I would like to remind commenters that Ben and Emily are graciously sharing their lifestyle with us and it is their life and their choices, it is not our right to make negative comments about them or their choices or tell them how to live their lives. Ben and Emily, I apologize for the rudeness of some followers who make critical and judgmental comments as I know they don’t have the self awareness to do it themselves.
Not sure what your on about ,most comments I see are all good ,great and amazing, mabey your one of these sensitive Liberals. If you put your self on the Internet surley you must expect some nut jobs and in a world HA HA hA of freedom of speech, expect anything, no one is hurt just feelings and Ben and Emily seem more that capable of dealing with stupid comments.,they know most love what they do so if negative there one percent losers.
Who could possibly say anything negative to these lovely people? Beautiful people. They have an amazing lifestyle and dont get any kinder. ❤ ❤❤ Beautiful people. Beautiful channel.
With the world so screwed up, I so look forward to the weekend when I can watch your latest episode. I don’t know if it’s the plump cat curled up by the fire, the lovely English countryside, Benny’s music, the steaming bowl of stew, your British accent and good-natured outlook on life, or the slow-paced dawdling thru the canals, but it’s a much needed dose of soothing escapism. Thank you.
I so agree with you! Just two lovely people sharing their unique life on a boat beautiful England. And the music was especially enjoyable in this episode. Thanks❤
Your filming and confidence in handling the boat has come on such a long way from when I first started watching you. Well done you two . Your humour is fun to watch 🤗
Roisin and Rambler did well to get through the ice....thank heavens for the twopack on the hull! Excited to hear all thw new plans! Look after yourselves....P.S is Alan going to start his own channel!! 😁
Hello There Ben Emily and Alan , Hope you are All well and keeping warm , Great video of your iced up cruise , you did so well , And how scarey when you said your boat tipped , nothing worse , But you Both ventured on and kept on smiling ,well done .Alan looked happy indoors in the warm ,well thanks for sharing , Take care All XX 👍👍
Hello! Thanks so much, yes all is well, i think the section we are on at the moment is quite high so no flooding where we are, we're feeling lucky. Hope everyone is ok where it is bad!
Hi folks I see that you are safe and well. Winter is harsh on the canals . and always has been . I was born and bought up on a narrow boat I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it.. the sense of freedom that you get is a bonus no matter the weather my bring.. Unfortunately I had to leave narrow boat life after sixty seven years . mainly because of health issues. I still have friends that are living on the canals . one of who's boat you passed in this video.. I would like to thank you both for taking the time to put your videos out. As they bring back fond memories of my life living on the canals of this country. I sincerely hope that you have a happy and prosperous new year. .I hope that you stay safe and well .. Unfortunately there are a number of people on the canals that think they can take people's property . without asking for permission to take it. This seems to be the trend these days especially with people who walk along the towpaths. Near towns and cities... Anyway folks I am looking forward to your next video.
Thank you for this lovely episode - I think the winter ones might be my favourite as the landscape becomes extra beautiful and I can feel your relief when you get inside and have a bowl of hearty stew next to Alan! Xx
I was so sorry that some people have commented on your lifestyle so ungraciously. I wasn’t aware of this but please ignore them as best you can and continue just as you are. Both of you are showing us how you live on the canals, with Allan, of course, and I for one thoroughly enjoy every episode. I hope there is a way of blocking these rude and disrespectful people. See you soon.
Morning from Australia, I am enjoying your journey and your joy. hope & pray you are warm and dry in these floods I'm seeing on the news. Blessings Neil
Beautiful weather, if maybe too cold and great musical accompaniment by Benny. Emily, i can knit you a scarf. Wrap as you wish. Other fashion ideas ? Those splendid blue all-in-one suits you bought - windproof ! Alan needs a little woolly body garment.
I love your vlogs. I only just watched dear Emily crawling along a very steep mountain! I also have that horrible fear of heights and thought she was SO brave!
Thanks so much for great filming as always and loved the icicles in the lock - you always capture lovely scenery .Stay safe and warm - Alan definitely had the best place in her cosy nest and the warmth of the log burner!
Country House Gent recently had the same issue of a hidden ledge under the side of the boat on the Oxford Canal. Minimal damage inside. Yours could have been nasty had a pan of stew been on the stove that day. Really good production, thank you.
Our boat is moored at Dunchurch, just a bit further along the canal, and I've used the locks there many times (they're the busiest on the network) and never noticed anything there. It probably ought to be reported to the CRT as those locks are manned on a regular basis.
Love those chilly fall days when the temps get to freezing, clear skies and no wind. Ice is probable 2 feet thick here now. It can get up to 4 feet thick but we've only had a couple days of -30F this winter. Temps mostly hanging around 0F. Thanks for taking us along.
Hey y'all! Watching you all float through life is just fun .. a nice little ear scratch for Allen ...say warm wish I'd known about Narrowboating in my 20s...I'm thinking now at 70 yrs of age that life would have suited me just fine.....
