thanks for the elaborated tutorial, it was pretty good but I dont get one thing, how do you get rid of seams completely? without using any 3rd party apps and without using the 3dsmax's canvas tool...? is there any simple method for that? (I would imagine that even if the peel is good, with a complex texture the seems would be pretty visible, so thats an issue.) I know that stitching together some parts of the peels can help but its not gonna eliminate the seams 100% so it isnt really a solution for this problem.
Thank you so much for these excellent training videos - I've been using 3DS Max for a long time but am only now getting experience in some of the many areas within it. Unwrap UVW has always been a mystery to me because until now I've been able to get away with it. Still, I like to know how things work :) You explain so well because you clearly understand that people need to know WHY you do things - not just demonstrate how. One area which I don't quite understand is texture painting, but I'm not sure I know what my question is going to be ! I'll try. When you're painting on the surface (in this case, a head), do you need to take into account, as a texture artist, that the back of the head (as far as I can see on that 2d texture map) looks stretched ? Whilst the eye area seems VERY VERY small in comparison. I *ALSO* say that because when you did the purple lines around the eyes, those were like pencil lines, yet in the map, when you applied it, it looked like he had two black eyes. I'm guessing that wasn't intentional, though it may have been. Or maybe it's an iterative process, you paint, you see the effect and then you go back to your 2d paint program and redo ??? I'll do some research, but in the meantime, once more, thank you so much. This tutorial has been perfect.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! You explain everything so well, and step by step.
