The beauty of the swollen river, the green trees, the spacious home, the airy enclosures, the rustic outdoor flooring, the plush interiors... this is what resort living should be. Living in this beautiful home must be akin to living in a luxury spa. Such class such beauty and fabulous creation. Congratulations to the proud and happy owners and well done to the team that built this beautiful home.

As the state's been more prone to massive floods in the last 5-10 years, having a house and that too of this level of magnificence, right next to a large river, does seem to invoke a bit of concern. Having said that, I'd love to hear if this has ever crossed the minds of the owners, engineers and that architects and if so, what all measures or design choices have been taken against this.

Had the same thought as I watched this video. Having been in my ancestral home in Chengannur during the 2018 floods, one thing that provided me solace was the fact that I had a terrace (which I hated until that day) so if things go *really* bad there's atleast a chance of me being airlifted to safety. Something most of my neighbours with their traditional roofs didn't have. Luckily, it didn't go up to that extent in my part of the town still I have this thought everytime I visit a new house which lies in a flood prone area (which as you know increased dramatically post 2018 because Chengannur isn't a place that's known for floods unlike neighbouring Kuttanad).

What a dumb rejuvenation done by this architect , Kerala Hindu traditional homes are completely based on temple architectural style when a designer from other religion try to build it will end up like this . This home lost the soul of their religion , cause a Hindu traditional home means it recall the living & cultural style belong to their own religion , now this home looks like a christian home which always addressing a search of tradition but there will be nothing like that .

Haven't the learned architect Thought About it and he didn't mention what were the precautions taken by him while designing the Renovation of the house and what will be the water receeding levels of the garden area which is just less than 25 meters from the river bed and flowing water???

The only thing I found most appealing about this house was the sprawling verandah fronting the river.
Peace naturally flowed into the house because of this one aspect.
What I find maddeningly unoriginal , is the lifeless, imitative concept of the nadumittom , with metal chains attached to it's 4 corners, probably to magnify the sound of falling rain.
Whatever it's purpose, sorry, lt looks ugly.
And of course the mandatory swing. No house in Kerala , it appears , can hold its head high without this feature.
It's become so cliched that it has lost its aesthetic appeal.
