2 Questions 📌Love your video but I don’t have a saw to cut the slot for the panels so how can I accomplish this another way? 📌how much did that project cost about to create?
For the pipe and the panel it’s $50. If you can find white pvc that size it could bring the price down to $40. Home Depot has saws that customers can use in the trim aisle. I’d “borrow” a scroll saw to make the two final cuts in the pipe.
There are links to the materials in the description. The prices fluctuate based on supply. If you don’t have a saw you can actually make the two big cuts using the saw most home improvement stores provide in the baseboard and moldings aisle. Then to get the short cuts you could either “borrow” a hand scroll saw or you can drill a series of holes across and it’ll break free. Use a file to cleanup the edge.
I looked for a pre manufactured solution, but nothing was suitable.. this is really easy to work with and made exactly what I wanted; a wall to put acoustic panels on that I can move out the way when not in use

3 weeks ago I watched your video and wanted to come back and let you know that I made this diy divider. It was so easy! It looks Great in the space and it cost me less then $25 to make. Thanks for the video
This is pretty much how V-flats were invented. Someone got the bright idea to tape 2 "48 x 96" inch foamboards together and voila, V-flats. And now, you can't get them for less than $150 per board. I created my own system with 1 inch PVC Pipe, and I can change the fabric or surface to whatever I want. Basically 2 "48 x 96" Scrim frames with changeable fabrics. But I do love this idea as well. Thank You!
Just made a complete wall using white bifold doors and black pvc pipe. It is gorgeous! It folds and moves really well and we use in our 40 foot room to create different spaces. We are going to make another one so we can create 3 rooms in one. Great for visitors, craft areas, photo space, and whatever!!! Love it and got the idea from you! It is also very sturdy - you wouldn't think so but it really is!
This will reduce my cost for my next rental home .Instead of looking for a 4 bedroom I can look for a 3 bedroom and divide 1 of the rooms .Thanks this is awesome ready to move now lol
You're a blessing! I was getting ready to spend way too much money for a divider to use for my daughter's online school. I also work from home and both our desk are in the same office. I needed something modern looking, but not overly expensive to create some privacy. This is an excellent idea. Just placed an order for all the materials and will be putting together this weekend! Thanks so much!!

OH My this is the best. Thank you for sharing, I have been looking for months for a way to divide a room, I rent so did not want to drill walls. THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks for this video. I needed a way to separate my sons double wall to wall closet because he was using one side as an office. I decided to use tacky glue spray instead of the white glue roll on. Local HD didn’t have the VPC pipe so I found room divider feet online for about $20 (same as the price of the pipe without the cutting and painting work.
This is brilliant! THANK YOU! I’m temporarily going to be living in a living room in a rental. I had no idea how I was going to create a door. This is easy enough for even me!! I can also even cut a doggie door at the bottom for my dog to go in and out of the room! 😁
Perfect!!! I am moving to a one bedroom condo and want to turn the dining room into a guest bedroom/den for when my daughter has breaks from college. This is perfect and something I can actually manage to make. I love the fabric idea. I can set the moveable walls against the back real walls as decor when not being used and set them up as needed walls to close off the room when she is home and needs her own own space. Thank you for this idea!!!
Omg you just solved my problem. I live in an apartment and I wanted to kinda separate the living room from the kitchen area and this is perfect I don't have to buy wood, nail gun and such. This is so much easier and I can decorate both sides of the wall thank you!!!!
This is exactly what I was looking for - a cheap way to make a room divider. Everything else I looked at was costing over a hundred dollars, and in one case, over a grand. I just wanted something simple - insulation paneling! Damn, that's smart.
My son & his 3 kids will temporarily be moving in with me & I need to separate off areas for the boys. This is going to be the easiest way to do it. I can't thank you enough!!
I needed to close off a door space for noise and light reduction and your DIY solution is the absolutely best I have seen...truly ingenious as well as artistic....
I’m currently in the process of doing this . I got pvc instead of abs since my store didn’t have any. It was a little more expensive but I’ll be making a video of the struggles I had with making this. It seems simple but there were some challenges.
Gonna try this version of a room divider though it's not for a room. I like to work in my garage but I don't have a garage door. Was thinking drop cloths hung on the over head beam but the wind would just keep blowing them. I think this would work but I am gonna double the planks to make it a little more sturdy for the outdoors. Therefore I'm gonna make a 2" cut out in the longer cut pipe. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for the superb idea.
DUUUUUUDE!!! This is freaking awesome!! I have been looking for an inexpensive way to create a room divider for a makeshift temporary home office during COVID. THANK YOU!!!

