This up close and amazing encounter with the one of the biggest underwater creatures, the whale shark we called ''Butanding", is another memorable and exciting vlog of yours Mergim. Continue to discover more exciting adventures and enjoy your wonderful journey in the country!
That boat has like 5 nationality in there from Japanese, Thai, South Koreans, British and Filipino. It's good to see how they bonded together. As for the Whale Shark, it's always as majestic as it can get BUT man that BGM that you choose makes me think of the Whale Shark like a character in a 3D animated film like Finding Nemo lol.
Happy to see you mergim talking with co foreighners they're so friendly too like you hope you all enjoy oslob place. take care and God bless you all. ✌👍💖🙏🙏🙏
Such a majestic creature. I’m legit jealous that you got to do this, and got to get so close to it. The filming was great too, especially from the front when it fed itself. Fascinating how such humongous creatures just feed on tiny shrimp, krill and plankton. Great work again, Megrim.
Oh Wow, another bucket list of mine is to see these whale sharks. I am glad they are preserving the whale sharks in the Philippines. They used to hunt these creatures as food. I am glad tourism is giving livelihood for the local Oslob residents. Thanks Mergim for this lovely vlog and you have met fantastic people too. Experience the beauty of the people and the Philippines xx
Filipinos have never ever hunted whale sharks for food. It's the Japanese, Chinese, North Americans and Europeans who poached these creatures for their oil and, in the case of Chinese poachers, for their fins for the valued shark fins soup. Whale sharks in Oslob have been visiting the area since I was a kid back in the early 70s and it was already a normal day to day sight for many locals in Oslob. Some of the local fishermen, though, hated the sharks, not because they feared from getting attacked but because they always got entangled in their fishing nets and fishing lines. Some fishermen hated them so much so they hit them with poles or oars or any hard objects they can get. The advent of social media specifically Facebook changed the way tourists documented their travels. So in 2011, a local tourist from Cebu City posted on his FB page on his encounter with the sharks with photos of him riding on the back of the shark, holding the dorsal fin and similar interaction which made his posts viral. The viral photos circulated on the social media like wildfire that Oslob officials was surprised to see a deluge of both local and foreign tourists to their sleepy town. The number of tourists grew exponentially everyday that worried local officials and concerned agencies about the 'abusive acts' by tourists on the sharks as more and more social media posts showing their (tourists) blatant disregard to the welfare of the sharks. One year later, the local officials of Oslob sought the help of DENR and WWF to set guidelines as to how they could regulate the interaction with sharks in a sustainable way. Thus in 2012, the current rules and regulations were officially issued and signed into local ordinances between the regulating bodies.
Wow !!! Awesome Mergim and thank you so much for today's video. watching here ..showing me a closer look to this huge Whale Shark absolutely unbelievable 😊😊😊.Thank you for the effort and for the job done. Takecare.

He's barely covered 1% of Cebu. Cebu is too big to cover in just one year. Even us locals aren't able to cover the entire province of Cebu after all these years.
Wow its amazing vedeos Mergin only now i know that you are a great diver too exploring some nice beaches here in Philippines keep going man dnd stay safe.
A well-planned trip and worth the time to get there though it was only thirty minutes with the whalesharks. It's amazing how there was orderly chaos at the visitor center. I guess you could say it was part of the experience. 🤗 Lots of people from all over happy to be there. 👍
Wow, that must have been a really awesome experience. Getting up close and personal to these magnificent creatures is a sight to behold. And, as usual, you made you friends. Thanks for sharing this great experience with us, Mergim! Have a safe ride back to Moalboal! 👍
Its so nice encounter the whalesharks thats my unforgetable expirience before with my family,yr 2019 .. When i'm back to the PHILIPPINES .. I will go again to swim with whle sharks..
I experienced both OSLOB and DONSOL in Sorsogon (BICOL REGION). and I must say I prefer the one in Sorsogon aside from whale sharks are free on the wild. What's exciting about is that you get the chance to be on the open waters and dive run with them. Unlike OSLOB obviously they used it for attraction and whale sharks aren't that big and healthy... so if you want more exciting, run and dive with them in deep waters I recommend DONSOL. worth every experience. take note The whale sharks can be big as BUS.
Couldn’t agree more with your comment. Unfortunately the way they do it in oslob feeding them , interferes in their natural way of life, fixing them around the waters of Oslob
I stayed in oslob last aug 16 to 18 this year for my airbnb. unfortunately, I wasn't able to experience whale shark watching because of limited time. But, thanks to your vlog I get to know some info. Will definitely try pretty soon. Continue to discover more best places here in Cebu like mainit spring in malabuyoc, aguinid falls in samboan and also tumalog falls in oslob which I was told it is only 2 km away from the whale shark vicinity.
Wow what an experience ... so nice to see you underneath the water so close to the shark fish.. definitely this one will memorable for your adventure... and you have interacted with people of different nations in your stay there.. Take care bro
Merim, first of all enable super thanks on your channel so we can send you tips. Also the Philippines is huge and extremely diverse, so once your done with Cebu, other than the obligatory Boracay / El Nido, I highly recommend you go check out Baguio city. Manila is not the prime destination of Luzon, it's Baguio imo. I would love to see this type of content for Baguio. Quite possibly the cleanest and most beautiful city in the Philippines. Also a lot more chilly there. It's a whole vibe.
WoW! What an amazing experience you got there bro. I felt like I was with you while filming this extra ordinary whale shark. Thank you bro for sharing all your wonderful experience here in our country. And I'm 1 of your avid subscriber. Never missed to watch your blogs everyday. Keep safe bro. God 🙏 bless.
Love this video. You really took time to video the whale sharks. And its so nice to see tourists from east asia coming back to the philippines. They use to come in big groups before the pandemic.. hope their countries will also ease up travel. Love japan! Been to all the place you’ve been to. And also busan and seoul. Can’t wait to be back.

As long as they are in PH waters, they're safe. If they go to our neighbor that starts with a C, they'll end up in restaurants.
