Cheers for that. I was at St Micks 73-80 in the last days of the Jesuits. Gave me a good education and put me off God for life :) Weird to see many of those images, took me right back to sliding along the corridors and smoking round the back.
Only just realized recently that this was Edwardian more than Gothic, though never was hugely up on the uptake in that department. The corridors aren't unlike the Chancellor's Corridor in The Treasury. Towards the end of the Victorian and into Edwardian Period, the more rounded arch came back into fashion as in Norman pre-middle ages akin to Kirkstall Abbey. Kids today being there wouldn't bother sneaking round the back for a smoke........they'd just drag an e-cig instead...in class!!
That was strangely hard to watch- I didn't really enjoy high school but watching this back brought back so many good memories. It was really sad to see the grounds overgrown and the hall in such a sorry state. Poor St. Mick's :(
Spent a year at St Mick's in 1974, transplanted from Thomas Aquinas. Vaguely remember the hall, staircases and having lessons in those classrooms on the top floor.
Thanks for that, brought back memories from 1969-71,mostly good.Very sad the old school has gone,we were English Schools football Champions in 1970 , Iand we had the best School Blazer and badge ever in Blue barrathia ,the 6th form was black with silver braid, very authoritarian and slightly unnerving for a boy from the sticks aged 11!
