Also, Chugga, I don't know if you'll ever reply to this, but I'm willing to offer my list of the toughest opponents/best Pokemon for each Gen. Took hours of research and some personal experience but I think you'll find it useful for Gen 6 and beyond.

Its either the format or just the ease to follow along with your own playthrough. I still from time to time go back to the pokemon emerald walkthrough and compare and contrast what my team comp is compared to what he goes for. Its widely entertaining.

It has not been more than 10 minutes into the video and I can tell how much Emile loves this game with how much time and quality has been put into it with the side by side screens, speical editing (like the zoom cut on shadow rose) the RosaJohn cut. I know for the next few months, this lets play will be something great and I'm raring to go
Well there it is, 15 years ago I was watching his Fire Red LP and now I'm 25. This channel is probably the only remaining thing from my childhood that's still mostly the same and hasn't really changed. I haven't watched every LP, more or less stopped years ago, but it continues to exist as a constant of my life and always return for Pokemon. After this, every pixel art Pokemon game will be behind, and I'm afraid it will be another fragment of my childhood going away. The later games just aren't the same for me, new Pokemon content has long stopped being nostalgic. I don't know if I would enjoy watching content on X/Y and onward, even had trouble with keeping up on the Black & White LP, so this could be the last Chuggaaconroy LP for me and even feels like a strangely significant moment in my life. When watching Chugga years ago that was always a thought in the back of my mind, that this LP would come one day and something subtle in the world and my mind would change and not feel right after. Anyway it's not so dramatic, not having a breakdown right now, it just feels a little and surreal watching this in a way that caught me by surprise, about 10 min into this all sorts of old memories rushing back and some sort of a glow

One of the greatest things about the Lets Plays on this channel is how much painstaking detail and research is put into them, so I'm sure this playthrough will be one to remember! Absolutely love the contrast between Blaise and Typhoon, versus the boy’s name, “Torrent.” It’s such a fitting difference, especially when you add on the late game’s story developments.
This is shaping up to have some of the best production value we've seen in the history of this channel! There's just so many subtle edits that creates some really immersive storytelling and the attention to detail is already insane just from this first episode! This may be Emile's best LP ever if it continues at this level.

13:02 Changing the battle style to Set is such a good feature for players that want more of a challenge. I sure hope they don’t decide to remove it a decade later!
In addition to keeping Set, there's one other mode that would be a great middle ground, and that is having the choice to switch Pokemon after one is defeated, but not knowing the Pokemon the opponent is switching too, simulating having both bring out a mystery Pokemon at the same time.
The Pokemon game with the most worthwhile content, paired with the Let's Player who goes out of his way to show absolutely everything... a match made in heaven! I've been watching you do this since the FireRed days, and I couldn't be happier to see where this let's play goes.

Oh just wait... Gen 6 has Super Training. Super Trained Hariyama is the freaking World Breaker Hulk of my Omega Ruby team. Has (last I checked) 257 HP and it's not even lvl 100.
Watching him do Ōkami and Phantom Hourglass was cool, especially how deep his knowledge went on the Japanese mythology for Ōkami. He should do The Last Guardian next. I'd love to hear his comments on Trico.
Spoiler: Too bad these games sacrificed the narrative a little for the sake of large content. Kinda like with Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon in how it butchers the story of Sun & Moon.
@@jaretco6423 That I can very much appreciate, though I wish we (SPOILERS?) could've seen what the original dragon had looked like (the fusion of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem). I would say that Sun & Moon's story was clever. Lusamine is damn psychotic, it would make Ghetsis shake. And unlike most Pokemon villains, she actually has a reason for being evil. She lost her husband, her mind had been completely brainwashed by Nihilego (even its Pokedex entry is terrifyingly dark), and her children left her to complete loneliness despite the company of her employees. Guzma, despite not being a real villain, is also really clever too! I also like how Team Skull is meant to be comedic as an evil team. And Gladion is really good as a rival because you win his respect in the end. Hau is shit, moving on. I hate how USUM just does a complete 180° on what made the story of Sun & Moon so good. But if anything, at least it's not Pokemon Sword & Shield.

