    Bride of Frankenstein was wrapped in bandages. It was a whole beautiful bandage dress. Lisa is literally the Bride of Frankenstein. ❤

    I know people theorize that Cole got his tongue from the girl who tattle taled on her, but I think he got it from the guy just yelling at him in the neighborhood.
    You see him lying down dead while the kid waves at Cole leaving.

      i dont think that guy was dead. for one thing, the kid was watching and for another, his face was clearly visible and there was no blood anywhere. i havent heard the theory about him taking tamara's tongue, though!

    Lisa’s story more closely follows the life of Mary Shelley (the author of Frankenstein) Mary’s mom died when she was young and she spent her childhood at her mother’s grave , which is where she learned to read and write by tracing the tombstones (like Lisa does at the start).
    The book Lisa is reading to Creature’s grave and that he is reading at the end is titled Shelley’s Poems which could be either Mary’s or her husband’s work. (The poem Creature is reading at the end is a love poem from Mary’s husband to her.)
    Mary Shelley was also pretty morbid. Losing her v!rg!n!ty on her mother’s grave and keeping her husband’s heart after he passed.

    I think by the end her eyes are burned because of the fire, since eyes are the first things that decompose. That's why they're pink. Also, could be a metaphore for how eyes are the windows to the soul.

    I think that the reason Janet accused Lisa of putting the worm in her breakfast was because she was just looking for any reason to send her away at that point, even going as far as blaming her for something that happened while she was at school. Like you mentioned earlier, she’s the type of person who wants everything in her life to be perfect, and Lisa was ruining that, so she needed to send her away as soon as possible.

    I really enjoyed this movie, I saw it opening weekend. It feels like it owes a lot to Heathers and Edward Scissorhands. It feels like a cult classic in the making.

      Yeah, they are both not Americans so it understandable that they didn't catch that reference... I mean I'm Canadian and I know what the Brady Bunch was ... I assumed that the stepmom had killed Lisas mom, as soon as Taffy told her friends about the murder and their parents getting together fairly soon (esp since Janice was so keen to get rid of Lisa). But towards the end I started to wonder if they would reveal that Lisa had done it.

    • @roxirock5455
      @roxirock5455 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It is an interesting theory, but I think it wouldn't really make sense since Lisa genuinely seemed to miss her mom and her old life.
      If they do decide to make a sequel, it could be interesting to address more the mur"er of Lisa's mom.

    • @MenMjau
      @MenMjau 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@roxirock5455 I agree that would be interesting in a potential sequel.
      And I don't really suspect Lisa (much). It was just a possible surprise turn I considered when things got a bit more unhinged. A "don't trust the narrator kind of thing".
      Another reason that she probably didn't kill her mom is that she discovered her liking for dea th and mu rder (the action of it) during the events of the movie. When it happened to stepmom it was new (and she didn't do it herself, which I think would have been likely if she'd done it before)

      Thanks so much 😊🙏
      That seems to be the case for a lot of female-led movies these days. It gets negative reviews, then people either straight up agree or go watch and expect it to be bad, and then we have so many people simply agreeing with whatever the first reviewer said, not actually finding out for themselves, thinking for themselves. They come in closed off to the possibility of it being a good movie. That's very sad.
      Not to end on a sour note, glad you watched it, was either open to it, or already a fan of similar things, and loved it 😊✨ - Maria

    when I went and saw this in theaters by the time we got to the scene where Lisa finds her sister with her crush everyone else in the theater left it was just me, my sister and my mom left and we loved the movie. we found it funny how everyone walked out but us.(although I was angry with those people because they left their trash for the people to pick up and they made their job unnecessarily harder than it had to be so me and my older sister cleaned up the theater room.)

Even though I feel the movie has a lot of unexplored potential and an abrupt tonal shift in some places, I still really liked it mainly because of the acting. Kathryn Newton nailed this role as well as Lisa Soberano (I love how Taffy was still sweet and not mean) and Carla Gugino can do no wrong. I will definitely rewatch this one.

    hey! so the movie takes place in illinois and there IS a very famous, very old* disused cemetery in the SW suburbs of chicago called bachelor's grove! of course, it had a reputation for being haunted but it's actually closed to the public except for family of anyone already buried there. no new burials since 1989 due to the haunted claims and subsequent vandalism (including partying because of how secluded it was). it's actually a really beautiful place, very peaceful and natural looking unlike typical cemeteries, you know?

    This movie was so fun! It was the first dark comedy I’d ever seen so I had mixed feelings about it; like y’all said, Lisa could be hard to root for. (I do wish they had let Michael live; I feel like they could’ve gotten what they needed from Doug 😅)

      The first one ever for you? Interesting.
      I love this movie, but I do think they made it a little complicated in the sense that I’m fairly certain we’re not necessarily supposed to root for Lisa, we’re just supposed to see how she gets from who she is at the start, to who she is at the end and think about it. It’s a character study, ya know what I mean? - Sam