Thank you for your Winter travels and now I am not complaining about the heat here. Would be great to see a mash up clip of your journey over the four seasons, from the nice balmy days to the stormy weather that you have had to endure. Knowing my luck, if I was on a narrow boat I would have accidently fallen by now, given the slippery and cold. Stay warm and looking forwards to hearing of your new adventures for 2024.(y)
Happy New Year and hope all three of you have such a wonderful 2024. Myself, partner and Dolly (our cat 🐈⬛) are always watching your fabulous episodes every week. Once I’ve completed 24 years in the military (4 years to go) we are going to buy a boat and live full time with our cat. You have inspired us so much and really can’t wait.
Fab Episode guys !! Loved the Edits And the New music Ben gives me a Damon Albarn sort of solo feel ! Very smooth and relaxing !! Will defo viist your Bandcamp for a deep dive !! Stay well x
Hello, I absolutely love your channel. I think you are a very lovely couple, and of course Alan. This is one of the very best channels on you tube. Your videos are first rate. Excellent cinematography and editing. Thank you so much fir sharing your life and adventures, I also enjoy the bits of history that you add into the content. I have watched all of your vlogs and during the Cristmas holidays I binged watched them again. It is fun to see how much you and your channel have grown since episode one. I would like to say in episode 59 when you left Leicester and jammed your propeller with the playstation dressing gown, I really liked Benny's idea of keeping the dressing gown and using it as sort of a victory shawl. Please keep making these awesome videos! I love all of your adventures.
Thank you guys for sharing your adventure. I always look forward to watching your vlog. Last night the water in the goats bucket froze over. The horse trough did not freeze but it also gets cold in the desert at night time too. Catch you next Saturday for another adventure. Lots of ❤ from Arizona USA.
Fabulous video as ever. Beautiful scenery enhanced by the great drone work. I really liked the icy sounding music with little tinkle bells off to the side. Thank you so much for making these videos, I look forward to them every week, appreciate it’s a lot of work for you. Happy new year!
❤🎉Happy new year lovely Benny and Emily and cute pie Alan looking forward to a nother beautiful video again off your travels love Benny music sitting watching now ❤😊love jenny N1 fan ❤
That stew looked delicious 😋 Glad you're ok after the scary tilt! Give Alan a big cuddle and happy new year to you all. Looking forward to the updates. Lovely music as always Benny ❤
Loooked very cold, so well done to you both for getting so far, with two boats. Not sure i could be asked to go back and do it all over again, with Rambler though, it must be exhausting and take twice as long. Then you have the camper to move too !! wow.
First time seen this video and enjoyed the journey thoroughly. Wasn’t boring as these videos can be. Loved all the sites and the necessary workings and delicious eating. Nice seeing your cat included too keeping cosy and warm. Looking forward to the next leg of your journey. Could we see where and how you bed down for the night if possible and not imposing too personal? Just never seen how and where one sleeps on these boats and does it stay warm overnight. Thanks for a love video.❤
Well done, your proficiency in steering is great. The stew looks like it needs a bit of Bisto lol. You look cold but I guess you can both take a hot bath at the end of the day.
Keep those fires lit guys. Did you find out what caused the boat to tip? Nice music Benny👍. I love the flute. It’s a hangover from listening to Jethro Tull for many years and enjoying the genius of Ian Anderson.
I had to drive through a flooded road next to the canal in Saxilby in my Nissan Micra. I know how you feel in the boat. The only thing missing was my cat Shelli.
Dear Emily, Ben and Alan Even though in Alberta we can experience -20 it is a dry -20. For you having the dampness and the -5 plus the breeze as you motor along BRRRR. The secret, if you have not discovered it, is to keep the cabin as dry as possible, wood heat is great for that and change your socks often. Synthetic socks are the worst. Guys buy yourselves a couple of balaclavas and long johns for future journeys. Stay dry, warm and safe. Mark Alberta, Canada
Beautiful cruise! I was just thinking that the water did look like glass and the cut and wake in the water is like silk ripples. Have a Blessed New Year!

Great vlog! Winter, as beautiful as it is, poses many challenges. Top marks on ice navigation guys! Got stuck on the GU one year at Cosgrove. Managed to cruise about half a mile to the next pub. Phoned my boss from the pub to say I was going to be late for work the following week due to ice behind the lock gates 😆 Needless to say it didn't go well. Didn't like the job anyway 🙄Take care all xx
It might be a good idea to visit a fishing shop to buy warm waterproofs, gloves and polarised glasses to protect your eyes and cut through water glare.Thermal insoles are good as well.
Brrrrrrrr !!!!!! that looked really Brrrrrr!!! lol. I`m a hgv driver and had to beat off the ratchet straps which were frozen to the bed of a lorry once then chuck em in the cab to thaw so i can sympathise. I bet that lovely warm stew was delish. Take care guys, looking forward to the next vid x 🙂

As we Americans say ( not so much now-a-days) 10-4 good buddy! I think those nay-sayers are jealous of Mr. Ben and Ms Emily