@@eclipses3131 You *do* realize it's deliberately revealed at the beginning of the game that Lusamine was injected by the infectious venom at the beginning of the game, right? And sure, Ghetsis may be evil and was willing to murder anything that stood in his path, but what makes him so interesting as a villain? Actually, in fact, these games ruined his whole character (SPOILERS (again). He went from being an evil manipulative mastermind - to some guy who just wants to freeze Unova with Kyurem which benefits absolutely NO ONE, NOT EVEN HIMSELF! In fact, his little "philosophy" of having everyone get rid of their Pokemon for his own was not so thought out well. You see, getting rid of your own Pokemon in the Pokemon Universe is...basically the equivalent of getting rid of any daily necessity for society. And trainers all around would just rise up against Ghetsis anyway, and Team Plasma basically just defaulted to Team Rocket near the end of Black & White 1 when he revealed their true plan. Ghetsis was just a psychotic, almost-one-dimensional moron of a villain; no backstory, no motivation - his plan was doomed to fail from the beginning. N was okay, I guess. But the first games constantly try to force the player in the right, no matter what or how they do things, and N in the wrong. At least villains like Giovanni and Lusamine had some sense.

When this game came out it’s what I call the official year my childhood ended since I moved away from family to a place that generally made my life way worse and made me a worse person because of it. This series is genuinely going to bring tears to me because not only are some of my family from that treasured part of my life gone. Chugga is using the Pokémon I used when I started my journey in this game as well. Thanks chugga for doin this series.

I did not expect that little intro credit sequence in there before Emile went to talking about the starters. For whatever reason it made me feel even more nostalgic because the images in it were from the promotional trailer for B2&W2 back then! Pokémon Black 2 is actually the only Pokémon game I've ever played... and as a dumb little kid I got stuck and couldn't progress lol, I still have it though, brought my DS to college just in case I wanted to crack it out again

All that effort into Rosalina cosplay for a small clip. Crazy how higher the production value is when compared the the old Pokémon Black and White LP of old.I'm also starting my Pokémon White 2 run and it does start slow af specially compared to the first one where you are thrust into the story really quick with you picking your Pokémon and having your first battle in your room 😂 The story of Black 2 and White 2 is definitely weaker than the first game but it makes up for it by having a TON of extra content. Plus the idea of seeing your old friends like Bianca and Cheren grow from being teens to young adults is crazy. It really helped that the original trio of the first game were 16 years old. I hated how they went back to being 10 year old in Gen 7.
Your pokemon lets plays have always felt like a massive event for some reason. I always find myself a little giddy when I'm about to start a new Episode 1. Guess that just goes to show the consistent quality of your videos! Can't wait to follow this journey along!

True. The most underrated in the franchise. Imo better than even Heartgold and Soulsilver, though one can argue those are the best pokemon games to date.
I do *not* want to start a flame war when I say this, but I think what's holding HGSS back from being the best is how unchanged the wild encounters and level curve are when those were aspects that could've used a little fixing for the remakes. Everything else about them is stellar, though!

I unfortunately skipped these games when they released thinking a direct sequel was weird at the time, but kept hearing how great it was some time later-I think outside of my nostalgia for Ruby, that was my favorite game. I’m glad I can experience White 2 vicariously through your LP now and what I’ve been missing.
I can't say enough how much I love BW2. So many welcome improvements from the originals, from more than just Unova Pokemon, lots of cool new features, an improvement in the music (at least I think so,) and so much more. This is shaping up to have some of the best production value we've seen in the history of this channel! There's just so many subtle edits that creates some really immersive storytelling and the attention to detail is already insane just from this first episode! This may be Emile's best LP ever if it continues at this level.

13:02 Changing the battle style to Set is such a good feature for players that want more of a challenge. I sure hope they don’t decide to remove it a decade later!

In addition to keeping Set, there's one other mode that would be a great middle ground, and that is having the choice to switch Pokemon after one is defeated, but not knowing the Pokemon the opponent is switching too, simulating having both bring out a mystery Pokemon at the same time.
The Pokemon game with the most worthwhile content, paired with the Let's Player who goes out of his way to show absolutely everything... a match made in heaven!

could've seen what the original dragon had looked like (the fusion of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem). I would say that Sun & Moon's story was clever. Lusamine is damn psychotic, it would make Ghetsis shake. And unlike most Pokemon villains, she actually has a reason for being evil. She lost her husband, her mind had been completely brainwashed by Nihilego (even its Pokedex entry is terrifyingly dark), and her children left her to complete loneliness despite the company of her employees. Guzma, despite not being a real villain, is also really clever too! I also like how Team Skull is meant to be comedic as an evil team. And Gladion is really good as a rival because you win his respect in the end. Hau is shit, moving on. I hate how USUM just does a complete 180° on what made the story of Sun & Moon so good. But if anything, at least it's not Pokemon Sword & Shield.

