- Leanne Wilkinson is an avid (some might say obsessed) knitter and Canadian flight attendant based out of YYC Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She started a TH-cam channel called @TheKnittyStew in April of 2022 to showcase these two aspects of her life and create community. The podcast/vlog allows her to talk about knitting as well as bring viewers “on the road” to see glimpses of the yarn scene in overnight cities across Canada.

Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying being a maker. No TH-cam. No Etsy. A maker in love with fibre arts. I don't think I have enough patience to be a TH-camr. Kudos to all who do as they keep me company as I knit, crochet etc.
It’s a commitment for sure, but I’m loving meeting some wonderful makers through it

Hello from Mounds, Illinois. Another awesome interview. I have subscribed to so many podcasts watching you, and have enjoyed all of them. I went back and watched you from the first episode and now I am up to 120. I try to watch at least five each day sometimes more. You are lucky to have so many yarn stores close to you, the closest one to me is three hours away in another state. I am grateful for your podcasts they keep me up to date on everything.

Thanks irina for such fascinating interviews. Haven’t watched Leanne before so will sure go off and check her podcasts. I love how she talks about just being a maker. I feel there’s always too much pressure at times to be a designer or become professional. So refreshing to hear someone just wanting to be a maker. That’s how I describe myself.

I was fan girling the whole time. It’s such a peculiar feeling when you feel like you are talking to your long time friend just because you’ve been watching their podcast.
@@Fiberchats Oh yeah I so get that! The more I watch my various fave podcasters the more relaxed I am about commenting to them. And when podcasters show so much of themselves, being authentic and showing their vulnerabilities, as well as their passions, the more you can 'trust' them and get emotionally involved in their podcasts. I feel that way about you and Leanne, and a few others too, as do many people, by their comments!

Off now to look at a few of her podcasts and she has inspired me to knit the ranunculus which has been on my mind for a long time but felt it was out of my comfort zone. I’m so doing it.

I was beaming as much as you two were throughout this interview. Two of my favourite podcasters at the SAME TIME! Bonus! 🤗😱🤭 I was nodding my head and joining right in on the conversation. Thank you so much Irina and Leanne. You add light to my life with your enthusiasm and genuine joy about the wonderful world of knitting. Leanne made a comment about the rhythmic nature of knitting and how it is soothing or something like that. This made me think about EMDR therapy, which I practiced for years as a therapist. EMDR is based on right left eye movement while focusing on a problem. The process resolves trauma, often quickly and completely, which is so amazing. Knitting is definitely a right left movement that is rhythmic and done often while we are pondering life’s dilemmas, so it stands to reason that we are calming ourselves and resolving our problems as we knit. There we go- therapy- definitely not cheap as my stash would tell you, but way more fun, knit on!

I would love to do a study… what similarities do we have all of us obsessed knitters. You said sometimes people interrupt us so that we can't get on with our knitting!! That is so true! We are always searching for like-minded knitters to connect with!
