Hi everyone! just wanted to say thanks for commenting and watching! and thank you for all your continued support over the years!.. sorry about the over exposure of the video, it was a really bright day, and this was filmed quite awhile ago before we knew what we were really doing, so thanks for bearing with us. and if you guys wanna help us out and follow us on facebook, that would be greatly appreciated, even if you never even view our page over there (because its gonna be mostly the same content as here) but it will go a long way to help us getting monetized over there. we really appreciate it, and thanks for watching. enjoy!
When I was a kid I was almost buried alive while making a snow fort. Your videos remind me of that near fatal event except I don't see you getting out alive. Dig safer!
Always a pleasure...I'm a old digger from northern Minnesota.... now I live in Pennsylvania and I truly find very old artifacts....Pontils everywhere. 👍
I've never watched a video like this before and i was was amazed at how many were whole. A very nice touch was you captioning each bottle and sometimes putting up even more info, along with your verbal explanation as they were coming out. Thank you!
This brings back fond memories of digging with my mom about 50 years ago in Poplar, WI in a place she said her grandmother had a little cabin. We found bottles and some cool stuff I had no idea what most of it was but she did. We were so sweaty and dirty afterwards. We bathed in the poplar river with ivory soap cuz it floats.
This stuff is fascinating to me man. It’s crazy to me you know so much about the different types of bottles. And it’s crazy that you can just find so many! So cool
My best friend and I dug up history at an old Texas town dump in the late 60's. We found hundreds of pre-1860 bottles and tons of silverware and plates, cups, saucers. We stopped saving the old medicine bottles because there were so many of them. Lots and lots of old coins along with jewelry (mostly costume).
buy yourself a market umbrella and stand ...be much cooler and no sunburn ...just found this so enjoying it ...thankyou from Queensland ...dying to see everything washed !
haha we are gonna put more washed stuff at the end of future videos, and we actually bought a canopy to help with the over exposure of the video and its so nice to work under. this video was filmed over a year ago, and we have some more older videos still coming out, but everything we film in the future is gonna be in the shade. and wow, Australia! i was surprised to see that like 7% of my audience if from there. kind of blows my mind. thats actually one of my dream places to dig! probably gonna go there just on vacation someday. well thanks for watching!! oh and i think we are gonna start posting photos on facebook if you wanna add us, its just "below the plains" thanks!
Please, please don’t take this wrong, but your videos are the absolute best to fall asleep to! I seriously rewatch EVERY episode, the next day, with all ads! Your calmness, in a constant video game world, is just awesome! Because of you, I’ve made my own probes, and will dig a few outhouse holes, out here in the north east! Again, please don’t take it wrong. Your content ROCKS!
I am from TN and worked for PanAmerican Consultants. Maritime and terrestrial archeology. I enjoy your content. We found some civil war and Blackfoot Indian sites that were amazing. Louisiana yielded amazing Indian artifacts too. You are passionate!
haha yeah, very passionate! wow i gotta get out east some time.. i love digging in this area, but there were no settlers here til the early 1860s at the earliest.. the oldest town is from like 1870 (if you exclude army garrisons and forts) but out east and down south, some of that stuff is from like the 1600s! id be happy to hit anything before 1850 to be honest.. well thanks for watching! and be sure to follow us on facebook if you are over there, its just "below the plains" thanks!
Always a treat when you guys post a video. They are so full of history and cool bottles, and local history. Thanks for the hard work it takes to take us along.
I am a History but and I love how packed full of information your videos are. I think that is why I love metal detecting and bottle digging so much. There isn't one window in my home without bottles adorning them full of flowers during the warmer months. It really give the house a "real homey" touch. I get compliments from everyone about how pretty it looks even the Amazon delivery guy loves it. What is the long pole you use to dig with? It looks like rebar, but I also know they make them out of fiberglass or plastic too. I made a long screwdriver looking handbook out of ash. I've been using this one for the past 8 years and it hasn't broken yet!
