First of all, great customer service from HC&C! I’ve tried Cosmic Gentleman and Cowboy Up, and it’s easy to lather. I’m interested to try Southern Comfort because it has two of my favorite scents, bourbon and tobacco. Also, Pete from HC&C actually responds to you if you reach out to them, very classy!
Pete is amazing! And I agree, artisans that respond and actually communicate is a must for me anymore. I have actually noticed that I have bought less and less from a particular company that doesn't respond. Relationships are a big part of my "Small Business " experience

HC&C had many great scents in 2023, my favorites that I tried are 12 Shaves, Christmas in NYC and Cosmic Gentleman. I need to try Alone. There were so many new scents and re-released that it was hard to pick which ones to get. Great list of your top scents of 2023. I'd love to try Cosmic Gentleman! HC&C should be considered for hardest working artisan in 2023. Pete put out a TON of different fragrances and collaborated across the board with various wet shaving groups. I've seen collaborations with Rich Man Shaving, Pasteur's, The Wet Shaving Store, a Shave Dad release, The Shave Tech show, etc.! And this was on top of Pete's own website fragrances. I'm not sure if he slept at all in 2023! I did not buy any HC&C in 2023 but that is going to change in 2024. Great list of scents in your video! I could smell most of those tubs through my phone screen 😂
Very good Tobin! Geez, HC&C had a string of great scents, but Alone and PI Mei both sounded like my kind of scents. Maybe I was just paying more attention this year, but there were a ton of great scents that came out and I caught a ton of reviews, which probably just the tip of the iceberg. You had a lot of scents to review and it must have been hard to just get it down to even 12. Out of those Alone, Doppelgänger Plum, and Friends to the End are all scents that I noted to try out and should probably pick up when funds allow.
I swear fragrances and shave soap go hand-in-hand nowadays, lol. Sometimes I'm like, "NOT ANOTHER BR540 CLONE!!!" or "ANOTHER AVENTUS! UGH!!!!" but when you smell this stuff in shave soap and use it that way, the experience is different than in fragrance form. Hard to explain, but it seems to be a bit more enjoyable for the few "popular fragrance"-like scents that I've tried. I have to try some of the other Hendrix ones, though. I own a few PDM frags (Carlisle, Layton Exclusif) and I used to own others (Percival, Sedley), but I'm always up for trying new shave soaps that are similar. The only Tom Ford that I own, honestly, is Costa Azzura and that's because it's in the Signature line and not as crazy expensive. And I have a 30 mL of Lost Cherry and a 10 mL of Black Orchid Parfum, but I've tried most other Tom Fords through clones or inspirations. Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather are very good, though, so I might have to try Mosper and Denaid Foil 50, too. Good stuff, as always!