@@eclipses3131 You *do* realize it's deliberately revealed at the beginning of the game that Lusamine was injected by the infectious venom at the beginning of the game, right? And sure, Ghetsis may be evil and was willing to murder anything that stood in his path, but what makes him so interesting as a villain? Actually, in fact, these games ruined his whole character (SPOILERS (again).
He went from being an evil manipulative mastermind - to some guy who just wants to freeze Unova with Kyurem which benefits absolutely NO ONE, NOT EVEN HIMSELF! In fact, his little "philosophy" of having everyone get rid of their Pokemon for his own was not so thought out well. You see, getting rid of your own Pokemon in the Pokemon Universe is...basically the equivalent of getting rid of any daily necessity for society. And trainers all around would just rise up against Ghetsis anyway, and Team Plasma basically just defaulted to Team Rocket near the end of Black & White 1 when he revealed their true plan. Ghetsis was just a psychotic, almost-one-dimensional moron of a villain; no backstory, no motivation - his plan was doomed to fail from the beginning. N was okay, I guess. But the first games constantly try to force the player in the right, no matter what or how they do things, and N in the wrong. At least villains like Giovanni and Lusamine had some sense.
@@jaretco6423 The main problem with Team Plasma is how they just default to Team Rocket near the end of the story, as it was revealed by Ghetsis to take over the world.

When this game came out it’s what I call the official year my childhood ended since I moved away from family to a place that generally made my life way worse and made me a worse person because of it. This series is genuinely going to bring tears to me because not only are some of my family from that treasured part of my life gone. Chugga is using the Pokémon I used when I started my journey in this game as well. Thanks chugga for doin this series.

I did not expect that little intro credit sequence in there before Emile went to talking about the starters. For whatever reason it made me feel even more nostalgic because the images in it were from the promotional trailer for B2&W2 back then! Given the enthusiastic energy he displaying I know right away this series is going to be special!
I don't know why but I started tearing up as the little intro credit sequence. Maybe I'm just feeling a little more sensitive because irl stuff? Maybe it's the nostalgia factor? Maybe it's just that B2&W2 are a favorite? but this just feels...so so special. So hyped for this let's play.

It always feels so comfy to return to Chugga Pokemon, especially as someone who vividly remembers first watching Chugga when he was doing FireRed.
All that effort into Rosalina cosplay for a small clip. Crazy how higher the production value is when compared the the old Pokémon Black and White LP of old.I'm also starting my Pokémon White 2 run and it does start slow af specially compared to the first one where you are thrust into the story really quick with you picking your Pokémon and having your first battle in your room 😂
The story of Black 2 and White 2 is definitely weaker than the first game but it makes up for it by having a TON of extra content. Plus the idea of seeing your old friends like Bianca and Cheren grow from being teens to young adults is crazy. It really helped that the original trio of the first game were 16 years old. I hated how they went back to being 10 year old in Gen 7.

True. The most underrated in the franchise. Imo better than even Heartgold and Soulsilver, though one can argue those are the best pokemon games to date.
I do *not* want to start a flame war when I say this, but I think what's holding HGSS back from being the best is how unchanged the wild encounters and level curve are when those were aspects that could've used a little fixing for the remakes. Everything else about them is stellar, though!

I unfortunately skipped these games when they released thinking a direct sequel was weird at the time, but kept hearing how great it was some time later-I think outside of my nostalgia for Ruby, that was my favorite game. I’m glad I can experience White 2 vicariously through your LP now and what I’ve been missing.
I can't say enough how much I love BW2. So many welcome improvements from the originals, from more than just Unova Pokemon, lots of cool new features, an improvement in the music (at least I think so,) and so much more. And I'm sure there's plenty about these games I still don't know despite how much I've played them. And I decided to start a new file so I could play along and make those discoveries! Looking forward to another awesome adventure!