oh yeah! same here.. i have a bunch of bottles in my windows and all over my shelves.. i have old clay flower pots that ive found and glued back together and i use those.. and old crocks too.. they just look so good! and the best part is that they are authentic pieces, and not just modern replicas!! i know some people who make drinking glasses out of the the broken sodas, and they are super cool. some people make jewelry out of the old tops that were knocked off. i was thinking about doing that someday myself. and the long pole? im not sure exactly what you mean. do you mean the stick we use to dig the bottles out? it was just a cylindrical stick of wood we got at a hardware store and we just sharpened the end.. we filmed this a while ago, so we quit using that and just use a trowel now.. mostly because its faster to get them out, which helps speed the videos along. but basically you can just use an old broom handle and sharpen the edge, and cut it down to about 18 inches. ive also heard that using a thin piece of PVC pipe works too.. basically just do the same thing, get about an 18 inch piece of a pipe thats fairly thin around.. maybe 3/4 inch.. but i havent tried this before.. i know people tend to try to stay away from using metal because its way easier to damage the bottle, and using wood or plastics make it less likely that you will scratch or break the bottle. hope that was helpful! thanks for watching
haha yeah i like their channel too.. probably my favorite one from the UK.. and yeah deadwood.......... we have been working on getting in somewhere there for about a year now. its kind of all cemented over now, but there is still a bunch of stuff left open.. but the downtown area is basically all cement now, so idk if we would be able to hit a saloon but, id honestly be happy if we got to dig anything at all. well thank you, we really appreciate that, glad you found us, and thanks for leaving us a comment
Another great dig from my favorite YT channel. No blabbing or yelling. Just facts about great finds and cool camera work. Thanks for everything you guys do.
My favorite episode yet, by far. Incredible dig! I inherited a collection of found antique bottles, in my case, I am lucky the finder already cleaned them up to immaculate condition. Watching your videos, I learn how to identify some of my old bottles. One of the bottles has a super narrow, constricted open neck, but a roomy circular , flat bottle base. I'm guessing earliest 1800's. That was some totally mucky water, you are a true archeologist!
Fantastic, I am so pleased it was a brilliant dig for you both. The bottles with embossing blow me, they are beautiful and finding the base to the oil lamp awesome, I have blue glass at home, love the sunlight shining through it. The brown square bottles are definitely worth a mention too. Thank you so much for the video, hoping the best for you always.
Wow, crazy how many there were in that hole.. it was a big hole, but its crazy there were THAT many. Lots of unbroken china too! Nice, thanks for sharing
This was so entertaining! I felt like I was there, and you were handing me the bottles as you removed them. Way to go!! Enjoyed your digging into history so much!!
hahaha we actually once dug an entire pit one time.. barely found anything.. and at the very bottom, we found a maybe 10 year old aquafina bottle.. someone got there first.. thanks for watching!!
My husband and I dug near the house where hid dad lived, as did his dad and his dad. Going back into the mid 1800’s. We found a gallon crock that’s marked with; Revigator and other writing, we dug around a bit more and found old canning jars still had stuff in them along with one old coke bottle and 3 milk jars. We will be digging more but this is what we found so far, oh we also found a 2nd crock, a large one with a number 8 and made in Organ. Love your videos should add we are in our mid 60’s and would love to dig around here but not having the youth we did have is hard. ✌🏽
Great job again, diving deep into the forgotten past, no diving gear or wet suit needed,(well, maybe a wet suit as you struck water)😊😊 just a muddy tank top and the trusty probe stick.. thanks.. 👍👍
I think it would be interesting if you did a tutorial video explaining the different manufacturing techniques and how glass making evolved over the years.
thank you! appreciate you leaving us a comment!!! that always helps. and if you wanna check us out on facebook, we are gonna be posting some of our finds and videos over there this coming season!! its just "below the plains" over there too. thanks for watching
You probably have done this already, but it would be cool if you did a video on how to recognize some of these bottle types. Machine made, tool top etc.
i forgot to mention, if anyone knows what it is we are holding up at 17:20 the please let us know, because that is the one thing we werent really sure about. thanks!
lol thank you! glad you llike it.. and yeah not gonna lie, its actually really fun to dig these things up, and im just glad that other people like watching. well again, thank you, and thanks for subbing!
