- Excited to share this one with you as so golfers struggle with their driver due to unintentionally cutting or chopping across the golf ball upon impact, i'm sure some of you can relate. This issue can have a significant impact, leading to unwanted side spin that sends the ball off course robbing you of the crucial distance that's essential for an enjoyable game.
In the following video I share three simple yet effective pieces of advice. These tips aim to guide you in achieving a more inside-out swing, which not only helps you regain that lost distance but also provides you with enhanced control to hit straighter tee shots
If you often find yourself struggling with the driver, with the unsettling feeling that it might impact your overall performance, there's a great chance that this video holds the key you need. It could be just the solution to help you start consistently hitting straighter, longer drives, making your golfing experience all the more enjoyable, and who doesn't want that!!

The best explanation of swinging from the inside that I’ve ever seen and heard. Brilliant job sir.
Once again brilliant. Lesson and production.
yes by far the best explanation ever!!
This is by far the best video I've ever watched... ever. I can't express how much I needed to watch this for my driver swing. That drill with the stick on the wall is absolutely gold. Thank you so much.
Instant like just for the Street Fighter “perfect!” after that stellar intro shot🤘😆
The visual of what happens with driver when you just push the arms down was really helpful. I’m pretty sure I am doing that (really need video) which, as you show, makes it impossible to achieve the desired result.
EXCELLENT video and the driver drills are exactly what I need. Thank you!
One of your best yet Chris!! Very relatable and relatively easy to quickly put into application, for both irons and driver. Particularly for someone who's had a gnawing over the top component. Really appreciate all you do!
Very helpful video Chris. It has helped me play much tidier in last 2 rounds. Both driver and irons. Thanks
Really great video! I'm a nooby and played my first ever 18 yesterday and was on some occasions hitting the ground with the irons , hopefully this will helps me moving forward! Thanks 👏
One of my perennial swing thoughts with the driver. Slow on the backswing....and make sure I come down on the inside....just like every other club. When I do that, it's almost always a nice straight long shot. If I don't swing on the inside, it not only pulls the ball. It also keeps the club shallow and not swinging upwards much....and results in either a worm burner...or something that just does not get any real loft.
Nice one. Thanks Chris.
Brilliant video. Can't wait to get to the range to test this out. Thanks as always!!
Really helpful lesson, thanks
Always top notch videos Chris, thanks for the effort you put out
Nice one, Chris - been hitting Driver awful Irons not bad. Had lesson today, my grip had got a bit weak so strengthened Grip and my pro’ got me doing exactly the drill you’re showing here ! Also saying turn right pocket behind you on backswing.
Made half decent fist of it but going to need lot of practice as totally new movement
Cheers
Ken 👍
Really sound golf advice 👏🏻
Some great tips here , I think understanding low point is key!
This has changed my whole game
Shot 75 76 this weekend
Trouble club was driver
Not any more
I’ve found as well tuck a score card under your left arm pit
Do not let the card drop
It keeps you on a perfect line for hitting on the inside
Thanks again
Thanks again
Good tips chris, especially positioning driver 2-3 inches behind ball at address has helped me enormously. Another tip that works for me is where i focus on the ball, driver i focus on a spot back of ball, irons i focus on front of ball or even 1-2 inches of the ground ahead of ball, takes getting used to but both of these tips helps me deliver the low point needed. Keep up the good work !
Yeah love that, looking at various places is so powerful, probably should have added that into the vid
I am very similar, driver,3w & 5w i pick a spot a ball width behind & stare at that spot. My irons it's actually a club head width infront
Great help
Brilliant as usual no surprises here thank you
Wow! Great drills, thanks Chris
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great lesson! Thanks for covering Driver and Irons. 👍
Thanks for watching, let me know if it helps
Great drills
This was really great for me!! On video I went from a steep shaft to something that looks much better. I did start hitting hooks though until I corrected to put some width on my follow through and not folding the left arm and then I was hitting consistent draws that started right and came left. Only downside is I lost maybe 15ft of distance on an 8 iron so I hope that comes back with more practice.
My instructor had me practice hooking the ball. Wanted me to be able to do it consistently with every club. Once I was able to achieve that, he had me adjust just a bit and I was hitting pure, straight shots in about 20 minutes. Argument being that the hook is MUCH easier to correct once your swing is in alignment. So do not fear the draw or hook. Once that was consistent then he had me start whipping the club during my downswing. Trust me when I say, your distance will come back with a vengeance. You will be amazed.
Great drills Chris, they worked perfectly for me, really good thanks 👍🏻
My pleasure, glad they helped
Nice one Chris 👍 😊
Thanks Roy
Good video
lovely video, will rip a wall apart tomorrow at the range!
This is a good one. Is it normal when trying to get the grip above my heels that my left arm feels much more across my chest?
Just picked up my clubs after 11 months out, used to be such a good driver of the ball, but now I’m slicing like never before, but i don’t know what I’m doing different. How do i get in touch
Thanks Chris with that shift I think my iron play will improve 👍
100% it will, strike should be a lot better!
Issue I have chris is that I can do the back swing, can do the downswing but I cant get the clubface square at impact. It stays open and go high right. I assume I am turning my upper body too early?
I put the logo at 7'o'clock and try to tee up in front of a divot or different colour grass or something which becomes the "low" point
@ChrisRyanGolf, I went out and played a round today. My short game and irons is great, but my driver and woods send me out of bounds or at least in trouble nearly every time. Should I just leave them out of the bag? I'm seriously ready to give up golf 😢
Get the grip above your heel, is it the same for iron?
So with the iron needing a lateral movement does that mean the drivers doesn’t
Been having problems lately with in to out swing path, or attempting in to out path, and push straight right or snap hooks left
I hit from the inside, now i have a hook.
Give up - it looks too difficult with many moving parts
