Probably best song ever written. Lyrics astonishing weaving together historic events to a central theme and protagonist, the Devil. Bet the Devil loves this tune! I bet God secretly loves it too. Stones...legends. RIP Charlie xxx
Great song. Music is personal, it's whatever raises the hairs on the back of your neck. There's so many amazing songs from great bands that don't make the radio, so only the biggest fans of that band know of them. Pearl jam "Tremor Christ". Blind melon "I wonder". Tom waits "Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis". Van Morrison "avalon of the heart", and "steal my heart away". If I could only have 1 song to take with me on a island I think it would be "into the mystic" by van the man Morrison. That's tough for me to say too, because I think every song pearl jam has written is great. I actually think Jane's addiction covers this song, and makes it their own, as well as the original, and I love the original.
As an expert on these matters of music and song, I absolutely agree that this is the greatest rock and roll song ever written. And all those who may disagree shall be revealed as know-nothings and imposters who will be banished to the comment section of boy band videos and other such schlock.

I saw the Stones one hot summer night in Downsview Park, Ontario. The Pope had been on the site the year before and some thought the park was now holy ground and "they better not play that song!" Well, you know they were not going to back down from that. With the high pillars of flame and blazing red lighting illuminating the crowd of 500,000, it looked as if the whole park had descended into hell. What a night!! WoooHooo!
Ive followed you guys since I was sixteen, a great influence in my life, my era of music. Im 62 now god know's how I survived the 60' 70 and 80's I did, many of my friends did not. To me it was ground breaking times, although my son would beg to differ and u know maybe his right, this is his time. There's some good stuff around today, but alot of it. I take my hat off to u, although I do not wear a hat. You do it well in your 60's 70's Kind regards
Abrahadabra the reward of Ra-Hoor-Khuit the unveiling of the company of heaven. For every man and every woman is s star. Do what though wilt shall be the whole of the law, law under love, love under wilt. 93/93
The lyrics are so easy to understand it's just a history lesson to me. Start from the beginning of time. Saying he's been around for many a long year. Not years. You have to get it from the beginning. Then he goes onto what's happened in history. When Jesus Christ was crucified. To the present. That's what this song is about.
I know. I remember hearing the lyrics as a child and interpreting them literally. When I realized it was a song about political and economic power I couldn't believe how stupid I had been.
I'm 15 and love this band. I first heard this song on Call Of Duty Black Ops, then I bought one of the Stones albums. I love the older generation's music. It's way better than most of the stuff that's out now
Ever heard about Sabaton? It's a very good metal band. If you dont like metal you should check out 'de Staat'. It's a Dutch rock band, but sings in English. I still agree most rap is shit though.
This was my deceased nephews most favorite Rolling Stones song! He now rocks with pillars of rock ‘n’ roll that have gone through the door of death into a higher life.
@blindtoby Why? Satan's biggest tool is trying to convince people he doesn't exist. This song at least gets people to think about the evil existing in the world, if not the actual existence of Satan. You are at a greater danger if you pretend evil doesn't exist. Mick said this song was more about evil within mankind than Satan...it does force you to think about your own capacity for evil. And that is something they preach about in church every Sunday.
They believe in The Devil like this song, but not God. The Bible has a hidden secret code in it when it was written. If you can't unlock the secrets hidden in the contrasts and other books, then you aren't very good with numerology either. God is the universe (omnipresent) and math and science, saying there is no God is like saying the universe, math, and science don't exist that they are illusions.
They squeezed and distilled the essence of the delta blues and combined it with Rock n Roll to create this evergreen masterpiece. Robert Johnson would be proud of this Anglo Saxon bunch of his disciples....