Love all the videos you have made. Hearing the history of the places dug, is amazing. Keep up your great work. Its hard work I am sure. Very much appreciated
Amazing how many unbroken bottles you're finding! Back in the 60's my buddy and I discovered a garbage dump from old Fort Custer in Montana. For every unbroken bottle we scratched through a few hundred broken ones. Did find some old Cavalry gear though. Leather scraps, uniform scraps, knives, forks, spoons, uniform buttons and a couple "US" Belt Buckles. Also found the rifle range and dozens of cartridge cases, lead, and complete rounds. I remember some odd large bottles we found with round bottoms and pointed bottoms...no idea what they once held.(?)
The bottles that you found with pointed and round bases are made that way so they don't stand on a flat surface. They are meant to be half buried in the ground to keep cool and help to lengthen the life of the contents.
Amber Colored Bitters and an Intact Plate - cool Find ! These Irons are a Good Find ! A complete China Platter - wow ! More Treasures in the Water and Mud - with this Dig You hit the Jackpot - soooo many rare and old Bottles - You sounded very Pleased ! Cobalt Blue Lamp Base - Fantastic ! Monumental Dig - but it was worth it - wow and wow again ! Cheers from Australia !!!!
The Ness Pharmacy bottle is really nice. I love old bottles with that fancy script lettering on them, similar to the hand-writing style people used to have.
Thank you for taking us along on your amazing discoveries. Thanks for all the hard work you put in digging, sharing history, video taping & editing the wonderful content. I never miss your videos❗❤
yeah.. those sodas were super rare before that day lol.. still happy to get so many of them. and yeah that lamp was amazing, too bad it was broken. well thanks for watching, and commenting and be sure to follow us on facebook, its just "below the plains" thanks!
I stumbled onto your videos by chance and then realized iv been sitting here for hours watching you dig. I would love to do that. All the broken China wow crafts come to mind and all yhe amazing bottles. You must have quite the collection. I'll keep watching♡ Teresa from Texas ♡
wow, thanks! glad you like it.. i was worried that if we put more of the stuff, that isnt just us pulling stuff out, that ppl would get bored and click away, but i realized that when we did that, ppl just thought we were planting things and recording us pull it out lol.. but im glad you like it, i honestly prefer it this way. thanks for watching and commenting!
TOM........ Didn't your mother teach you not to play in the mud?? I'm sure she did, but sure glad you didn't listen this time. LOL Man, now that was a hole full of history. All the Leeds bottles was nice as was several others. And that Cobalt Blue Lamp......... Beautiful..... As you said, shame it was broken. All in all, though a really good dig and a super loaded pit. You had to be what? At least 7 ft deep............. You definitely earned this one. You always end up with some dirt on ya, but pretty sure this was the dirtiest I've ever seen you have to get for the goodies. Awesome job guys.
Another great video. I like how you describe your finds and give history on them. For example the irons, seen other channels find them but never did they say why the handle was gone. Just wanted to say thanks for the treasure hunt and history lessons.
Hi guys love this channel so much. Makes me realize how much work goes into it. Thank you. And yes I saw where that bottle blew up I told you guys BE CAREFUL
haha yeah, im actually gonna be working on that video shortly! its gonna be a good one! and thank you, i really appreciate you letting us know, thats so nice of you!! that makes my day when people say stuff like that, so thank you Carolyn!
Dear Diggers, I have read in different places that in the latter days that people would throw their trash in the outhouse hole (trash) that would not burn and when it was almost full they would dig another hole for the outhouse. Then would fill the old one up with dirt. In the larger cities they would find beautiful colored bottles in the outhouse digs! Cheers!!🤪
A channel to my own heart. Not so much the digs themselves, but how you give us the details and history of the things you find. I just found your channel but will look further. Good work.
yeah i know! i will never forget the first time i watched tom dig out these bottles.. it blew my mind, but then it all just kind of made sense.. they just threw out what wouldnt burn. and i suppose breaking it would save room, but it would come with the risk of getting broken glass all over the place, and a cut could be a death sentence back then. thanks for watching! and commenting!
