I went on a date with a girl who wouldn't say anything. So I thought she didn't want to be with me, but just being polite. Then this is when it gets weird. I was going to take her back home, and assured her I had no hard feelings about the situation. Then she started crying, so I pulled over and asked what was wrong. I told her we could watch movies at my house, until she was ready to go home. She stayed 4 days, and we just watched movies (platonically). We have been close friends ever since. I didn't get a girlfriend but I did get a great a good friend who introduced me my girlfriend.

I got sisters and a family to take care of. I agree 10,000% and if you don't, I hope nothing ever happens to your loved ones, but if it ever does, it really changes things. PTSD can come from a lot more than war. ( I only say that because my ex literally said there's no such thing as ptsd and veterans just use that as an excuse) Needless to explain why she ended up an ex. Now she's shocked up with some 100lb dude that doesn't know how to work and has brought her credit down to where she can't get an apartment. I've dealt with a couple of people who've suffered from untreated schizophrenia. The man from the last story was reminiscent of my experiences with those people. The sad thing is that even people who've been diagnosed with schizophrenia oftentimes refuse treatment. The nature of their illness is such that the treatment plays into their psychosis of being controlled and conspired against by an external force. Schizophrenia is a terrible condition to suffer. I'm thankful that the woman got out unscathed, but I hope that the man got the help that he needed in order to get his condition under control. It is incredibly sad and heartbreaking to watch someone you care about suffer from schizophrenia. It's up there with Alzheimer's disease in my opinion. Perhaps even sadder. People who get Alzheimer's disease are at least usually in their golden years and towards the end of their life. Whereas people can start manifesting the signs of schizophrenia as young as their late teens or early twenties and there's currently no cure for either.
As a person diagnosed with it, yeah he definitely was unmedicated or undiagnosed. Initially i did refuse medication(over a decade ago) but once i spent time in the nut-house for doing something i literally do not remember, for 3 years, i was forced to take meds. And after so long of it i actually get scared of myself if i miss a scheduled dose.
Yeah my dad has schizophrenia. He ended up with a assault case because of his delusions . He was manic not making sense. Now he gets monthly injections because he doesn’t take his meds like he should - now that he is back on meds he has gained weight, is a lot healthier and what a difference. He hasn’t been in my life for 20plus years but it’s good to see him healthy as a human

If you don't mind me asking... it's my understanding that the disease causes unusual suspicion (paranoia) towards others. But does the person have a trusted someone, who is an exception? For example, if you are experiencing paranoia, could you call a parent or sibling, and KNOW that they are on your side, are acting in your best interest, and being totally honest with you, or does suspicion fall on everyone? Do life experiences make the disease better or worse? For instance, if you have someone betray you, does that reinforce your belief that no one can be trusted? Or if you doubted someone, and later on, you see evidence that they were consistently loyal, could that ease your mind the next time you have an episode*? * sorry, I don't know what the proper term is. Please feel free to let me know.
Worst date. After 3 days of talking, at the end of our first date she asked me for $40 so her son (she told me she didn't have kids) can go on a field trip and her son's father wouldn't have it until after the trip. Don't know if Jr. made that school trip.

Something happened to me recently like a few months back. I had befriended one of my coworkers who is a good man under a fair amount of stress. I won't mention his personal struggles, but I had recently seen an episode of Murder mystery cafe or something like that. Now, the one I had seen days prior is "He was killed by his best friend". So here's the story: My coworker had asked me if I wanted to go cruising with him on the weekend. I said sure and where to. He said anywhere its just a to drive. He preferred somewhere where we can snack and chill. Out of the years I've known him he's never invited me anywhere to do anything. So I was already on high alert. I kept sending texts and calls to my brother asking him "hey where was that spot where we would hang on the hill top looking out into the city?" My brother gave me the location. But I always made sure I mentioned to him who I was with. Come back home and I told my brother that I was leaving a fucking crumb trail in case I went missing. His response; Oh Is that what you were doing??? That one episode alone was enough for me to basically slap clues onto my family's face.
It wouldn't hurt to send a pic of the guy you're with and the vehicle he's driving to a few close people. And let him know what you're doing. If he's offended, end the date right then and there.

