Saw this movie again on the big screen with a close friend when it was re-released for the 100th anniversary of the sinking, & this opening clip still sent chills down my spine even though I had seen it several times.
In 1997, I was 14 when my father and I went to see the movie. Lights put of, silence in the audience, the movie started. And appeared both Sissel's wonderful, tragic voice and these poignant and beautiful sepia-toned images (I love it) of people saying goodbye to their families, hoping for a better future, ignoring what their fate was going to be. When I saw this scene, I knew this movie was not like others.

Oh dear God, what an incredible, intensely nostalgic opening scene for this movie. Just this one opening scene captures in essence the entire drama that we're about to see. Slow-motion camera, sepia-coloured memories, the views of the TITANIC leaving Southampton, people waving good-bye, the extraordinarily captivating soundtrack, my goodness! A genuine work of art.
James Horner surely was a legend and a genius for the score of Titanic. Sissel's voice gives me the goosebumps. RIP James Horner. Thank you James Cameron for bringing Horner in for the score.

Because back in my days i had my dreamgirl, we saw titanic a lot and we even called it "our movie"...Everybody probably has their own sad titanic story to relate to...but that love was the biggest thing i've ever felt in my whole life, and im quite old today, and still yet i think of my "Rose" and I exploring the world and its treasures..'cause after all, she was my first, best and most beautiful thing i've ever had.

I wish I could erase the memory of when I watched this so I could experience it for the first time all over again. I have never seen a film like this. At the end of those three hours, I felt as though I was just punched in the stomach, my emotions were flying everywhere and I felt drained. I couldn’t even drive a mile to the gym an hour later
Just watched the 3D re-release at theater today! I cried so much because never experienced this movie in theater always from TV or phone, watching the movie in theater giving me different feelings of sorrow especially the BGM 😭 😭

The three ships of the Olympic-class were supposed to finally win the Atlantic passenger ferry race for the White Star Line but only one of them would actually complete an Atlantic crossing in its intended role. Quite sad really.
