Thank you for your tutorial on making knickers, my problem with bought ones besides the fit is I am allergic to the elastic so all my elastic has to be encased and lately all the shop styles have exposed elastic.

I have the same issues. I am indeed allergic to latex so elastic must be encased and item is tossed once the fabric gets worn bare spots exposing the elastic. But that usually takes a good while to happen

I don’t understand when manufacturers decided to change the gusset location so far back. Also when they decided to add spandex to everything. Thanks for this course.

I am so glad I found your video. All my underwear needs to be exchanged. As Irefuse to pay for good quality, my knickers are sliding off my hips and looking more and more horrible. I pray I don't have to go to the hospital with this knicker wardrobe. This situation will change soon. I will get the most beautiful knickers ever 😂.

A temporary fix would be to take in the side seams to fit the body / fabric you have now

Thank you so much for these instructions! I’ve made 1 pair before but I couldn’t figure out the gusset correctly nor could I manage the elastic in the legs. Now the gusset makes sense so I’m sure the elastic will too. Your teaching style is exactly what I need. Thank you so much!!

using burrito method for the 2 piece gusset can make things less awkward to put together. ive found i can pin the front and back gussets then sew them without having to resposition the pieces.

I would like to add a 4th option that I use: Lay them/move them flat into each other (you overlay the seams, and trim afterwards) and zigzag with a very thick (almost like a buttonhole) zigzag stitch, so it looks nice. This way you don't have folded seam allowances that add bulk. This is handy if you have extra gusset layers if you make the gusset into an integrated pantyliner. I added a water resistant fabric and an extra layer of gusset fabric to have more fabric for absorption.

question: is it possible to instead draft only a front and back piece, so that they overlap to create a gusset? the back one goes all the way to the front of the crotch, and vice versa.would that be more difficult to stitch than the double gusset?
btw, I'm a hand-sewer, I anticipate this project will be very annoying to stitch regardless because of the jersey, but how does one do a zigzag stitch by hand?

Thank you so much for this course, it makes so much sense and I LOVE that you explain the logic behind the pattern drafting so that we can figure out exactly what we need to change up to achieve the fit we want. I have a question and I apologise if its a silly one but: Why do we need to make a gusset and why do the front and back have to be two separate pieces? Could I cut front and back in one piece like how you did for the test pair in part one, then cut two of them and layer them. And then sew both of them together?

Totally off topic but you remind me of Tove Lo. 😂 I drafted a panty block several years ago and have never bought undies since. Nothing beats the perfect pair for you. No digging, creeping, crawling, rubbing, chafing, or just bad fabrics ever again. my favorite is 1 front, 1 back, 2 gussets one white cotton or linen lining, one fashion fabric, and burrito method clean finish both seams.

If so, wouldn't it then be better if the inner layer would be sewn in in a way you can easily take them out and exchange? That would mean I don't have to sew a new pair because of slight discolouration just put in a new gusset.
