AT NOBO 2024 - Mark Noepel Shelter (mi. 1590) to Stealth tent site (mi. 1610.9)

Mark Noepel Shelter (mi. 1590) to Stealth tent site (mi. 1610.9) A loooong but a good day. Started off with quite a climb to the summit of Mt. Greylock. There’s a lodge at the summit where we got some breakfast, then climbed to the top of the war memorial there. I got some great video/pictures of it. We then had quite a descent to the town of N. Adams, MA where some pretty good trail magic awaited so we didn’t even bother going to a store or restaurant. From there we had another pretty hefty climb out of the city that passed the 1600 mile marker so that was cool. We went another 3 miles or so and crossed from Massachusetts into Vermont. 11 states down, 3 to go 🙌🏻
We decided to go a couple more miles then we had planned on to get closer to Bennington, VT for tomorrow. They are doing a “trail days” there and will be putting on a big hiker feed. Bennington is a ways off the trail but they will have shuttles taking hikers into town from 11 am to 1 pm … we hope to hike a fast 7 miles in the morning and be there for the 11 am shuttle. Along the way to our stealth site we passed a dirt road and I heard someone yell “hey Sloggy”, I was like WTH! It was Stump Knocker whom I had met and hiked with for a bit about 5 or so weeks ago in Virginia. He through hiked the AT in 2002 and is sectioning it this year. We were both very excited to see each other again. I had mentioned him in one of my videos you may recall. Climbing stats for the day: 20.9 miles hiked, total ascent 4,723.8 feet, total descent 4,980.3 feet. No wonder I’m tired 😂
Todays menu: A devil dog, an energy bay, yogurt covered almonds, breakfast sandwich, yogurt with fresh fruit, small thing of Pringles, 2 honey stinger waffles, a few freeze dried strawberries, a bottle of orange juice, small can of Diet Coke, crunchy granola bar, 4 Oreo cookies, Gatorade protein bar, a protein sweet roll, a small bag of gummy bears, and water with Liquid IV powder.
