Mossend Rail Freight Depot & Yard in Central Scotland..!

See aerial views of this sprawling site in the Eurocentral area of Scotland. Plenty of class 90 AC electric locos onsite awaiting their next mission!
This site is the main rail freight depot for Scotland with multiple daily services headed to this site daily - Particularly from Tesco in Daventry with DRS and DB operated services.
A Colas Rail test train is stabled onsite also - With Class 37 locos in top & tail formation.
Also see Royal Mail and Varamis Rail multiple units stabled on the depot in addition to the above.

9 x 90's...must have been a weekend. Some great views of Mossend. Remember being there in the very early 90s seeing some proper traction back then.

Great footage of a once greater place. Reduced traffic and vastly reduced track layout. I used to stand beside the old control building that has since been flattened. You can still see the base of the building beside the 90s. And it was once all sidings where the container yard is now.

I was only last week watching some 1980’s vids of Mossend Yard on You tube. Triple header 37’s pulling out with heavy coal trains. I know all freight yards look very different (that’s if they still exist) nowadays but it’s still a shock to see such a reduction in tracks. 😢

Quite often go up to the FL stabling point the car (the car pen at the sign on point is still a public road. Always good to see some 90s

Great video. I was last there in 1990 when triple headed 37’s thrashed out on loaded MGR!
Just curious though why you didn’t go to far end of yard, I think that’s where you used to be able to park up, and where I photographed the 37’s.
And finally, noticed all the 90’s are facing the same way (looking at the pantograph layout on the roof) - that can’t be a coincidence can it?! 🤔
