Love it. This was an old Nat King Cole song from the 40's. The idea is that when you don't have much money you make up names for imaginary food cause you can't afford the real thing.
I studied music (cello, piano, drums) for 19 years before I became a soundguy. 37 years and 5000 show later working with a lot of greats, I've discovered Diana. Her performances have taught me more in just a few weeks than any other source. Love her!
my dad was a salesman when I was growing up and when he closed a deal he would sing the chorus. I miss those days and miss him. he passed almost a year ago. Everytime I hear the song it I think of him.
This is on my permanent playlist rotation. Especially late at night, on the back porch, through the "better than the neighbors" sound system that would normally prompt someone to call the police, but the music is SO GOOD that they just smile and tap their toes along with me. If Ms. Krall and Cohort are reading this: Thank you for all you have given us.
Heard you sing in a Robert Dino movie, just caught the end of it and had to see what wonderful lady was singing.. You are wonderful, love this kind of music, thank you utube for letting me listen , free.
If i listen Krall music reminds me my late. She was big fan of Diana Krall. We watch her performance in Singapore and Prambanan Jazz (Central Java, Indonesia). We've been married 32 years but she passed after lost her battle againts breast cancer on July 2021. She is irreplaceable and miss her so much. (SJ, 21.01.24,7.46)
Her style is so great - drives me crazy that I can't play like that - Diana, you are so lucky to have been given such a talent and the boys too. Wow!!!