I use to dig in the old city dump in Juction City KS. It was used from 1870-1930. After that the area was annexed by Ft Riley. The place is huge. I dug down 12 ft and still found bottles. There was a smaller one located on Ft Riley near the Kansas River.
Hey love watching your videos was wondering what you do with all the things that you find would love to see the collection or what you do with your findings 😊
Hi everyone! just wanted to say thanks for commenting and watching! and thank you for all your continued support over the years!.. sorry about the over exposure of the video, it was a really bright day, and this was filmed quite awhile ago before we knew what we were really doing, so thanks for bearing with us. and if you guys wanna help us out and follow us on facebook, that would be greatly appreciated, even if you never even view our page over there (because its gonna be mostly the same content as here) but it will go a long way to help us getting monetized over there. we really appreciate it, and thanks for watching. enjoy!

We found bottles and some cool stuff I had no idea what most of it was but she did. We were so sweaty and dirty afterwards. We bathed in the poplar river with ivory soap cuz it floats.
Used to use ivory soap for bait on trot lines for catfish. Some were 30 lb yellow cats

Awesome. A new video a day early. Can't wait, thanks for sharing
It would be great if you could show a final shot of all the finds after they were cleaned.
He does do that already.
I've watched several videos and he just shows them in piles organized by type but they are definitely not cleaned. @@jefflundquist5771
@jefflundquist5771 As far as I have seen, he doesn't show everything, just a few select objects.
Yea
Pop's here. The max I've ever seen cleared is about 3 pieces. It would give him another form of income to do a cleaned series.
Incredible job, thank you to the landowner that was kind enough and wise enough to give you permission to uncover history.
That was a heck of a haul, the deeper you got the more I started to worry about a side wall cave in.
I was about to say the same thing....
Tommy Chew, Yes! I was concerned, too...especially after he started digging horizontally, while in the pit. Please be careful out there, Tom!
I was thinking about that very thing throughout the entire video.
That and I worried he would break the bottles digging with that metal pick thing.

impressive, back-breaking work.
I love when you find fully intact dishware… just beautiful ❤
Thank you! It is always nice to see that you dropped a new video. Great dig!

It amazes me how many intact bottles you find. Keep on digging I love watching you bring up old history. Thank you so much.
Always amazed how you learned to locate potential sites, and then the pits. Modern day treasure hunters. You are living every kids dream!
Hello handsome
I'm loving the new patent graphics! Ur channel keeps making incremental changes that's really turned into some hit quality content
I’m losing track of how many times I watch your videos, but they are good every time! Thanks!
I love this channel! Makes me want to get in there and dig, so calming. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
I was fascinated at just how strong those bottles are. We have moved away from glass as a material but for the environment, it was far better.
Wow, crazy how many there were in that hole.. it was a big hole, but its crazy there were THAT many. Lots of unbroken china too! Nice, thanks for sharing
That lamp is awesome ! Really good pit with lots of finds ! That was pretty exciting to watch.
This was so entertaining! I felt like I was there, and you were handing me the bottles as you removed them. Way to go!! Enjoyed your digging into history so much!!
That was quite amazing! So glad you found the base to that beautiful lantern!
I noticed a very rare DASANI bottle from 2023. Very collectible!
hahaha we actually once dug an entire pit one time.. barely found anything.. and at the very bottom, we found a maybe 10 year old aquafina bottle.. someone got there first.. thanks for watching!!
Wow that lamp was amazing. I dont think ive ever seen old glass in that particular color! very cool to find it in only 2 pieces
That wine bottle with the embossing is very cool and so is the complete platter! Congratulations.
Great job again, diving deep into the forgotten past, no diving gear or wet suit needed,(well, maybe a wet suit as you struck water)😊😊 just a muddy tank top and the trusty probe stick.. thanks.. 👍👍
Be great to see your finds cleaned up and displayed,,,enjoying your posts xc🏴
I love watching all your finds. Thanks to one of your videos, I was able to identify 2 of my bottles.
Really interesting and fun to watch! Thanks!
I think it would be interesting if you did a tutorial video explaining the different manufacturing techniques and how glass making evolved over the years.
