Anyone who pulls off a taunt cancel mid combo is a god
they are actually pretty easy to do in many situations (but not on the 64 controller idk if people were allowed to use the newer controllers that people use in this game as no one did)
theres a gamecube controller adapter idk if its jank or not tho cus no one uses it
+John Lee McMullen forgot what it was called but theres a pretty popular 3rd party n64 controller that re designs the shape so its a little more ergonomic. The shape is the classic boomerang shape with the gray stick on the far left, buttons on the right, and the dpad in the center

+John Lee McMullen well the stick is more often used than the dpad, so it should be in the better position.
Seems like some judges were factoring in the failed attempts, not the actual combo. Hopefully the system will be more cohesive next time.
Prince's combos are works of art
surprised EE/d1 were judges instead of people more familiar with the game.

After 2 more years of combo contests, It's amazing to see how much the combo contest has improved. NGL a lot of it was thanks to Prince forcing everyone to step up their game to even compete. The expectations for the combos have increased so much that what's considered a "high bar" or "crazy" now is a basic expectation now.

that wasn't too mean... it was actually pretty accurate. EE clearly looked like he had no idea what he was doing, as if someone told him he would be a judge and he fought against it but had to in the end.
And D1 tried to be a decent judge but immensely lacked the game knowledge to do it at even a mediocre level
that actually sums up D1's smash career in general
Play in Smash one day so we can see who truly has game knowledge in their career of the game.
So we had different metrics that we followed in order to figure out how to properly judge, but no one told us how to do it. I was taking off points for screw ups at first, then we all agreed to not dock points for it.

d1 gave him a 5 for the combo with 3 pivots 6 fast falls and 2 reverse b-airs that ended in falcon punch and gave the guy who didnt even finish a 7, get this guy outa here man

I think certain characters (like Link and Samus) should be given more time to account for the setup time that their combos require (such as the Charge Shot or invisible bombs).

smash 4 has a lot of hype combos that are easy to use and are really stylish unlike smesh bras malay, which the only easy combo your ever gonna get is shine to shine to shine to gimp.
