on the second it worked, Turn 2 AoE and only 1 add alive.
Anton/Baron/Rag, Lady/Krush/Mukla, Holy comp... all of these die too much on trash... I'm no idiot but I don't see how I'm meant to make it to the boss even... One time I got there but I was already missing someone from the comp and ended up dead.
Just did this comp, lost Anduin and Velen to stupidity climbing.
Cleared with Cariel, Varian and a very underpowered Baine.
Also funny thing, Baine's equipment says +7 Health, but the coding is giving him Attack.
Why is Cariel preferred to, say, Cornelius?
Cariel has higher attack and heals herself. When the taunt merc takes most of the damage and damage comes from attacks, usually high individual hits so Cornelius' -3 dmg taken is not effective, Cariel is great.
Cornelius is better when you need to heal the other characters or damage comes in as small, repeated hits.

This doesn'T work anymore... Kresh does 90 damage on the first round.
I tried this ~20 times and couldn't do it. But your budget version with Trigore worked first try: th-cam.com/video/ZSvdz07_ekk/w-d-xo.html
