@MrDanoconnor same here first tractor i've seen. Is the rear wheel bolts left handed on that too? Also I wonder if thats why they got away from left handed threads on the left side was that people would forget and break them off all the time. Would be easy to forget in a hurried situation

There are a lot of people who never thinks of old machines as a culture heritage, sad, but we have to live with it. Anyhow, at least you got a parts macine, that's something.
Left hand thread, yeah, that's a gotcha! Don't know how many chainsaw cranks that was broken that way, the clutch end is in most cases reverse thread.

I bought one of these old babes, just hard to find someone that works on them.

@farmall51 I'm sure it can be fixed with some sheetmetal work.

my 48 willy's jeep is the same way in the lug department. i actually found out by accident by simply trying to get them to move in either direction and well there left handed should save someone alot of frustration

This is one cool toy. Are the parts hard to find?

@stevenpturcheck I believe a Lot of Old AMC & Dodge / Plymouth Cars were the same way. too. I can remember snapping 2 Left side Lugs off a 63 Dodge Dart once until I finally woke up to it! This is the first tractor I have found this way.

@oldchevy4x4 Exactly what I was thinking...I've seen guys do simular things with the DB Walk Behinds, Really Burns Me Up.

I hate when People do stuff like that . do you think you can maybe fix the hood or will it be too hard.

If the PO needed that engine on there so bad, he should have just took the hood off & left it un-molested. People like that aggravate me to no end

Hey I'm actually restoring a 1959 DB Suburban for my grandfathers 80th birthday and am looking for a new engine for it... wondered if you have any suggestions?

I'd suggest a 5 to 8 HP Tecumseh or Briggs. Horizontal Shaft ... Anything Bigger will NOT fit under the Hood. Good Luck.

MrDanoconnor hey finally got a 7.5 B&S mounted up on the refurbished DB suburban tractor...I’d love to ask you a couple questions on the best way to adjust the belts out to work right? My cell is +16155177463

I wonder why the guy didn't just take the hood off. What use is the hood, anyhow? Seems useless. My granddad's DB walk-behind didn't even have a hood.

Previous owner should have just plumbed in the muffler & air cleaner to fit somewhere else, no brainer. One time my dad put the farmall M hood/grill together with duct tape and even that was better than the butcher fixie.
