Just so you know, Goku’s fight with Chi Chi where he didn’t recognize her at first and forgot he promised to marry her is almost directly taken from OG dragon ball. The main difference is Popo and Kami weren’t there (well, Kami was there but he was in disguise).
And he also as a child didn’t know what marriage meant as he thought it was a food

@@secoTheSonicFan Z is only an anime thing, in the original manga, from Goku meeting Bulma to Goku leaving to train Oob is all Dragon Ball.
Goku’s storyline is based off the Monkey King legend of Sun Wukong, so the more monkey-like transformations are a nod to the original folk tale that Goku is based off of
Goku and vegetas transformation go off the sun wukong sort of vibe, seems he made the super saiyan look more like a monkey form. Which I appreciate.

I LOVE how they used Son Goku, arguably a tribute to Son Wukong, to actually pay tribute to Son Wukong.
Also... i love how they kinda gave each of them their own animal to be based off of. Goku is a monkey, and Vegeta is clearly based off of a wolf or fox.

There is no "arguably". All of Dragon Ball was intented to be an adaptation of Journey to the West. Toriyama wanted it to end after Pilaf, but then it becamse popular, so he was told to draw more.

My understanding was, not only did Japan know of the Sun Wukong story, but the Japanese read the Chinese Characters (lettering) as Son Goku
Like, if you asked a Japanese person the name of the Monkey King martial artist that had a Journey to the West, they would say "Son Goku" and they would NOT be referring to DragonBall

Son Goku is literally the Japanese rendition of Sun Wukong. They are the same person, just different for the country.
This totally needs to enter the DragonBallMultiverse series as another Universe. Divergance seems to be a few places.
1: Goku never goes full Monkey thus Grandpa Gohan never needed to cut his tail off.
2: Seems the Sayians survived Freeza's plan to wipe them out.
3: Vegeta knows who Goku is before arriving and their commadery a needed thing.
4: Vegeta gaining Super Sayian in his young adult life and was first out of the two.
5: Brolly has broken free from his Father's control and was actively searching for Goku...
6: This Goku seems to have access to another form of the Sayians beyond Supers, lets call it "Monkey King" or perhaps "Great Sage" until the creator names it fully.
I think it's implied that the form that Goku gains here is an uncontrolled super saiyan form, as Vegeta alluded that it is an unrefined light. Apart from that, they may not call it super saiyan anymore, I'm probably wrong. But Vegeta said that they're keepers of the light, so I don't know, this is all different with still many easter eggs to DB.

Goku's transformation is a reference to Sun wukong since he's a direct reference to it since he was a kid.
Besides the whole, broly and vegeta crashing the fight. That's actually how goku and chichi's engagement went down. She was mad at goku because he forgot who she was and that he promised to marry her (he did not know what marriage was when he agreed to it when they were kids)...and she told him that she'd tell him her name if he beats her. Needless to say he promptly knocks her out, she told him her name, he freaks out , tells her it's misunderstanding but decides to keep his promise anyway

I am aware Sun Wukong is Chinese
**My understanding** was that the Japanese read the Characters/Lettering and/or "translated" Sun Wukong as "Son Goku". So you can ask a Japanese person "who is the Monkey King? Monkey Martial Artist that made a Journey to the West?" and they will answer "Son Goku" and NOT be referring to/Talking about DragonBall; AND this, is where Goku from DragonBall gets his name

Yes, this is canon shinobi, well, not the broly stuff, or vegeta being king, or goku being sun wukong.
What *WAS* canon was that Chi-Chi was really mad at Goku because when they were children, he promised to marry her.
Only for him to not only forget the promise, but also not being able to recognize her.
Just so you know jack, the villain in this is a movie villain called broly, an outcast saiyan the (originally) had a vendetta against goku for crying really hard when they where babies. Tfs abridged that movie too.

Broly is actually 90s "legendary Super Saiyan" movie Broly, not 2018 Broly. 2018 is cannon, 90s is not. He has the same scars though, if i remember.
Aside from a difference in their powersets, this is more of a retelling of the saiyans meeting than anything else.

Interesting fact is that this is pre-Z, like from the final chapters of the OG DragonBall. So technically, this is a Dragonball animation.
Technically, DBZ is Dragonball anyways, as DBZ wasn't the name of the Manga, it was still called Dragonball.