There's a lot of bottle collecting books from the '60s & '70s, some of which go into bottle manufacturing techniques.
Again, excellent filming. Well done. Good finds.
thank you! appreciate you leaving us a comment!!! that always helps. and if you wanna check us out on facebook, we are gonna be posting some of our finds and videos over there this coming season!! its just "below the plains" over there too. thanks for watching
That cobalt blue lamp is amazing! Hope you got to keep that!! Thanks for sharing your hobby!!
Whoa, that was a massive hole and a massive haul. Well done, Tom.
Great haul, guys! Really glad you found that base that went to that cobalt lamp!
Hello beautiful how you doing ❤
A great day. Love this channel.
You probably have done this already, but it would be cool if you did a video on how to recognize some of these bottle types. Machine made, tool top etc.
Yes, I would love to learn about the different bottles. I would also like to know how to find the spots where you have to dig. What to look for.
I'm fascinated by your explorations… Do you get to keep your findings, and do you have some sort of museum to display your treasures?
It just keeps on giving. What a great dig
haha yeah! those sodas were actually pretty rare before this day lol! thanks for watching and commenting
Wow what a cashe of great stuff, especially the cobalt blue etched oil lamp! So cool! So fun anticipating what you'll find! I'm addicted 🤣❤
i forgot to mention, if anyone knows what it is we are holding up at 17:20 the please let us know, because that is the one thing we werent really sure about. thanks!

Incredible dig. Loved the cobalt lantern and the local embossed bottles. Devils Lake was cool. Congrats on an awesome location.👏👍😀
First let me say you earned a sub today. Great work in digging up a little piece of local history.
Great dig. Love to see your private collection.
I love how informative this was, keep it up👍🏼

Loved it when you popped up with the base for that oil lamp. Those irons were far more practical.
Wow that blue lantern! What a find!
This was fun to watch. I love digging g in the dirt and can't much anymore, fun so thanks.
Lots of finds today. Love the lamp. Keep up the great work. 👍

It’s so interesting to watch you find these old rare bottles. What do you do with them? And how did you become involved in such an unusual hobby?
It may be the grandma in me but I get worried that the dirt may collapse in on you. Great finds. Love the cobalt lamp part!
Another great video. I like how you describe your finds and give history on them. For example the irons, seen other channels find them but never did they say why the handle was gone. Just wanted to say thanks for the treasure hunt and history lessons.
Awesome finds and video thanks for sharing have a good nite tom
Hi guys love this channel so much. Makes me realize how much work goes into it. Thank you. And yes I saw where that bottle blew up I told you guys BE CAREFUL
haha yeah, im actually gonna be working on that video shortly! its gonna be a good one! and thank you, i really appreciate you letting us know, thats so nice of you!! that makes my day when people say stuff like that, so thank you Carolyn!
What a haul!
Cheers!!🤪
makes sense for sure. thanks for that info.
Always agreat day when I get to watch one of yalls videos
I envy you! As kids, my brothers and I dug holes. Spent hours digging. I'd love to be there. I'm 75.
A channel to my own heart. Not so much the digs themselves, but how you give us the details and history of the things you find. I just found your channel but will look further. Good work.
Hello how you doing
?? neat bottles! very interesting to this old retired pharmacist! amazing so many were not broken!
yeah i know! i will never forget the first time i watched tom dig out these bottles.. it blew my mind, but then it all just kind of made sense.. they just threw out what wouldnt burn. and i suppose breaking it would save room, but it would come with the risk of getting broken glass all over the place, and a cut could be a death sentence back then.
thanks for watching! and commenting!
I use to dig in the old city dump in Juction City KS. It was used from 1870-1930. After that the area was annexed by Ft Riley. The place is huge. I dug down 12 ft and still found bottles. There was a smaller one located on Ft Riley near the Kansas River.
Epic cobalt lantern!
lol you are just standing in that water! very brave
Hello 👋 from New York you Found Some Amazing Finds Thank you for Bringing me Along with you I can't wait to see What you Find Next 😊
This is most of what I like about Antiques Roadshow, combined with digging.
So I'm going to have to give it the nickname "Antiques Holeshow"
