    Good to see you back. Seems like you have some warmer weather than we have in Norway 😂

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, yes, definitely warmer than you. I have no reason to complain. Actually, I enjoy the weather bouncing around a bit. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Cheers, Steve

    Sorry for your loss, good to see you back on deck. Ok on the stuff up. Somebody once said boat building is easy, you just do everything twice.😊

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only twice hey? That's a relief. LOL I think I should include my stuff ups in some out takes at the end of my videos to show just how many bungles I really make. Some days everything goes to plan, and then there are those days.... well, let's not dwell on those hahaha Thanks for watching and making a comment. It does keep me on the ball.

      Haha thanks. I have a friend who is a steam boat enthusiast and I will show him your comment. He is always hinting that a giant steam engine would go very well in my boat build. Anyway, thanks for watching, take care. Cheers Steve

    Great to see you back in the shed, Steve! Love that you made a mistake, and love your attitude towards it. And of course it will be fine!

      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, of course it will all be fine, won't it? Yes indeed I'm sure it will. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Wow! what a great comment. Thanks.. It's funny because my surname is pronounced 'sheer' and a good friend of mine has always called me 'Sheer bliss' which has now been shortened to 'Blissy' Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment. It keeps me motivated. Cheers, Steve, 'Blissy' LOL

    Glad to see you're back, Steve, and in your usual good spirits. I'm sure you gave Millie a proper send off-- she was definitely one-in-a-million! I can reasonably assure you I've never put anything together backwards or upside-down more than 90% of the time! As the saying goes: "the mark of a good woodworker is not in how well he did his job, but by how well he hid his mistakes".

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ha ha, thanks for that. I'm glad I am not the only one who gets things wrong sometimes. Ahhh, the joys of DIY hey. LOL Take care, thanks again for watching.

    I noticed the mistake and I tried to mentally tell you but of course to late😂, enthusiasm to catch up will always bite you. Mate so glad your back

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha thanks Bruce. I wanted to blame my wife, as she came into the shed around 3 o'clock to remind me that we were heading out to dinner that evening. I did tell her that this interruption definitely caused the stuff up. I was joking of course, but it didn't go down particularly well, as apparently I frequently blame her for anything that I goes wrong. Tact. Not one of my better traits, LOL Thanks for trying to telepathically warn of my error. I am super impressed that you actually noticed things were upside down. Well done !!!

    Moving along almost nicely (did smile at the stuff-up mate). Glad to see the “Boss” got a small cameo. Pool looks good in the background too. Cheers. Capt A

    Great to see you back in the shed. The small mistake is just human, I’ve done similar mistakes myself many times for example when mounting Ikea furniture with half of it upside down or the shelf mounts on the outside…😅 In Sweden we call it a “tankevurpa”, I don’t know if it has an english translation but straight off it might be “thinking crash”. (Tanke=Thought vurpa=crash)

      Haha😂 a thinking crash. Yes, I do have quite a lot of those. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve

    Glad to see you again, Steve!
    I could still see your heart breaking, and again, I’m so sorry.
    You’re right, we must go on.
    That CAD image was very helpful for me as a viewer to understand a little more of how things will look.
    That offset is perfect to allow the double bed.
    Wise man, knowing when to stop so as not to make a mistake.
    That’s a great SnLaw you have.
    A mix between John Lennon and Paul McCartney, I could listen to that music all day long.
    Hang in there you’re doing great!
    Be looking out for your next video- and the music.
    Thank you so much for posting.
    Joe

      Hi Joe, thanks for your lovely comments, especially about the music. I am trying to find the time to put an album together and hope to get that done sooner rather than later. If I get there, I will let every one know. I'm thinking of releasing it on both CD and vinyl. What are your music tastes???

      You’re welcome
      Living in Texas I grew up on country music- George straight, David all coke, Merle haggard. But, I also enjoy listening to fleetwood mack, eagles, Led Zeppelin, lover boy. Many others, I’m pretty well rounded when it comes to to music and construction.
      I’ll be looking out for you.
      Take cat.

      Hello Anne, my most reliable constant watcher. I hope your fingers are back guitar picking again. The last boat took me 12 months and I built it outside under a cheap temporary car port. Well, three of them all tied together actually. It was a challenge braving the elements, especially through winter, but I got it done:) Thanks for watching and I really enjoy reading your comments. Thanks Anne.

      Oh, also, the pool is FANTASTIC!!!! When I say I have had a great break, I really mean I have worked like crazy for the past while digging, moving dirt, paving, planting trees, gardening and installing a pool fence. LOL Anyway, I feel very fortunate to have a beautiful pool to jump into at the end of a day in the boat shed. What a privilege. Thanks again for taking an interest.

    Great to see you back Steve. Can you tell me what type of wood you used for the curved corner of the settee? Looks really well done.

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ian, I used Eucalyptus grandis. It is native to the east coast of Australia. Its common name is rose gum or flooded gum. It is used as decking timber and I used it all around our home. All the laminated curved beams and most of the other framing is made from this timber. I bought a large pack of the decking and ripped it all down to size as this proved the most economical way to buy good hard wood. The method I used to make the curves should work fine with any timber really. I think oak and cedar would work just fine. Thanks for watching, Steve :)

    Steve are you sure the vessel will not be top heavy and aslo effected by strong winds when you finally have it swimming on The Murray look forward to that day

    • @steveshierdoesstuff7420
      @steveshierdoesstuff7420  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, well yes it might be. However, the last one I built with the same flat bottom and a lot of superstructure had no issues. We will see :) I can add ballast if required and have made provision for that along the centre of the floor. As for windage, I have two swing keels, or centre plates if you like, that will drop down about a metre below the wheelhouse to assist with 'skating' when windy. The boat also has a retractable bow thruster up front to help with manoeuvring in tight spaces like marinas etc when windy. There have to be some compromises when designing a super shallow draft boat and you are absolutely correct re these issues. But I think my solution of the two swing keels and the retractable bow thruster should go some way to alleviating those issues. I think there will be enough weight down low and centre to keep her upright and stable, but as I mentioned, there is the ability to add ballast if required. Cheers, Steve
