Thank you so much for this video. I’m a new Powerstroke owner and have oil in my coolant, and the Powerstroke forums said this is probably my problem.

I just did this to my international bus with the t444e I just realized I messed up and put the orings back in the grooves they were stuck in like you said. No wonder it was so hard to put together. I’m here doing it again because there was oil in coolant. Thanks for the help friend.

I do the same trick with the oil filter but I use a nice sized punch. Make a nice size hole and it drains the filter quick. I've also used a Phillips head screwdriver in a pinch. I always drain my filter before I take it off! So much easier!

Naturally, I’m watching this AFTER I just poured oil all over myself! Pulled out the drain plug, let it drain overnight, started to unscrew the oil filter and it felt like 4 quarts gushed into my face. An exaggeration I’m sure, but what a mess - ha ha!
Maybe next time I watch the video BEFORE I start.

Just spin the block heater metal retainer and it will thread off. I just pulled the cooler off my 2000 F250 4X4. What a pain to get to. Did you pull your power steering pump to get at the front end of the cooler bolts? 45 minutes. My shop in town quoted 4-5 hours. I'm doing mine rolling in the gravel. I have a nice shop and didn't want oil and coolant all over the floor. Mine was contaminating my coolant with oil. The o-rings were still soft, but flat. My end cap to block gaskets looked fine. It was definitely a PIA job.

The Molykote 55 says it swells o-rings for better sealing. Molykote 111 does not list that as a feature.

I'm doing mine now. I have taken off the cooler, disassembled and cleaned the two housings and the cooler tube, and am getting ready to install the new seals and reinstall on the truck.
I noticed while I was cleaning the cooler that coolant is slowly dripping out of my open oil pan. Is this normal while doing this? how else could coolant get into the oil pan?

Did you replace it due to oil in the coolant? Or just leaking exterior?

  • @davidhimeback9087

The o ring that were in the ends, do you need to put o-rings back in the ends?
Also how did you clean the tube? does the ends with the holes come out?

Nice video sir. I also have oil in my ford everest 2008 coolant system. I had replaced my oil cooler, after 1 month oil is back in my rad. It was the o ring seal inside oil cooler that is broken again, so i change it. after 1 month oil was back again in my rad. it has been the third time i change it and It makes me wondering, what make the o ring keep broken? Please advise. Thank you.

If you don't want black oil right after you change it then pour a qt. of clean oil through with the drain plug out. Do this every oil change till its clean looking.

Those front bolts killed me putting them in I couldn't get the gasket to stay in place. So ended up using rtv to hold it in place till I could get the bolts in. Now I'm redoing it cause apparently that's not a good method. Found this time taking the fender well out gives better access.

With all the high performance parts out there isn't there a stock oil cooler delete with the two ends that bolt on the block that have AN fittings to run to a better fan cooled oil cooler??

It's my understanding that you dont have to take the front housing off. That's what I seen in another video. He just undid the back oil filter housing and popped it out just pulling on it a little.

Ya the tubes corrode over time and oil and coolant can mix. Then you will need to replace the cooler

Why is there extra o rings?

    • @weslymanley8953
      @weslymanley8953 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The 4 o-rings are required. Each side has 2. . 1 on each side towards the inner most part of the cooler to seal off lip of the caps. 1 on each side towards the outter most part of the cooler to keep oil and coolant from just pushing their way out of the cooler, into the caps and out. That is, until they start going bad.

If thees do this will it cause truck not to start? I mean like the water mixing innthe oil would cause the oil not let injectors fire right?
