I bougt mine yaqin mc-84-L used with already installed old russian el84 tubes and also better 12ax7 psvane art s tubes. Its my first tube amp. In my opinion its a good and very nice tube amp. With this amp i heard for the first time what is transparency, soundstage and singer standing in front of you. Incedidle midrange and vocal but for my taste not enought bass. But with acoustic music it can make magic…
I would agree with the lack of bass - especially at low volume. With it turned up a bit the sound starts to get better, but I still prefer some type of tone control.
Update: After adding to my system a streamer with DAC (wiim pro plus) the gain and sound quality improved significantly. I use Tidal. Also tube rolling can make magic. El84 tubes has less impact but changing the ecc83 (12ax7) tubes can change everything. I tried more brands like vintage gold pin Tesla E83CC, vintage Siemens ECC83, and the holy grail - NOS 1962’s Telefunken ECC83 diamond ribbed plate. Just wow… strong deep bass, excelent middle. Guitar is guitar
From what I can find, the sensitivity is 96db. I haven’t run through enough tube gear to even start to distinguish between the different tubes…I just know what I like and what I don’t :)
It doesn't have tone controls because its just a power amplifier so that cant be a negative. Its only job is to amplify what you put into it so you will learn that with any power amp you should use a preamp with tone controls to adjust to your liking.
@millervintagehifi3034 it's just a cheap selling point and to idiot proof it, can you imagine how many people would plug in a music source without adding a volume control online and then they have max output only that is distorted and possibly destroy some speakers. Not good for business, a 5 dollar potentiometer makes a lot more sense this way even people new to audio that don't have a proper preamp can at least listening to the music with whatever source.
I run all of my gear in the gym through the echo dot and listen daily…A/B comparison for the most part. This amp did not sound as good as other gear I use.
Yah there is .... Tubes are simple devices and well outdated. These Chinese Amps with some better tubes already outperform most of the old overrated stupid stuff that's being sold at nostalgia prices.
@@MichelLinschoten Outdated for every application except audio amplification. Its hard for me to have any respect for a manufacturers product that gets to you with the worst tubes on the planet. I would prefer tubes not included at all so the first impression isnt of price point. The good sounding Chinese stuff is not cheap. They could include a free amp with every amp and still make a tidy profit with the entry level stuff. If nostalgia is what is driving your interest you are financially doomed from the jump.
you need speakers upwards of 95db efficiency for these amps, and with 15 inch woofers...tekton perfect set 15, cerwin vega xls15, klipsch cornwall.
We were running them through some Leak Sandwich speakers and tried some Klipsch Forte IIs. Sounded better with Klipsch.

Check out the ASR review, it's very impressive.

@@r423fplip can you add a link?
The tip on burn in is spot on. Speaker selection is key. What is the efficiency of the speakers? Personally I prefer EL34 tone over the 84's

It's now been reviewed on Audio science review. Very impressive !

Why a volume control and multiple inputs? That’s an integrated amp and not a power amp in my book.

@millervintagehifi3034 and integrated amp actually means a amp and preamp in one unit, this is just a power amplifier with a volume control.
I dislike this unit even more now...
How can you even judge audio quality from any amp by running it through an echo dot???? Also, many (most?) high end amps don't have tone controls.

You're going to want to give it at least a hundred hours for the tubes to break-in. You can add a loudness contour via EQ from your streamer.
Thanks for the tip!
Hi can use EL84?
Specs can be found online.
There are no budget ways to tube audio satisfaction.
I suppose not.
