    I just ordered the SW380T on your and so many other recommendations. What would it take to use this in the camera port? Thank you and great web and videos.

    You have one lens on your phone which makes a big difference. With three lenses on the one phone, the lens won’t sit flush.

    How can one use this for a Trinocular eye tube? Any extra lense required? This will help undisturbed operation on the main (2) Eyepeices.

    Hi Microbe hunter, thanks for the video. Can I ask for your suggestion for ways to remove the wasted black space around the image of the microscope? I know that we can zoom in the image, but I would prefer to change the optical characteristics of the eyepiece to fill the whole sensor so that this area is not wasted. I suspect you would require a widefield, ultra-low eye relief eyepiece, but I don't know if these exist. Is there any thing you can recommend in terms of eyepieces to use the sensor space effectively?

      Oliver, you mention that it would make sense to get a dedicated eyepiece for this. If I were to want to use this with my Trinocular mount on the 380T, would a WF10x 25mm eyepiece be superior to the more prevalent WF10x 18mm? Or do you have a suggestion for an even more appropriate eyepiece? Thank you for your help!

    I tried 3 times to order one of the Swift adapters from both Amazon and eBay. Three times I was sent what seemed to be a child's microscope slide prep kit (shipped from Amazon "as a gift" which is the latest hustle). Swift had mislabeled the code on the boxes and apparently no person ever looks at the pictures or title on the box. I finally gave up. Still looking for a decent adapter, but have stopped dealing with Amazon because there were more returns than keepers and since nearly everything now ships from Amazon no matter where you order from, I guess I will never have one.

    • @thesuburbanelectric
      @thesuburbanelectric 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swift sells these through eBay as well.

      @@thesuburbanelectric Swift had apparently mislabeled the boxes on all of them. Just finally got my money back from eBay Friday after a struggle. Ordered a Gorsky but don't have it yet either!

    • @joser9237
      @joser9237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you let Amazon know that the boxes have the wrong code on them, they'll likely get it fixed. The workers at the warehouse either don't care or can't tell them apart, all they see is that the boxes match their code and that's that. Their returns side will inspect them for mismatches but it might take a while for them to set it up properly.

    I'm new to microscopes, but I want to take video and photos of tardigrades. I plan on getting this adapter for my phone and the Swift 350T microscope, do you think it is a good choice to give a good image? I worry about maybe the LED not being bright enough or not being able to focus well.

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The image does not depend on the adapter, but on the mobile phone (and microscope optics). Yes the image will be good enough and the LED will be bright. If you already have the microscope, then you can hold the phone in front of the eyepiece to see how the image looks like.

    Dealing with Swift is a nightmare, asking for additional funds for postage via eBay then cancelling the order, refusing to send the product in the end. Don’t trust them, shame as it looks like it would do the job but much more expensive than the alternatives, crappy support and shameful business practice. I’m surprised you still recommend it Oliver.

    Hi I recently purchased a Swift 380B( your reccomandation) and it has a D28, diameter of the eyepiece but my phone has a duel camera(iphone X) do you think this adapter would work?

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to place the adapter right over the correct camera lens that you want to use. Once the adapter is connected, you can not switch back and fourth between the cameras. You have to choose the camera first, get it set up and then you can only use this camera. If you want to use the other camera, then you have to readjust the adapter. Something that does not work is to have both cameras look through the eyepiece at the same time and that you can then select the camera. The camera you want to use has to be centered exactly and then the other camera is not used. Try both cameras which one gives the best result.

    Thank you for helping to revive a hobby I had over 40 years ago Oliver! Question for you about getting a dedicated eyepiece for this device, to save me some experimentation time and money. I'm planning to buy a trinocular scope with both 10x and 25x eyepieces. Given that the camera has zoom, for the best experience when using it while also viewing through the other tubes, do you recommend sticking with low magnification (10x), or matching the photo tube with what I'm currently using in the other tubes? Is it workable to mix, for example using 10x with the camera while using 25x in the other tubes?

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course you can mix and use 25x for the camera. Often the camera and the eyepieces do not show the same field of view anyway and for focusing one should then use the camera anyway to get the best image quality. But I think that lining up the camera with a high magnifying eyepiece is more difficult. Try it out. Some high magnifying Eyepieces have a small eye relief and therefore it is not possible to move the camera very close (adapter won't allow it). So much depends on the individual eyepiece.

    I bought one to use on my Leitz orthoplan and my iphone SE. Alas, it does not work. I can only use 1 Volt. If using more, I only see a very bright white blob. And it seems that I cannot get the camera close enough to the eyepiece (I have the eyepiece pushed in all the way down the adapter).

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try to hold the camera in front of the eyepiece without the adapter and then change the distance. It depends on your eyepiece, but sometimes you have to hold the camera further away from the eyepiece (if the eyepiece has a long eye relief). Put your left hand around the eyepiece and rest the phone on your hand for support.
