What wonderfully true words. Beginners in particular should take them to heart. Skateboarding is a process. Things that scare you, become completely normal and things that you really wanted to do sometimes, become completely insignificant in retrospect. What an excellent summary. Thank you for your efforts and your valuable work. I admire how you can express things that everyone actually knows, but you get to the point so wonderfully and give something to think about while also making you feel good. Great work
I find the behind the scenes insight nicely authentic :) And yes, I notice the change of perception with regard to my drop ins. The better I get at them, the smaller the ramps appear 😄
I had this happen with a down rail on an A-frame at my local park. I had spent a couple weeks skating at other parks and popping a lot of tricks out of banks, so when I went back to my local and rolled up to that rail to try a backside boardslide, I realized that suddenly the distance I had to pop to get onto the rail felt small, like I could just ollie completely over if I wanted, it was a weird experience. Great video as always :)
Really loved this. Havent been able to get on my board at the end of summer and through the Fall but looking towards the winter and workouts to get ready for next spring.
Speaking about the weather, I'd be curious to see a video about what to do in winter time to keep improving (apart from the obvious going to an inside skatepark) !
I hear you.. When I was 12.. I ollied the steps at the local highschool which at the time felt massive to me. Going back now after 30 yrs looks more like a high curb 😂😂😂
Never have a spot when I'm in the middle of nowhere lol. Just a front pad about 15×15. That's all. Pebbles included lol. I hope to find a good skate spot someday
You want to talk about weather, try living in South Wales!!! The last week has been a permanent sheet of mist and drizzle… and even when it’s dry the ground just stays damp.. To be fair, I’m only moaning ‘cos I’m an English guy living in Wales!! Great vid as usual. Keep shredding
Hello Ms. Sara, I be lurking on your channel for a while, but today was really started to delve deep into it. I gotta say your a excellent sk8er. What is cool is that you are an average human being (dont take that the wrong way... please. Not braile. Not Nora. But you come off as a kick ass nerdy girl that also loves to excel academically. I practice Zen, and now I am twice retired and lived to be 60 so far. Some really heavy highs and lows went down for me last year, and things got even heavier for me, to the point where my health is changed forever. All I have is my Boards and my bikes, and I suck I can carve do some og 70s freestyle tricks and used to ride ramps learned to drop in. But now.... I dont care, if you can roll and learn and love it, show the love to the concrete, the asphalt etc. Thats all it is in the end right? It's the feels, the mindfullness that we have to garner to connect mind and body to create and express with the environment. I love love love to watch street skating now, and I can't even ollie but I am getting there. I slammed really bad a few times over the last year and at my age it takes time to recover. I also wear mad safety gear, and stretch and do some yoga, meditate. I like your channel too much to because you sk8ing is the first thing I ever saw back in 1976, you know it was all freestyle, with some banks, people doing headstands. The one thing I think you are really good at it is being humanistic and approachable, but you have this like suave professor of skateboards vibe going on. Like this is skateboarding at the university, teach it in Korean/English while traveling back in Korea. Thank you so much for this content, I would much rather watch you than HULU or something. Be well/Practice Self Care/Keep Pushin
Hello! Thank you for the kind message and sharing your own story. It's awesome you can watch the videos and get a little reminder of early freestyle! I wish there were more videos from that time. And no worries "average human being" is exactly who I want to be. I think it's also nice to be part of a community of people just who enjoy skating at all levels and niches. That's what I've tried to achieve here at least. I'm happy to hear you're taking skateboarding at your own pace, enjoying it and finding ways to have fun! I hope you also get to keep pushing, having fun and working towards your goals!
can definitely attest to the shuvit thing, i landed my first after about a month of skating, and it was really annoying hearing it was one of the "easiest" tricks whilst struggling to land one, along with reading some people's comments saying they learned it in a few days, sometimes even a few minutes. kinda like you said, shuvs are "easy" in the sense that, when there are way more difficult tricks you could possibly be doing, shuvs are on the lower end of the difficulty spectrum. but for a less experienced skater who's just stepping up to shuvs, it can be challenging. it's kinda like how a college student who's taking calculus probably finds fractions in comparison easy, while say a 5th grader just learning them might struggle to wrap their head around the concept before they get it
Right? 💯 agree. The experience is all relative to the skater and environment (or student), which I think can be equal parts frustrating and incredible 😂
I'm really new to skating and appreciate your videos. Love the thought that "wherever you are is where you need to be." Thank you!
Thats right go get outside. Enjoy

Was practicing Shuvits today. Definitely harder for me than practicing Ollie's. I can't grasp the concept of the entire movement set.
it's cool how we experience each trick individually, right?
Does this mean I’m a skate TH-camr now
most likely 💁♀️ welcome to the club, Mat
