@@marmyeater In fact it is, but canine species are much more closely related than bears or felines. The domestic dog can and has bred with wolves to create hybrids and new dog breeds on several occasions, and evidently the possibility is there for coyotes to do the same.

Ravens and crows are great problem solvers with memory like elephants were they'll remember someone forever and are very social and will spread knowledge like who the human assholes are, who killed their grandmother or who will feed them. Creepy knowledge and probably why they call a flock a murder of crows.
I can’t pin point exactly why but it’s always creepy as hell to me when a creature can mimic human language and repeat words but doesn’t know the meaning/implication of them. Like they can’t understand what our words mean but just know it’s a noise we make. Reminds me of how some predators can mimic sounds of prey animals but the question linked to that is why does that trigger our fight or flight response?
At what point did people have to encounter something predatory that could mimic us to the point avoiding it became instinctual?(unless instinct is just that broad and anything vaguely amiss in communication like that triggers it)
Then you should learn about the lyrebird because not only can it mimic voices but also sounds like camera shutters and chainsaws
It triggers the "uncanny valley-effect". It always happens when we see/ hear something vaguely familiar, but something about it doesn't seem right. Our instinct tells us to be wary of the unknown, because the risk taken in investigating it is usually way higher than the possible reward.
When You realize the demon calling You into the woods is just a crow mimicking Your family member.
I personally don't believe in this theory, but the horror lover in me likes it a lot; Basically the theory goes that humanity has developed this fear over vaguely humanoid creatures and sounds, the uncanny valley, because there was at one point a predator who could mimic us and use these tactics to hunt us down, which has lead to us developing this survival instinct over time, this 'ability' to identify humans from things that try to be human.
Very creepy stuff, pretty obviously not based in reality, but it makes for good sci-fi horror.
tigers can mimic sounds of their prey. I dont know if they can mimic humans or not but considering they can mimic other animals I think its a possibility.

Y'all worried about crows like taking over the world in the future but you're ignoring very crucial piece of information and that's what they remember things and pass them down to their children. So like all you got to do is be very nice to them and they going to remember that generations down the line, so in the future when they start to take over and get really smart they'll at least recognize your family line as crow homies and leave you alone. I for one see a fruitful relationship in our future if we start treating these fellas right.

Wow that part about ravens talking is super creepy, makes me wonder if those skinwalker story's about people hearing distinct voices trying to lure them deep into the forest is actually just some group of crows trolling them.
The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is a story about a talking raven written in 1845 so human have know about talking raven for awhile now
I can't believe I just realized this but I think it's funny how Wolves and Ravens have a Symbiotic relationship. And in Nordic/Scandinavian mythology, Odin has two Ravens(Huginn and Muninn ), and during Ragnarok Odin is eaten my a Wolf(Fenrir[I believe his name is longer and I'm definitely gonna misspell it]). Not important just something I find funny and ironic.
Odin also had 2 pet wolves. Wolves are a dime a dozen in Norse legends, and Fenrir is just one of them.

about 3 years ago I yelled at baby crows to get out of the parking lot at a beach and stop trying to eat rocks when the mom started cawing at me and moving her head around like she was chewing me out for yelling at her kids animals are much smarter than people think when I was in my early 20s my mom had a cockatoo that for some reason kept reaching out of his cage and pinching my butt while I was on the computer and his pinch for some reason felt like he might have been chewing on my butt pocket buttons so I yelled stop biting my butt he puffed up pointed his toes at me and started making his bird noises while pacing back and forth the very next day he escaped his cage and bit my butt for real as if to say here since you accused me of it let me help you not be a liar.... I freaking love how your mind works

You might think it's crazy, but before ants underground colony wereba thing, there already was, people roleplaying as ants on facebook
abbout crows, once i've saw a dude who teached a few crows to ask for food, like, he usually would feed the crows who lived nearby his house, and he teached them that, if they said "more", they would recieve more food, because they overheard his wife telling him to give them "more", so everytime they said "more", he would give them more food than ussual, and also, there's another case as well, abbout a dog who learned to buy things at a store with leaves, because he had seen people using paper to trade for food, so once he came to the store (that if i'm not mistaken it was inside an university or school) with a leaf on his mouth, expecting it to be worth it of a treat, and well, the shop clerk found it to be cute and smart of him, and since this day he stops by the shop with a leave every day to get his daily treat
