This is an amazing birth story! In my opinion your midwife sounds awful though 😭 I got mad anytime you mentioned how she treated you, I can’t imagine that! My midwives wouldn’t touch me without asking. I’m glad she didn’t ruin how you feel about your birth, that’s what matters most. 💕

I am going for my 2vba2c at home this time. My first one was probably more traumatic than the cesareans I had prior because I got bait and switched, and then they made my life hell until they let us leave. Now that I live in Texas, I am excited to be at home. We found a great midwife and I am hoping to finally have a healing birth.
Happy you got your vbac too! Congratulations, 11 months later lol.

I labored naturally at home to fully efaced and dialated in 8 hours. My doula and midwife thought I still had a ways to go until my body naturally started to push. I then had to try not to push for an hour waiting for my midwife and when she arrived she found my baby was breech. Ended up with an emergency C-section. I was extremely coherent and answering nurses questions two hours into trying not to push while I waited for pain medication. Currently planning a home VBAC and planning to labor like a champ again. 💪

It's so nice to hear someone else talk about not realizing they were in active labor and being totally fine and able to talk during transition. I had the same experience and could talk all the way through my labor. Not that it was easy or a walk in the park, but everyone labors differently! And I just don't often hear about women who experienced labor like I did. So thanks for sharing!

Loved your video! I'm due with #3 any day now- #1 was unmedicated hospital birth, #2 was home water birth. If my midwife gets mad at me for getting into the pool before she's there she's just gonna have to DEAL WITH IT I'm totally with you I want to give birth in the pool for the pain and mess factor. Good for you for screaming at your midwife I'd be cross too!!!!

Thank you for this! My first one ended in a c-section, my birth plan was completely ignored and I never want to go through that again. I'm currently pregnant with our second and debating going to a different hospital with a different practice that has a lower c-section rate or having a home birth, it's so nice to hear home birth vbac stories.

    • @corpselizzy
      @corpselizzy ปีที่แล้ว +1

It’s not really recommended cause of the risks of complications towards vbacs so I recommend sticking to a hospital with lower vbac requirements as you don’t want the risk of something going wrong and not making it to the hospital or something happening to the baby as midwives aren’t trained if something goes super wrong

Attempted a home birth with my first which ended in emergency C-section because she flipped breech. Currently 24 weeks with my second and planning a home VBAC.

n @corpselizzy While I appreciate that you have that opinion, it is not accurate information Midwives are very trained in all sorts of dangerous situations and the risks are the same in a hospital or at home.

It’s so good to hear such a different experience , to mentally prepare that my vbac might not be textbook with contraction spacing EXR . My mom also could talk in active labour and the drs told her she was not ready to push because she was talking still, she told them no the head is coming out, sure enough baby was crowning.

I’m only halfway through this video but when you started talking about what happens when you are “failure to progress” at the hospital- that was me with my first! That is exactly what happened and now that I’m 19 weeks pregnant with my second and I’m doing everything to get the natural birth I wanted now this time.
Thanks for sharing this. It reminds me that my thinking is not alone 🤍

I haven’t had a baby yet but am hoping to get pregnant this next year (35). Im definitely interested in an un medicated birth and hope to find a birthing center in SoCal that is open to different birthing styles and options. My friend has given birth twice at St. Joes and while I know they have a big birthing area, she hasn’t had the best experiences! Your story is very inspiring that I could do it without pain meds! 😊

I had my first baby last June and I wanted a natural birth, but because I had elevated blood pressure throughout pregnancy, my doctors wanted to induce. Well, despite my best efforts to move things along, the induction didn't work and they called it "failure to progress" too. I didn't want the induction because I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible, to reduce the likelihood of interventions. (After experiencing my first cervical check I was horrified and pissed off that no one told me how much those hurt!) Luckily, with my C-section, I didn't have a very tough recovery, and was standing and walking within 36 hours, so that was a relief because I had SO MUCH anxiety and fear about the possibility of a C-section. My doula said she's never seen someone walking around and bouncing back as quickly as I did post-cesarean lol. Maybe I just had an incredible surgeon, idk. Anyway, your VBAC story gives me hope for my next birth. With a home birth, do you have to take the newborn to the hospital pretty soon after for a check-up?

Thank you for sharing this! Congratulations!
I had my beautiful daughter 4 months ago with all the intervention and honestly I never want to do that again.
I was having BP issues starting from 18 weeks… boarder lining preeclampsia so I was very closely monitored in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters which was fine, but I was also pushed to be induced at 39 weeks.
With Pitocin, continuous fetal monitoring, near hourly cervical checks, an epidural, episiotomy, vacuum, and 36 hours later I have my beautiful baby.
I love her so much, but I really regret not having the birth experience I wanted. Thankfully I missed out on the c-section, but only just because I refused to have my waters broken (Dr came in when I was only 1cm trying to push me into an artificial break of membranes.) that was 1 thing I was very firm on not doing if it wasn’t absolutely necessary and I’m so thankful I stuck to that because I think I would have ended up with a c-section if I had let him break my waters that early.
But I wasn’t able to walk at all and spent almost the entire 36 hours of the induction on my back in so much pain just for being so uncomfortable. I never want to do that again!
Your birth story is so inspiring to me! I’m not sure I’ll ever want to do a home birth, but I’ll never do a hospital again. I’ll probably go the birthing center route next time… we’ll see.
Anyway, I love your channels and just wanted to say thank you! And congratulations! Enjoy your beautiful daughter!

QUESTION: If you don’t mind me asking……. How long after having your c-section did you have your successful VBAC?
I am due in November exactly 8 years after having emergency c-section due to breech. I did not think twice about having a natural birth until I was presented with the “VBAC stats” at my last prenatal check-up. I’m in the process of gathering as much info and tips on natural labor and delivery as possible because I do NOT want to have another major surgery unless absolutely necessary. Thank you for sharing your successful VBAC birth story and congratulations on your newest bundle of joy.

Congratulations on baby Amelia. This video was really great and informative. Currently 16 weeks and wanting a natural birth, ideally a water birth but struggling to know how to advocate for myself when this is my first baby and I'm trusting the medical professionals to inform me of options. Completely forgetting they look at text book senarios and may make decisions based on that. We're based in England and my partner wants a hospital birth to feel more at ease which I'm on board with but worried about making my wishes known when it's not my safe space and maybe made to feel that I don't know best. Definetly wanting to hypnobirth but not sure when to start that process either

There is evidence that "hands on" while crowning causes more tearing and my opinion is that there was no reason for her to touch you. But kudos to you for being so nice about it.

hello i am expecting baby number 3 and with my first one i had a vaginal medicated hospital birth with my second i had a c section because failure to progress and my epidural failed one one side. i would always get to 6-7 cm unmedicated and then it would go down hill from there. i would be exhausted and hungry and worried about how my kids were doing it was a mess. so with this birth i want a homebirth and a water birth at that. i was wondering how you dealt with finding a midwife that did vbacs. how did you mentally and physically and emotionally prepare yourself for a unmedicated home birth. also how did you bring up the idea to your husband. and how did you get him ready for a home birth. what did you do for pain management?