Oh my god, I actually had a roommate in college (I was an idiot and found an apartment on Craigslist with an open room and 4 roommates from the same university I was attending at the time) But anyway, one of the roommates turned out to suffer from paranoid schizophrenia (which no one knew) and after I made dinner one night and asked him if he wanted any, he thought it had been a date. Over the next few months he completely fabricated an entire relationship with me (I was completely unaware that he thought I was his girlfriend) After a while he started getting very creepy and stalker-ish. He’d leave strange photos in my room under my pillow. He’d stand outside my door with a knife screaming. Then he’d buy several dozen Roses or slip a hundred dollar Bill under my door as a “sorry” (I didn’t take them) He was all over the place and really freaking me out. I went to the police station to try to get a restraining order and they told me they couldn’t give me one because he hadn’t actually hurt me yet or come right out and threatened me. I started staying with friends whenever I could because it’s terrifying living with your stalker. One day I came home and there were several cop cars and my other roommates were outside and stopped me from going in. Apparently, this kid had a psychotic break and was smashing, breaking and throwing things around the apartment because I was avoiding him and he was furious. He completely turned his affection against me and his made up relationship had turned into a story about how I was in cahoots with the people on the radio and television that were out to destroy him and he was yelling to the cops that I had stolen naked pictures of him and was blackmailing him (never happened) and he needed to Kill me. Thank God this happened while I was not in the apartment. I don’t know what would have happened if I had been home. It was terrifying. He was in a stand off with the police until they called his sister to come talk him down so they could arrest him and take him to a psychiatric hospital. Mental illness can be scary sometimes and that’s why it’s important to find help for yourself if you think something is wrong.
I have been married twice and I have decided I'm not dating again. I don't want to date right now anyways because I'm going through divorce number 2 right now, should be finalized this month. As a 43 year old woman I don't give a crap if I ever date again. If something comes along great, if not great. I'm so over dating, relationships, marriage, and all that crap. I have my dogs, my boys (who are grown), and friends which was more than enough to make me happy! I am happier now than I have been in a long time! I was married for 15 years and then married for 7 years, now it is time for me to enjoy life on my own!

Ladies most key fobs can be programmed to unlock just the driver door with the first push of the unlock button and then a 2nd push unlocks all doors. If yours is not programmed that way have a friend or dealership change the programming of it. Not just if you are dating but for day to day life, there are crazy people everywhere.
Often, no programming is required nor a trip to the dealership. Whip out that owner's manual and change that setting on the car yourself. It's usually in the infotainment screen (radio) or the LCD between the gages. The manual tells how to do that.
She should have called the police and give them the text messages. This was a clear cry for help from a mentally ill person. He isn’t safe to himself or others.

I'm thankful that the woman got out unscathed, but I hope that the man got the help that he needed in order to get his condition under control.
It is incredibly sad and heartbreaking to watch someone you care about suffer from schizophrenia. It's up there with Alzheimer's disease in my opinion. Perhaps even sadder. People who get Alzheimer's disease are at least usually in their golden years and towards the end of their life. Whereas people can start manifesting the signs of schizophrenia as young as their late teens or early twenties and there's currently no cure for either.

As a person diagnosed with it, yeah he definitely was unmedicated or undiagnosed. Initially i did refuse medication(over a decade ago) but once i spent time in the nut-house for doing something i literally do not remember, for 3 years, i was forced to take meds. And after so long of it i actually get scared of myself if i miss a scheduled dose.
Truth
Yeah my dad has schizophrenia. He ended up with a assault case because of his delusions . He was manic not making sense. Now he gets monthly injections because he doesn’t take his meds like he should - now that he is back on meds he has gained weight, is a lot healthier and what a difference. He hasn’t been in my life for 20plus years but it’s good to see him healthy as a human

If you don't mind me asking... it's my understanding that the disease causes unusual suspicion (paranoia) towards others. But does the person have a trusted someone, who is an exception? For example, if you are experiencing paranoia, could you call a parent or sibling, and KNOW that they are on your side, are acting in your best interest, and being totally honest with you, or does suspicion fall on everyone? Do life experiences make the disease better or worse? For instance, if you have someone betray you, does that reinforce your belief that no one can be trusted? Or if you doubted someone, and later on, you see evidence that they were consistently loyal, could that ease your mind the next time you have an episode*?

Worst date. After 3 days of talking, at the end of our first date she asked me for $40 so her son (she told me she didn't have kids) can go on a field trip and her son's father wouldn't have it until after the trip. Don't know if Jr. made that school trip.

