  • A beginning installation of racket pinion to my plasma cutting table. I will eventually get rack opinion on both the x-axis and y-axis but for now I only have the x-axis done I'm waiting for some aluminum to machine so that I can have everything ready to apply the y-axis.

R Reichel, great video! did you use any type of gear reduction when you changed over to RNP? also, do you know how many teeth your (gear) pinion is?

Quieter too. Does plasma arc require eye protection like welding ?

Do you have the links to the rack and pinion that you ordered? I'm in the process of upgrading a table I got and want something that quick for cutting and not having problems like with belts and leadscrews.

@@bobreichel sweet! Do you have a link or just looked for those under the names of them. I've looked a few times but sometimes I get different sponsored ad listings that I want to make sure I'm ordering the right ones.

In my opinion rack and pinion is by far the better choice. That being said you have to be sure your gears mesh well and have proper tension. Mine do not slip at all. It's all about how you set it up.

yep lead screws aren't good for long spans.
