    Lesotho: my home and forever in my heart. Honestly the best place to grow up. I have nothing but happy memories. As beautiful as the land is, it’s the Basotho people who make it seem magical. My first attempt to ski without a single lesson was a nightmare and I was lucky not to break a leg with all the heavy falls I took. Then I discovered a place in town that taught ski lessons on an indoor sloped conveyor belt. After a few weeks of lessons delving into the art and science of the perfect carved turn, the need to drive my arm forward after each pole plant so my shoulder stayed square to the slope, and most importantly of all, the emergency stop, I was ready for another try at the slopes of Magic Mountain, Wrightwood California. With no lift lines to interrupt those indoor lessons, progress had come quickly.
    Hearing GBTA describing the euphoria of snow skiing for the first time after missing out on the experience back in Colorado, I was immediately taken back in time to the first time after completing those indoor ski lessons when I disembarked from the chair-lift at sunset for a night of skiing under the floodlights. Whether in Europe, The Americas, or even Africa, every human being of sound mind and body should be required by law to ski at least once in their lives, and then of course many more times if they approve of the experience.

    It is surreal to see snow skiing in Southern Africa, while Europe and the USA are sweltering in record hot temperatures. Even if that snow is man-made, there are still a few patches of natural snow on the surrounding hillsides, meaning that in the Southern Hemisphere Africa, spring air temperatures are still cold enough to allow snow-blowers to operate.
    Ski Africa! Never thought I'd hear such a phrase in my life.

      This snow is not man made - it snows here. This facility is high in the Maluti mauntains...far from towns (Maseru or Leribe..etc). There is a road as you approach here called Mmoteng where you keep going up and up and up into the clouds. Make sure your car engine and brakes are good when you come here. Altitude very high.

    • @riverbankfisher
      @riverbankfisher ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sothoworrior I understand that natural snow falls in Lesotho, but the video shows springtime conditions with wet snow on the ski runs and only a few patches of natural snow coverage visible on the surrounding hillsides.

      I look forward to a day that ancient Bantu Kingdoms rule SA, from Nongoma (Zulu), Mpondo Land, to Ndebeles in Mpumalanga, to Balobedu, Pedi in Limpopo, to Royal Bafokeng in NW, to Basotho in Lesotho and FS...in this setting, i am for the joining of SA and Lesotho. Let the kingdoms reign and lead. History shows there was a high level of respect and corporation amongst the tribes...as opposed to western propaganda teachings.
      SA's interest in the Lesotho Water Highlands is also interesting. I wait to see how the two cauntries move going forward, bcs that water in Lesotho is crucial for SA, especially the economic hub Gauteng.

      @@sothoworrior your wishes quite shocked me. They are not honest and have a lot of queries for my taste and I don't like them, they seem dangerous. But anyway who I am to question anyone because clearly this statement is coming from somewhere and is in the wrong place right now. Because this place is about us enjoying the African American brother who is sharing the love for experiencing the country that is all. In fact I am only interested in this gentleman Goblack2afrika adventure. I love people who want to live and love life God presents to them, instead of people living to focus on others and giving them hell in order to feel better. As black SAn, I'm with those who want to live a descent life without killing, hurting others just because of the hate and resentment, then go back to dark ages where these kings and tribes you are talking about were butchering each other , giving their own people hellish life to feel better. Where Chaka kill tribes in Natal, many ran to E Cape where they were hide by Xhosa kings and helped them by giving them land to plough and cows to milk for their families. Same Chaka challenged Basotho king Moshoeshoe, but Moshoeshoe fought him wisely and defeated him. Still talking about Chaka who killed his own people chasing them far away from their own homes in Natal and ended up in Northern transvaal and Rhodesia ( Bulawayo) today they had to hide under Ndebela clan name of Zimbabwe. What about the poor same tribes that were forced to travel back to Mozambique to kill. But unfortunately the poor troops were tired, hungry and became ill and they all died. The tribes left in Natal were living in fear until, thanks to Chaka's brother and sister who decided to end his life. The tribes were free at last and Dingaan united them. Luckily for those who were kept by Xhosa kings became a Xhosa nation without having to live in fear. Yes I know you'll want to attack and say whatever you want, but all I'm saying if people want to live the long gone ancestry life of the dark ages and wear animals skin, with spears assegaais go around butchering, raping, destroying people's lives who have no idea that you are at war and without them knowing that. Then that is huge, and you should be announcing that so that everyone know why these bad things happen to them. But stop terrorising people's lives. I still think you need to tell SA and government what you are up to, because some of us want to live, life is short and we have no time for bad, hence I prefer people like the people who want to breath and feel what nature is offering them. You may plan tomorrow, but nobody knows what tomorrow has for you. ❤️❤️❤️👀 ADVENTURE Loving you LIFE IS MORE FOR ME FOLKS🤛 😂👊🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

      @@Videographer113 bro, I'm from the Eastern Free State, Qwa-Qwa to be specific. We experience snowfalls on the Drakensburg mountains through out winter season. Those mountains are our borderline with Lesotho, which is surrounded by Free State, Eastern Cape and KZN. Yes, it does snow in SA, once did in Gauteng like 10 years ago.