This is FANTASTIC, thank you so much. I was looking to make a "DIY wall" of sorts and I assumed it just wasn't that simple (for me). This is perfect and exactly what I was looking for.. And less than 3 minutes to explain the process. Thank you.
ABS Pipe?! 🤯Brilliant dude! Thank you so much for that awesome idea! I was going to buy all this extra wood to attach to my acoustic DIY panels, but this is a FAR better idea! Genius man, for real! Thank you!
YOU ARE GENIUS. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm not yelling. I'm just so excited. I have looked all over for a not so permanent solution to separate my fomal dining and living rooms. Without creating damage to the walls if and when we ever want to resale. This helps me make my formal into an extra bedroom and office and playroom. Now I'm curious if I could cut it out and make it into a door. If you have any tips or could you do a video with same materials and a door. Doesn't have to lock.
This seller ships this item very carefully to ensure that your room divider th-cam.com/users/postUgkxWv_wTHyTRVm0QkcOw1Rz2-5g_gDoRTkU is not damaged in transit. They even place stickers saying glass, handle with care. I originally bought a 4 panel room divider, but after receiving it I knew I needed larger for the area I was trying to hide. I wanted a 6 panel, but it was not offered in the Espresso color that I wanted, so I went with 5 panels. This is serving my purpose very well on hiding my dog's pee pads. I ended up using the 4 panel one in a corner behind my Christmas tree. The best thing is you do not have to put anything together, you just take it carefully out of the box and place it where you want it. It can be moved around very easily. Plus, these dividers start at the floor, so nothing is seen moving around on the other side like some other dividers I looked into. Now that I have a 4 and 5 panel one, I am sure that I can get them to overlap and work other ways should I need to in the future.
I love you 🙈🙈😅😅😅 i was looking desperately for easiest way to make a simple partition without cutting and drilling and suddenly found yours. It is brilliant Thank you so much
This is so cool, I love making things and my daughter is goin off to college and will be in a dorm with 5 other girls and I want to do something for privacy for her. Thanks!
FINALLYYYYYYYYY!! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m going to do this!!! Question: Does Home Depot or any other home improvement store cut the pipes for you? I don’t have the tools.
Love, love , love this! I will use the panel idea, but because my grandson is 3 he may knock these over , so I’ll suspend from the ceiling and anchor somehow to floor. Thanks for your video!
I love how you built this room divider. It's simple and functional. Please can you tell me where to go to get this kind of material you used in the construction of this one in the video? Thanks
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for taking the time to film, edit, and post this!!!!! So helpful. I know how annoying it can be to worry about filming when you’re making something but this is really helpful. Thanks!
wow , to think i was about to spend a months worth of work in some room dividers at home depot smh 🙅♂️ you saved me alot of money and time thanks bro deff subscribing to you immediately, will be looking forward to watchjng the rest of your videos
I know I'm late but this is great! I wanted to find a way to section off my cat's corner.. yes the lil brat has her own section. I don't think she'll bother with it either but it will be nice for her. Tfs!
Can this concept work for an outside apartment balcony? I need to come up with something to block the sun and smoke from our downstair neighbor's barbecue grilling. Great video.
I am looking for a way to create a DIY room divider using translucent/colored polycarbonate corrugated roofing sheets as these are decorative and beautiful. I am unclear if using similar pipe with channel cut would work. Curious to get your idea about this.
That is an interesting idea. It should look cool but rigid surfaces will actually make the sound bounce around more in the space. It may keep the sound on one side to some degree. If I were you I’d find a long short skinny tray and pour some porcelain mixture into it and position the panel in the tray and mixture. Once dried it should be a heavy enough footing to keep it standing. If it’s still to tipsy, use a taller tray and add more porcelain.
Thank you for this inexpensive dyi video. I need to make some of these to create an extra bedroom space in my extra large living room area and this helps me a lot to keep it simple, inexpensive and quick to make. Great video.
Thank you for your DIY Brain. Seriously. This is an amazing idea that defeats the expense of a the VFlat that stared at about $50 about 10 yrs ago, which are now upward of $350: for 2 Foam Boards 48" x 96" x 1/2 ". @ $175. each. The VFlat world has run a muck with their Foam Board Prices. You have any suggestions for a good White Reflective surface?
The panels usually have a shiny metallic surface on one side to reduce radiant heat, but it functions beautifully as a reflector especially if you need to brighten up something big like a group photo. If you need it to just be white maybe apply some white fabric or backdrop paper using the technique in this video.
I can't thank you enough for sharing this amazing idea with all of us🤗 It's extremely easg to make plus so effective. Hands down by far the BEST dyi room divider video out there! Thank you again for showing me and everyone else this wonderful idea
This is a super awesome DIY video! I built my first one, I have the material for 3 more. But first one has a pretty significant lean towards the top. Any suggestions on how to fix?
Great idea. I'm trying to separate out the family room as an office for myself, but the opening to the room is coming from a circular foyer, so putting in a door would look ugly. Going to try this out. Question: The ABS pipe comes in 2 ft lengths - did you cut it in half and use 1ft on both sides of the wall? Or did you use 2 2ft pipes? Thanks for your help.
Their are two types of foam panels, the yellowish foam is more dense and sturdier (used in video). There is also white foam board that is lighter weight but might not stand up perfectly straight. Both panels are pretty light, in addition if they were to be pushed over, they displace so much air that the fall rather slowly.
DIWHY.LIFE Awesome! Thank you. You saved us what could’ve been thousands! Genius! Just need a private area created to sleep in a large sunroom 😊 Thanks a mil!
Thanks this is great. With the college's closing, I have my wife and two girls home all on video conferences for work and school. The dividers will provide some sanity into our home. Thanks and Stay Safe!!

I spent 8 hours today online looking for the cheapest and easiest way to make a room divider. This tops them all! You made my day!
exactly
Spending 8 hours doing that essentially means you saved 0 dollars by doing a DIY instead of buying a manufactured partition.
I looked for a pre manufactured solution, but nothing was suitable.. this is really easy to work with and made exactly what I wanted; a wall to put acoustic panels on that I can move out the way when not in use

Hi Joseph, thanks! Yes, I cut the 2 ft pipe in half to get (2) 1 ft feet.
@@DIWHYDOTLIFE EXACTLY what I needed to know! Thanks...this is great!
What’s the lightest panels that will work? This is Great. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I’m concerned about grand kids pushing it over.
