Such an interesting take on tech integration. While I don't like the lack of analog for speedometer and tachometer I like the minimalist approach to the dash.
This was really cool John. I would love to see more videos such as this based on other cars like Mercedes SLS or Nissan GT-R and so on. Whilst I do I like to main focus on how the car is built it is great to get an in depth look as the tech which makes a vehicle easier to live with.
Wow, one of the best value budget supercars available,(what other brand new 64K car has a dual clutch transmission + carbon ceramic brakes?) I always loved the design especially with the r8 grill. I'd love to own a convertible TT rs one time. I'm so jealous! (But you should have given it a Doug Score)
This was definitely a fun video to watch. I know reviewing cars is different from tech, so give us more videos. Practice let us see if you guys can spilt off into car/tech reviews.
I'd dump the steel Springs for the magnetic, adaptive ride. That high door line that runs down the side of the bonnet (hood) gives it a mustang styling touch.
I own one and love it..... Did you try the launch control? Its epic... ps, press esc once to get almost 100 power on the rear wheels... I am able to do power drifts and the car feels exactly like a rear wheel drive system like bmw that I used to drive. Press esc twice and you get full power on 4 wheels and the best launch control results... nice review.
PatrickEVRAable It gives you a perspective of what the car gives over a normal car instead of compared to a 488, 918 or 675lt. These guys are not nitpicking, they are evaluating what it gives you over a regular car
Despite being a Haldex system, it is not FWD-biased slip-and-grip as you describe. It is Rearward-biased and generally sends power to the front as needed. Nominal driving percentage is 30% front and 70% rear with a zero grip maximum of 10/90 and 90/10 meaning with both front or both wheels off the ground 90% of power would be sent to those with traction. On ice with limited traction it's similar but with a slightly lower maximum percentage transferred to either axle. With one wheel off the ground or on ice the ratios go out the window so I won't even comment on that. It sounds like you were... biased against the AWD system before you drove it. This system is substantially newer and more robust than that found in the TT and TTS and other MQB models which do have normal Haldex systems.
@5:45 'Now this is a Haldex system, it's not your traditional Quattro system [...] so that mean's its front-wheel biased.' @5:50 So you're going to get most of the power to the front wheels and when it needs to it will send power to the back.' These are factually incorrect statements. It's not an attack on your opinion but rather some of your comments make it sound like you were pleasantly surprised about something you were expecting to be underwhelmed by, hence why I said you were biased before you drove it.
Is there any information on This "new" Haldex system. Even from a fundamental standpoint Haldex based systems should be impossible to offer rear wheel bias. Haldex assemblies are all based on the rear axle. meaning it is still a slave system depending on the front transaxle sending power. That would imply that to achieve rear bias you would need some form of front axle unlocking mechanism (ie BMW styled wet clutches on xDrive) or some form of over-acceleration on the rear axle much like Honda's SH-AWD or the focus RS. Also granted that Haldex was originally created as a space saver AWD for the MQB platform. I'm sure if such tech does exist VW would never just reserve it for such a limited production car. It would almost immediately go to the RS3, S3 and probably Golf R as well. And then there's other publications That claim the TTRS is still Front wheel biased :: jalopnik.com/the-fierce-400-hp-2018-audi-tt-rs-can-make-anyone-into-1786806589
I have heard about what tim mentioned too and it exclusively to the new 8s ttrs with the aluminum engine and that's to give a different feel, other golf r , s3's and rs3s would all feel to similar
Wait that's not a one plus 6^^ and he cool new stuff^^ audio interior pretty nice, but interior still very... i don't know... just looks boyish? Not stylefull. I would without a doubt choose volo's interior over this. But not as bad as bmw and mercedes^^
This is maybe one of the most weird car reviews I've ever seen. It's the middle of the video, and this is the moment you start talking about the engine specs. I think it's the wrong car to talk about technology guys. It's a drivers car and it's supposed to be as much simple as possible.
quick tip for any audi video, at 0:00 LAUNCH THAT FUCKER. You can speak jibberish for the rest of the video and it wont matter. The RS Quattro models, well almost all, will launch harder than anything you will find on this planet. The rest is all just a bonus, aside from being Spierman on ANY TERRAIN all times of year. My Quattro has 280,000 miles and i pull trucks and cars out of ditches frequently in our -30f winters with multiple feet of snow. She never leaves me hanging. But that grip, is some thing no manufacture aside from a 4x4 truck can match.
I hate how you ruin the side blinkers in the US and put them in front if the wheels... Looks like some missplaced crap. The original design behind the wheels and further up looks aloooot better and more natural.

I don't know why Audi insists that its TT RS press cars have the fixed shocks and ceramic brakes. It's a super expensive option that makes the car worse to drive (no magnetic shocks) outside of a track, and makes the car seem even more unaffordable.
@@314159265mangler Is it though? TTRS suppose to be a "sports car" but it's worse than Cayman... it's worse than Coupes like M2... so it looks like a "sports car" but performs like a hatch back... so no it's not worth twice the price of RS3

Oxycodone That depends on the weird quirks and interesting features it has😉

When high tech meets a vehicle: it's an Audi!
Awesome Video! I love Audi so much because I'm living in Germany and my father works at Audi xD

Simon Deelstra I wouldn't call this a super car, it's decidedly a bit sports car, along with the Porsche Boxster and the Mustang
The Corvette....
Correction the Vette doesn't have a dual clutch but it DOES have a manual available, which is better imo (it's my opinion, just to state that again)
Add to the list
This is no where near supercar lmfao

Great video! You guys should do this more often.
Virtual cockpit is also in the normal tt and audi r8
Can be had in all the 2017+ models now.
TTRS tech is a few years old already. For Audi, A8, A7, and A6 are currently the most updated tech-wise.
Wop wop old? The virtual cockpit just came out in 2017 model years... 🤔
It was available in the 2016 Audi TT. The 2019 models are coming in a few months. Just google 2018 A8 and you'll see the latest Audi tech.

Alex Gunner Er and what are you referring to?
The RS5 is a beast as well.
Hopefully we can drive that next!
Technobuffalo in cars getting coffee? xD
Jon, I love you and your videos, but I feel like driver's cars are not your thing.
Booooo!
Prove me wrong!
New TTRS or used Audi R8 (First gen)?
Fabulous video
This is what you compare the M2 too, not the RS3. Take note car journalists.
Audi needs to add the 7-8" inch screen. That's the only reason I would choose to order the RS3 over the TTRS. Hopefully the 2019 model has it

(I know I know - not comparable things)

if you want a "baby" supercar with exceptional daily usability (except space of course (luggage , persons etc.)) Then this is the N1 option imo
Do you have to pay for the LTE?
I saw Jayz2Cents doing a review, great car, nice points of view from you two
my next car
a nice tune will make this audi ttrs faster than a lambo or r8
Ashish Patel but that would up the cost by like 50 - 100%
a nice lambo or r8 tune TTRS is just a prius speed
This or the 2018 m2?
It's a full package except for the center screen.

Team Audi
love how the badge is not on the grill
What a great... Wait... This isn't a phone??? Where is the OnePlus review????
Nice looking, good tech... Now just bring the electric Audi

I just want the Audi a3 😢
audi TT had the first flat bottom steering wheels! the R8 took it!
Oneplus 6 drop test plz

what is with audi getting the tech youtubers on ads now
also still not a tesla
98% of the TTRS Tech is in the 2016 TTS.