Pay'em respect as only a group of very wise men are capable on all that: Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long years Stole million man's soul an faith And I was 'round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game Stuck around St. Petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed Tsar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank Held a general's rank When the blitzkrieg raged And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name, oh yeah Ah, what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the gods they made I shouted out Who killed the Kennedys? My Condolences to Mr Watts family, The Stones. Rest In Peace Forever Charlie Watts. Well Played, Well Done Sir 🙏🏻
Love the Stine's and this track, but I thought that the guitar work during this track was a bit off
Still f*cking great in 2019.
BEST BAND OF ALL TIME.
The Best!
His voice isn't gone
Yep
Sure is David😉💯
David Lemaire Yes! Luvin them even more than ever!
Mick Jagger will always be my favorite these songs are 50 years old 🎹♥️ inspiration
Just can't get enough, and Keith, you're still rocking it
I saw the Stones one hot summer night in Downsview Park, Ontario. WoooHooo!
Bill Oates i was there too! great time!
Keith's intro riffs and uncomplicated guitar solos are rock history.
Most amazing performance and version of this song EVER! LOVE these guys!
In terms of sound quality, image quality, and performance, I think this is the best take of Sympathy For The Devil.
How good is this; great theatricals, generous sympathy. Classical quality; and of course, excellent drumming from the late Charlie Watts.Sayonara.
I can t believe that he is nearly 80 years old and still dancing and singing like a teeneger. I think he is immortal👍
Sold his soul for rock and roll, and I like it woo, woo😂❤ 5:56
Ive followed you guys since I was sixteen, a great influence in my life, my era of music. Im 62 now god know's how I survived the 60' 70 and 80's I did, many of my friends did not. To me it was ground breaking times, although my son would beg to differ and u know maybe his right, this is his time. There's some good stuff around today, but alot of it.
I take my hat off to u, although I do not wear a hat. You do it well in your 60's 70's Kind regards
The Rolling Stones are the best! We'll rock and roll with love for our beloved Japan 🙇 Tokyo Dome concert please 🙇❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Got into the Stones when I was 8-9 years old. I'm 47 and I'm still in awe of them
Nobody could do it like Charlie Watts. Thanks Charlie you made so many people so very happy.
Amazing how young the crowd is, music for all generation indeed.
Best song ever.
when you get the lyrics you realize how incredible this song is
That's exactly right
Abrahadabra the reward of Ra-Hoor-Khuit the unveiling of the company of heaven.
Thank you so much
I know. I remember hearing the lyrics as a child and interpreting them literally. When I realized it was a song about political and economic power I couldn't believe how stupid I had been.
I've never been passionate about Mick but he's definitely a rock star in his own right
Essa é melhor comentário se tratando de Mick Jageer
Stones=the Gods of Rock and Roll.
hahahahaha
Alejo
Plus Rock, tu meurs! 😈😅
just found out The Rolling Stones will be back on Tour in the States late spring early Summer 2024, can not wait to see them .
50 años de este tema y sus majestades satánicas intactas, ayer, hoy y siempre ROLLING !!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, you had to have real talent back then
Keep on rocking kid. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🏴🇬🇧
Pleased to meet you

The Strolling Bones still stinking up the stage after all these years.
This was my deceased nephews most favorite Rolling Stones song! He now rocks with pillars of rock ‘n’ roll that have gone through the door of death into a higher life.
4:52 is the coolest part......Keith starts it.....Ronnie finishes it. amazing timing and playing
Poor Ronnie is so underrated! One he'll of a guitarist and musician. Love see him n Rod team up on special occasions.
Yes, I was following that, too. Real ensemble playing.
THIS

and book
@blindtoby Why? Satan's biggest tool is trying to convince people he doesn't exist. This song at least gets people to think about the evil existing in the world, if not the actual existence of Satan. You are at a greater danger if you pretend evil doesn't exist. Mick said this song was more about evil within mankind than Satan...it does force you to think about your own capacity for evil. And that is something they preach about in church every Sunday.
blindtoby Cant understand how someone can believe in god with all the contrasts in the bible.

42. Because reason.
What a bass line.
Greatest track.. Wow
The best song ever in the whole world !!! Love when a concert starts with it !!!!!
They squeezed and distilled the essence of the delta blues and combined it with Rock n Roll to create this evergreen masterpiece. Robert Johnson would be proud of this Anglo Saxon bunch of his disciples....
the rolling stones do not get enough credit they well deserve, just by this live performance explains ROCK N ROLL... LEGENDS
Lyrics are as deep and great as the music and performance ! Pay'em respect as
only a group of very wise men are capable on all that:
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long years
Stole million man's soul an faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
Stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed Tsar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out
Who killed the Kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politeness
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Aah yeah
Tell me baby, what's my name?
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name?
Tell me baby, what's my name?
I tell you one time, you're to blame
What's my name
Tell me, baby, what's my name?
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name?

50 years old and rockin' STILL to the Rolling Stones!
Great song, by a great group. They're great in concert. I've seen then in concert before, and I definitely wasn't disappointed.
I actually came here to listen to the original recording, but who can take their eyes off this guy? I ended up watching the whole video.
