    997.1 Mezger engine with a manual gear box is probably the best investment car in my opinion……… they’re really going up in value in America and in the UK they’re becoming sought after too and will more than likely go up in value like they have in America

      agreed. manual 997.1s are still going up while most of the used car market seems to be fizzling out...right now the 997.2 manuals are almost 50% more expensive than the 997.1 manuals but I think the .1s will catch up as its a better engine and slightly more analog car compared to the .2 so the stick goes better with the .1 imo... if im in the market for a .2 I would def go pdk.

      In the UK the market is slightly different a 2007 997.1 manual convertible with 40k miles is selling for £65k and a 2009 997.2 convertible manual with 46k miles is selling for £85k the big thing in the UK is the Mezger engine and if you can find a Gen 1.5 manual then that’s the best and rarest of them all.

      @@js002003 what about the 2009 manuals aka the 997 gen 1.5? Metzger engine with .2 interior.

      Well, I don't think so. The one to have is 997.2 turbo manual. Just see the numbers produced between .1 and .2 in manuals. While .2 manual you there are maximum 500-600 units, of .1 manual there are couple of thousands. Apart from car differences which i don't want to enter into it, the rare rare model is the .2 turbo manual, and that would be the one that will hold always a much much higher value than .1 manual

    I prefer the 997.1 taillights. The .2 never looked right from new, and haven't aged well

    Good review. My opinion is if you want a manual you have to buy the .1 because manual .2s are so rare and expensive. If you want an automatic the .2 PDK is the only way to go, plus there is the turbo S which was not offered in the .1.

    Beautiful cars beautifully presented. Im thinking of swapping my old and tired 930 Turbo for a not so tired 997.2 Turbo S am i mad ?

    Great video. I was just looking for this comparison. For collectors, I think the .1 with the Mezger engine is the way to go. In terms of looks, I prefer the .2 esp. the tail lights. I think it looked more refined, classy and well thought out. Also, as you said, it's more refined. If I were to get one, it would be manual for sure. Either way, you can't go wrong with either.

  • @rosemont83

    .2 is objectively a better car. the .1 is just as emotion invoking, but the .2 is a better car. Better traction, better drivetrain, better reliability, better technology. With that said, I would love a 997.1 as well because as you said, it is different.

    • @VLG105
      @VLG105 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      997.2 3.8 has same engine architecture as the lesser models all the way down to the boxster. 997.1 has the mezger engine with proven race pedigree entirely exclusive to that model. That sets it apart, especially in manual form.

    The Mezger block can handle 1500 hp! But has to be fully forged with the finest components money can buy.

    What were the most common problems with the 997.2? I have a 2007 turbo, bone stock, 26k miles, 6sp manual. Knock on wood…I’ve never had any issues. Like none. I’m just curious what others have experienced

    • @gabrielcastrovalverde6129
      @gabrielcastrovalverde6129 ปีที่แล้ว

      A question friend, the 997 2007 turbo has problems with the Intermediate Shaft (IMS)?. I've read around about this problem but I don't know if the 2007 turbo has it.

    • @SignalCorps1
      @SignalCorps1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gabrielcastrovalverde6129The IMS and bore scoring were not an issue with the Mezger engines which were only on the Turbo and maybe the GT cars. The Carrara, Carrara S, Carrara 4, Carrara 4S and Targa from the 996.1, 996.2, and 997.1 didn’t have the Metger engine had hence had the IMS and bore scoring issues.

    Nice video, but I think the turbo spoiler is malfunctioning… it’s up when it’s not moving ;)

    • @spcontractors
      @spcontractors ปีที่แล้ว

      It may have extensions. They make the spoiler go higher than stock(several different sizes available) and supposedly improve the aerodynamics, but they keep the spoiler from going all the way down when "closed" I have 2" extensions on my 997.1
