Fun fact about the philippines. The culture here has always been respectful of women even before colonization that's why Bella is strong, direct to the point but not overbearing.Why Bruno Mars is respectful of women and believes in consent (he acknowledged that his filipina mom taught him to respect women). The Philippines is also the highest in gender equality in asia despite being a poor country. It is also one of the few countries where sappy romantic songs still wins over shallow sexual songs which says a lot about its culture. 😌
Eh well but sexism is still a thing, maybe not in the workplace as much but when it comes to sexual assault, and how in our society, victim blaming is still a big thing. A lot of poorer areas, have a lot of bad thing happening to women still. Women def aren't limited to the conventional housewife trope, and they are allowed to speak their opinion, but thats the bare minimum, hardly a feminist/equal society.

I'm sorry I just strongly disagree, so many of them beat their wives, or cusses at them due to anger issues, beat their kids or cusses at them out of rage rather than parenting, complains if their foods aren't cook the way they like it, lots indulge in so much alcohol, they don't give a crap about their kids most of the time, they let their wives do everything, while they sit, and drink beer. SO sexist it pisses me off. I've seen it, experienced some personally, and it is why I have such high expectations from my partner, I don't want to end up like that ever. I shouldn't clean and cook just cuz I'm a woman. Also to add on ur "there's no sexual songs" it's because of our religion, what's so funny tho (not really) is they have no problem with showing SO MUCH r*pe in almost every single drama I've watched. The hottest actress will have scenes like that, wth is wrong with the directors... I kid u not, always r*pe or abuse or BOTH actually MOSTLY BOTH included it is why I don't watch filipino dramas anymore *sigh......and that on it owns leaves a huge influence to men or kids(little boys!), I've experienced it so yeah... I love being Filipino don't get me wrong but there's also so many old ways that needs to be fixed. Then with gender equality, there's still no gender equality, not a lot of ppl understands why gay ppl have to get married, it is a huge sin to them.