Something happened to me recently like a few months back. I had befriended one of my coworkers who is a good man under a fair amount of stress. I won't mention his personal struggles, but I had recently seen an episode of Murder mystery cafe or something like that. Now, the one I had seen days prior is "He was killed by his best friend".
So here's the story: My coworker had asked me if I wanted to go cruising with him on the weekend. I said sure and where to. He said anywhere its just a to drive. He preferred somewhere where we can snack and chill. Out of the years I've known him he's never invited me anywhere to do anything. So I was already on high alert.
I kept sending texts and calls to my brother asking him "hey where was that spot where we would hang on the hill top looking out into the city?" My brother gave me the location. But I always made sure I mentioned to him who I was with.
Come back home and I told my brother that I was leaving a fucking crumb trail in case I went missing. His response; Oh Is that what you were doing???
That one episode alone was enough for me to basically slap clues onto my family's face.
It wouldn't hurt to send a pic of the guy you're with and the vehicle he's driving to a few close people. And let him know what you're doing. If he's offended, end the date right then and there.

Oh my god, I actually had a roommate in college (I was an idiot and found an apartment on Craigslist with an open room and 4 roommates from the same university I was attending at the time) But anyway, one of the roommates turned out to suffer from paranoid schizophrenia (which no one knew) and after I made dinner one night and asked him if he wanted any, he thought it had been a date. Over the next few months he completely fabricated an entire relationship with me (I was completely unaware that he thought I was his girlfriend) After a while he started getting very creepy and stalker-ish. He’d leave strange photos in my room under my pillow. He’d stand outside my door with a knife screaming. Then he’d buy several dozen Roses or slip a hundred dollar Bill under my door as a “sorry” (I didn’t take them) He was all over the place and really freaking me out. I went to the police station to try to get a restraining order and they told me they couldn’t give me one because he hadn’t actually hurt me yet or come right out and threatened me. I started staying with friends whenever I could because it’s terrifying living with your stalker. One day I came home and there were several cop cars and my other roommates were outside and stopped me from going in. Apparently, this kid had a psychotic break and was smashing, breaking and throwing things around the apartment because I was avoiding him and he was furious. He completely turned his affection against me and his made up relationship had turned into a story about how I was in cahoots with the people on the radio and television that were out to destroy him and he was yelling to the cops that I had stolen naked pictures of him and was blackmailing him (never happened) and he needed to Kill me. Thank God this happened while I was not in the apartment. I don’t know what would have happened if I had been home. It was terrifying. He was in a stand off with the police until they called his sister to come talk him down so they could arrest him and take him to a psychiatric hospital. Mental illness can be scary sometimes and that’s why it’s important to find help for yourself if you think something is wrong.
I have been married twice and I have decided I'm not dating again. I don't want to date right now anyways because I'm going through divorce number 2 right now, should be finalized this month. As a 43 year old woman I don't give a crap if I ever date again. If something comes along great, if not great. I'm so over dating, relationships, marriage, and all that crap.
I have my dogs, my boys (who are grown), and friends which was more than enough to make me happy! I am happier now than I have been in a long time! I was married for 15 years and then married for 7 years, now it is time for me to enjoy life on my own!

That "suicidal" date story hit home with me in that I have actually attempted suicide. Strange enough, I was offered dates, but I had to turn that down because my life was that much of a mess.
Ladies most key fobs can be programmed to unlock just the driver door with the first push of the unlock button and then a 2nd push unlocks all doors. If yours is not programmed that way have a friend or dealership change the programming of it. Not just if you are dating but for day to day life, there are crazy people everywhere.
Often, no programming is required nor a trip to the dealership. Whip out that owner's manual and change that setting on the car yourself. It's usually in the infotainment screen (radio) or the LCD between the gages. The manual tells how to do that.

But i know what that depression is like and what it can do to you mentally, physically, emotionally and to a greater extent financially. Before, I always got caught up in these relationships/Situationships. Perhaps as a means of gaining "happiness" or some form of "gratification". How wrong I was to think that but you live and you learn.
Being lonely sucks yes but I'm gonna continue doing right by me first before I put myself out there again. I've learnt too many lessons to be doing the same thing over and over again. Many guys in their 20's and 30's don't like to admit these facts.
